Coolest word ever.

How do you pronounce a word like that?

Let's have an audio file competition of people trying to say it properly, lol.

I'm not going to read a 289 page thread but why aren't PC/360 owners using those mod tools/website to get the face code for their ME1 Shepards?

Because if you are playing it on the 360 and use modding tools Microsoft can ban your account and your console permanently from playing online.

Yes, you are missing something.  The face code doesn't work.  No matter what attempts I've tried, some of the assets used in ME1 do not exist in 3.  Same with 2, but ME2 imported raw data.  It imported the actual head/face data, so even if the face had assets from ME1 that didn't exist in 2, it imported correctly.  The facecode doesn't help, because in some cases, the sliders are different (resulting in incorrect reproduction of the face) and in others, again, the assets aren't there, so the end result is drastically different.

Trust me, everyone has tried to use the fanmade fix, and many other solutions, and come up empty handed.  None of my Shepards import, and no amount of mods or tools have produced anything even remotely resembling them.

This is what I did for my first Shepard and the only things that were wrong with the face were the eye/hair colours. Which were easily changed back.

I understand that there's some hairstyles from ME1 that aren't selectable in ME2/3 but come on, not playing the game at all, slagging off BioWare and acting like this is the 'Worst Thing Ever' is a bit over the top isn't it?

Um, it's not just hairstyles, it's faces. As in eyebrows (some removed/changed), noses  (some removed/changed), mouths (some removed/changed) , cheeks/chins/foreheads (changed topology/geometry).

I'm pretty certain that the majority of the people who posted their frustration in this thread have tried the suggested workarounds, because they *do* want to play the game. And those who haven't tried it probably lost interest after hearing about all the failed attempts.

I can give you my Shepard's saves and headmorph file. You're more than welcome to give it a try and restore my Shepard using the workarounds. Personally I've spent about 15 hours up to Mars mission constantly stopping and trying to fix the face for hours in between sequences.

It is bad, because over several years we've grown attached to our Shepards, and we want to experience the end of the triology with the character we started with. Is that really so hard to understand?

So... maybe this patch is taking awhile because it's always fixing the extreme amount of auto dialouge in the game too?

It's probably taking so long because it will be most likely part of a bigger patch and the whole patch, not just the face fix, needs to be tested and certified. :(

As has been pointed out before, amazing how the patch seems to get more QC than the original game.

It's downright confusing! Didn't this game get like more than two years of development!? And we have things like the face imports not working, the horrid journel system, horrible amounts of auto dialouge, and the endings. Were they high as kites when they were making this game???

By the time this "patch" comes out I will be done with the single player portion of ME3, moved onto a new game and occasionally hop on multiplayer.

Just finished a new ME2 playthrough...after I complete side missions and everything else, I'll import that into ME3....when I beat that, I'm probably done with it. I don't really care about DLC endings, if it's not gameplay, I'll watch it on youtube

Skyrim has probably been patched like 2 times since this game released. And that game had some downright HEAVY issues.

Bet if it was a bug affecting multiplayer they'd have hotfixed it within a few days. Over a month and counting now, and still nothing. Last time an employee even said anything of consequence was two weeks ago. This is just pathetic.

Funny I bought Skyrim on launch day and haven't played it yet, partially b/c of the bug complaints but partially b/c I have been busy and didn't have enough time to start/get around to it yet.  Then I preordered ME3 collectors edition and finally had some time recently to play it, but couldn't b/c of the face import issues and I didn't want to start the game w/some character I'm not used to.

So I guess now I'll start Skyrim!

The trolls are coming here in droves now.

I guess they finally finished the game so they want to rub it in our faces because they know we haven't even started it yet.

I think it's funny how sociopathic behavior is so common on internet forums but in the real world most people just hide behind their cowardice. Humans are such pathetic lifeforms.

This whole mess has killed my interest in the game. After waiting around for a couple of weeks, I moved on to Journey, then Mafia II. When Risen 2 comes out later this month, I probably won't even drop in to see if the patch is out until I finish R2.

When people talk about the whole "get their money, then fix it" attitude being short-sighted, they are right. Companies with good reputations can get me to buy games I ordinarily wouldn't give a second look. Bioware's reputation was so stellar that I picked up KOTOR on release. I wasn't an old-school Bioware fan; I wasn't an RPG-player. But the buzz about the company was so positive, I took a chance. Loved the game. Jade Empire didn't look like anything I would be interested in either, but my experience with Bioware had been so great that I decided to pick it up simply because they made it. Loved the game. With the shift to the current generation of consoles, I went with the Xbox 360 almost entirely because Bioware was developing Mass Effect for it. Loved the game.

Cultivating a reputation is like investing. Both are long-term. You make the right choices and they pay off handsomely. Wrong choices come back to bite you in the ass. Bioware was flying high. I would lay down $60 at a time for a game based entirely on previous experience with Bioware's ability to deliver. Mass Effect 2 was enjoyable, but a mixed bag. After the debacle with Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, and SWTOR, I don't have any faith in them. Faith in Bioware was the only thing that got me to buy their previous games. None had lookled like anything I would usually play.

They may get me to buy the games I'm really interested in. If Jade Empire 2 ever comes out, I'll be all over it. But what they've lost in me is the ability to pull me to games solely because of their reputation.

I just think to not play the game is a bit too drastic. I understand that a few hairstyles are no longer selectable in the CC after ME1 (same with scars) but the way I see it is that Shep could quite easily have had a hair cut on his time back on earth!
:P

The point that it comes down to is a difference of standards. You're definitely okay shrugging off with satisfactory standards.  The other of us that are refusing to play aren't.  So quit ****ing about our standards being too high.  Absent this one moment I've never ****ed about you or people like you for having ****** poor standards.

They do not deserve to be saved by Shepard, and they actually won't be saved until THE M.F. PATCH comes out! :pinched:

From the article: " Executive producer Casey Hudson says the DLC will put the focus back on
the Commander Shepard that you, yourself have crafted over the course
of the series."

Addition to that: "Yes that Shepard that you can't even play with it's face. Yes you who all screwed up trying! Yes we are laughing into your faces because your money is in our pocket."

For those comparing this to Skyrim bugs- I think you need to look at the patch logs for each game in a similar amount of time, not to mention the communication on it all during the process. Night and day.

To those saying it's being 'dramatic' or 'stupidly picky' to not play the game just because the character model looks different.... I don't even know where to start. The strength of a 3rd person narrative like this is to funnel your interactions through that character/group of characters. As the central person around whom the entire story is based and whose decisions and character we have helped shape from the start of this journey that for most of us started several years ago and have spent possibly hundreds of hours on, that Shepard is the focal point for the entire series. Making the central focal point of your entire saga unrecognizable at the beginning of the end is a pretty big slap in the face as a result of an attachment that they cultivated. Some of us care about these things and the entire journey is rendered pointless as a result until/unless it's fixed.

The fact that they're not getting a LOT more criticism about this from people/media and that some people find it perfectly acceptable bothers me quite a lot, honestly. Perhaps some do take it overboard, but that's the result of the anger built up from the start and the lack of communication that they've since at least made a few baby-steps towards delivering, albeit unofficially. At any rate, such mistakes happen and I think everyone at least was understanding of that. The communication debacle on it, the fact it was known well before release, followed by the wait after wait for it is almost a willful antagonizing of any good will though. Keep in mind that we still have no actual word that this issue has made it through QA on Bioware's side or if they're done with any of the other mysterious issues being patched or anything else. Even assuming that the patch clears everything up, they've still got a lot of ground to make up for the way it's been handled as far as consumer relations go and if you can't appreciate that as a consumer then you deserve exactly what you'll be getting in the future.
