derp. Multiple posts about remaking your shep in ME3 and why we're crazy for not playing the game

I don't want this to come across as being rude because I really don't mean it like that, but at least understand what your talking about before you post stuff like this, thats why people think you're trolling.

BioWare removed assests from the character creation tools for Mass Effect 3. Your 'mate' that remade his face is incredibly lucky (if he got it exact which I doubt) if he managed to do it. Most of us here are unable to do that, or are not computer programmers so don't come here telling people that you can't believe their attitude when they can recreate their shep easily.

They can't.

Also understand that most here bought the game on day one and paid full price for it. The game has now been reduced in most places by 50% and we still haven't gotten to play the game as it was intended.

Do you now understand why people are pissed off?

Don't go all high and mighty just because I don't necessarily agree with everything that you think is the defacto 'correct' response to this issue.

Funny, really funny. When exactly did I say anyone was 'crazy' to not play the game then? Yeah, didn't think so.

I understand that it doesn't work perfectly for everyone. If people think I'm trolling (though you're the first to even mention it...) then fine. Sorry if my opinion doesn't gel with people who feel wronged by this whole issue, I'm not going to change how I feel about it. Don't like it? Tough. It's my opinion and this is a forum. Get over it.

Yep my mate did get his Shep pretty much spot on. He had to use a different hairstyle but tbh, that doesn't really matter that much does it. You can doubt all you want but you're probably one of the people on here who feel like BioWare has come into your house and pissed on your kids while some others (like me) think that yeah, this does suck - much like the area re-use on DA2 sucked as well - but it's not going to stop me from playing the game.

Yep, I understand that as well. I bought the game on day one. I bought the Collector's Edition (also got CE's of ME1 & 2 as well as other CE's of other BW games). It's common knowledge that games drop in price after release, this isn't some miraculous new development that's occured after Mass 3 came out.

Like it or not (clearly not) the game works as it was intended to. You can import a previous character and all of your stats etc. carry over fine. Unfortunately for whatever reason (which we will never be told) this bug is in the retail game. There is no-one preventing you from playing the game but yourself. It's a choice you've got to make, but don't tell me my opinion is wrong or I don't understand what I'm talking about if you don't agree with it.

Oh and also:

fruton wrote...

Don't preface your comment with rubbish like that when you know exactly that's what you're intending to do.

One last thing before I go off and play something...what exactly do you think this patch is going to do? I'll be surprised if it does little more than do what the Mass Effect 2 Saves site / YAML file etc. etc. does already which is generate a face code for ME1 faces. It's not going to rewrite the way the game builds actual head models. So, default old Fem Sheps will probably still look like they do now.

BTW I'm not sifting through nearly 290 pages for people's opinion's on this, sorry to rain on your parade.

If people have actually tried to do the workaround and it hasn't worked then fair enough. But I bet there's a sizeable amount of people on here that haven't even bothered to try it before declaring the end of the world.

Well, I felt as if you called me moron. Maybe you should read a bit between your own lines.

"Old Fecker comes around and tells the lamers here how to handle it! No, I do not read anything, I just tell them how to do it because I am Old Fecker! Year! I am the Fecker!!
And I also know what the other people did! I do not need to read the posts, I know it! I am the Fecker!"

Really, you are the great Fecker, and your neck is winded in! You are just great!  :pinched:

Wow, your sarcasm is pretty dire.

I don't think you even understand the meaning of the phrase 'wind your neck in' either. It's a British Army phrase used to tell people to stop being all high and mighty.

If you got me calling you a moron from what I wrote...?
:o

I'm well aware of this thread and did read it from the beginning when it was originally posted. But I'm not wasting my time reading people whinging about how BioWare have abused them / their trust etc. etc. etc. for nearly 300 pages! I get the jist of the thread.

On your attempt at sarcasm: Could do better. 4/10. See Me.

Wind your neck in? What does that mean? I'm not a turtle.

If you aren't old enough to accept constructive critisism when someones explaining to you why they are upset and think your wrong then go find kiddies website more to your liking. With a username like yours it certainly suggests that your aren't old enough.

I didn't want it to be rude, and still don't even after that garbage you just posted back.

I'm so tired of some people saying, just get over it or use the work around or that this is not a big deal - its that kinda attitude that will keep allowing companies to screw over gamers - you see the most important thing these people are missing is that I / we are CUSTOMERS. We bought a product that was supposed to function in a certain way and it does not. If this was anything else, a car for example, would you seriously just take it or would you go back and complain and demand what you paid for.

I'm not going to simply get over it or use some workaround - I paid a premium for the pre-order collectors edition and I demand that it functions correctly - yes demand because I'm entitled because I'm a PAYING CUSTOMER

You're right that it is a pretty mahoosive error of BioWare to let this slip through the net (or allow it through?). But, they have responded to it and are actively working to recifity it - hence the patch that's going through cert.

Thing is mate, it takes forever for patches to go through cert with Sony/MS. Doesn't the update on page 1 say that they've already fixed it? It can't be that long surely?

It's fun seeing the guy being torn apart for being uncivil and generally a jerk, when most of the time I've been looking at this thread those same guys leave similarly abusive messages to Bioware and its staff.

Oh but that's okay, because we're actually angry about stuff.

Irony is often it's own reward...especially if you find it among a mob that is too eager to turn on ANYONE not ready to grab a torch and pitchfork and go chase the "monster".

I believe this gaming community has gone mad, as you're incapable of enjoying one of the industries best releases due to small glitches & story issues.

This, so true...

I'm sorry, I mean this in the nicest way, but you're both showing what's the problem with certain gamers today. Perfcectly accepting the game being broken and letting the company that took your money with no issue what so ever.

Yes it's a video game, it's not vital to real/actual life. That much is most certainly, I'd like to believe most people know this.

But from a customer to business aspect Bioware released a game with a glitch that in no way I would call "small"

If the glitch was "small" as you put it, guess what? This thread wouldn't be over 280 pages. 280 pages in less than a month, that's a huge volume of people expressing their displeasure.

So no, it isn't small.

I've played the game three times, I simply don't have the time to "wait for a fix" and I commend those that are sticking to that way of thinking. Because despite how good the game is until near the end IMO, they STILL shouldn't had released the game until this issue was fix.

They released it regardless and why some people want to let them off the hook, by telling those that PAID money to play something that doesn't work properly that "it's not a big deal/get over it."

No, I'm sorry, this is on people who made the game, not the ones that put their trust and money into them (us) so I'm glad people are expressing how pissed they are about this, they have all the RIGHT to be upset.

It's not just about ME3, lately gamer rage has targeted most oft the major releases: Skyrim, Modern Warfare(check the metacritic user score, total insanity), Gears of War 3 & so on.

Regarding the Mass Effect character creation tools, in the original game it was nigh on impossible to create a good looking Shep. Almost all custom Shepards looked absolutely awful. To the poster who claimed I wasn't a fan of the first two games, try this: I've played ME1 so much in the last four years that my best playthrough was achieved with a custom Shep I made based on the ME2 creation tools, using the sliders & accurately adding up the numbers in relation to the face code.

I used this Shep to play through 1 & 2, & now I've imported him into 3 using the face code from ME2 (+ I tried the exact sliders, the result was identical). He looks different but just as good & he no longer has weird facial expressions (example: every chat scene with Yeoman Chambers in ME2 would be visually really weird, like he'd suddenly aged).

I can't complain about a glitch that prevents the import of characters who didn't look great to begin with + I find it difficult to imagine the angry superfans here have only ever played ME1 & 2 with the same Shep created four years ago. Of far more importance were the decisions I made in 1 & 2 carried though into ME3, in that respect it works fine.

Gamers are finally beginning to stand up and demand that the products they pay a premium for work as advertised.
