I used this Shep to play through 1 & 2, & now I've imported him into 3 using the face code from ME2 (+ I tried the exact sliders, the result was identical). He looks different but just as good & he no longer has weird facial expressions (example: every chat scene with Yeoman Chambers in ME2 would be visually really weird, like he'd suddenly aged).

If your ok with the import face glitch then you either:
1. Never played ME1
2 Never played ME2
3. Your not affected by it
4. Used default Shepards
5. You feel no emotional attachment to your Shepard what so ever.
6. You don't like ME enough to care about such features
7. You play it just to kill things and don't care about story at all
8. Your a Bioware fanboy who tells himself everything will be alright.
9. You don't like ME at all
10. You have no soul
11. You work at Bioware/EA

Well, that's you then. Have a nice day.

Edit:- The correlation between people trolling this thread, and falling into one of the categories above is astounding.

Not at all, I stand by my words. Even after the patch is released your custom face will look different, the face models have changed in ME3. There's no point crying about your old face when you can create a better looking new character in ME3.

I think people here are determined to hate ME3 no matter what, looking for issues everywhere. If you say it doesn't affect me & I'm a troll, I say that's because I choose not to be affected where as most here turn it into a gamebreaking problem.

I was one of the people firmly in the camp of 'I am not going to play until this issue is fixed'. Well, as angry as I am that this issue was not fixed in what I would call a satisfactory timeframe, I caved and played the game anyway. The first few hours were certainly jarring and I did get the 'who the hell is this guy' feeling, but after a few missions I started to soften to him. The decisions were all mine, the voice (obviously) it the same, and there are enough recognisable features in the character to at least know that it's Shep - even if it is an evolution of my Shep. The game is still a fantastic game and as disappointing as it is that the character isn't QUITE the character I made all those years ago, it isn't enough for me to feel complete detachment. It's still Shep, it's still Mass Effect, and it's still brilliant.

Don't think this is forgiveness for Bioware - it really isn't - but just my experience. I hated my 'Shep' at first but grew to love him the same way as the ME1 and ME2 Shep. All it took as investment and a small suspension of disbelief.

You are part of the problem... EA/BioWare didn´t give a f*** about the incompabilites of ME3 with its predecessors and you go like "meh theres no point in complaining, I just take the **** they throw at me".

You should follow your own principle of not giving a damn and just leave this thread alone as "it doesn´t have a point" in trying to convince us from stopping to complain.

I want to see that fix, play ME3 with the Shepard I created years ago and leave BioWare/EA behind me in a sealed box and never open it again...

Can I assume they still haven't told us exactly what this patch does yet? (Haven't had time to read all the posts since I last looked at the thread)

right now Bioware is trying to fix the Madonna bug, the faces import fine, but they all look like Madonna.

As much as I admire you for going through the game and overlooking this problem, most people like here are like myself who like to get invested into a story, hence why we play RPG's. That is why we consider this to be a game breaking issue. Comparing that the face might look slightly different due to lighting etc as a different engine is used, to the fact that the lips , nose and eyes have been removed from the game entirely is the the problem we are looking at.

The fact that over the course of the series the game has devolved into a shooter lends itself to less story focused people, which I presume you are, hence why you don't understand the problem we face here.

Am I missing something here?

I'm not going to read a 289 page thread but why aren't PC/360 owners using those mod tools/website to get the face code for their ME1 Shepards?

This is what I did for my first Shepard and the only things that were wrong with the face were the eye/hair colours. Which were easily changed back.

I understand that there's some hairstyles from ME1 that aren't selectable in ME2/3 but come on, not playing the game at all, slagging off BioWare and acting like this is the 'Worst Thing Ever' is a bit over the top isn't it?

Massive +1 guy!

This is exactly why this is a MASSIVE PROBLEM.

I'll be sadder than I was in ME2 when I first arrived at the
Citadel to find the Presidium was an office if they don't fix this
properly.

I paid big bucks for this and while yes I got a cool N7 patch,
what's the point if I can't be Shepard anymore.

Don't offer something like porting user created characters through a progressive
story if your going to change the character even slightly in the 3rd instalment.

I know it's a bug, I'm not stupid.

But there's a fairly easy workaround to get your ME1 Shep's face into the game. I did it myself on release day and played through ME3 with my Shepard I started back in 2007.

Problem solved until they release a patch.

There is a really easy way to import your face. Its saved in a txt file in code form on a Bioware employees desktop.

Well, maybe you *should* read some posts in this thread before writing such things...
This external editor does not work for all people. Be happy that it did for you!
ME3 is missing assets and many can not recreate their Sheps.
So maybe don't act as if we are complete morons...

I can only assume that after 15 days in certification that the one thing the announced patch does not do is actually work!

Any comment Bioware?

Like I said before, it looks exactly the same. The only things wrong with it were the eye/hair colour and it defaults the hairstyle to skinhead, so if you chose one of the hairstyles that aren't selectable in ME2/3 you'll have to change it to something different.

I'd actually say it looks better than ever due to the overhaul faces must've had for ME3.

Think you need to chill out mate. I haven't insinuated anyone is a moron so wind your neck in. <_<

BTW I'm not sifting through nearly 290 pages for people's opinion's on this, sorry to rain on your parade.

If people have actually tried to do the workaround and it hasn't worked then fair enough. But I bet there's a sizeable amount of people on here that haven't even bothered to try it before declaring the end of the world.

Glad to see some peope agree!

The following is what I liked better from ME3....smash those in ME2 and the game is perfect
-The ability to roll during combat
-The way level ups are done and how powers are picked
-A nifty multiplayer game
-Basic graphical improvements that come along through the years.

That's it....ME2 had more dialouge choices, more substance, more squad members, more side-missions and (so-far) way better DLC and endgame. Not to mention one hub world (Citadel) and half the galaxy is missing (IIRC). The more I think about it, besides multiplayer, and when you consider the face import bug and vomit-inducing endings (Pick a Color! LAWL...FAIL), ME3 feels like a giant step down

Yeah ok but for a lot of us its stuffing up big time.

I'm interested in what your opinion would be if the workaround didn't work for you on release day?

I did try all the workarounds and they all failed horribly. Hell I even calculated all the slider positions in Gibbed and that did not work. My character looked too different because the sliders were all rounded up. Somebody said about the rule of entropy and he was right. Here is a side-by-side picture of my default femshep.

Ingame she does not look the same. I could not even listen to her voice coming out of her mouth as it made me cringe. After all my efforts I decided to wait to see if BioWare could fix this within a reasonable timeframe. Minimum 2 weeks and 6 weeks at the outmost. 4 weeks have passed.
