Thanks, I won't play till this is fixed. Plus I heard some people see their old Shepard with the "Shepard VI's", but they couldn't import that Shepard into the actually game, weird, lol.

I had a thought on this, actually, which, if I'm correct, could be useful to the programmers...

In the character creation screen, there are three main options, right? Imported Face, Default Face, and Custom Face? If a face is successfully imported, what is displayed for the Custom Face option? Is it the default custom, or the imported one? If it's the latter, I suspect THAT is why this problem is occuring for player characters, but not that VI - when a character is imported, the game wants to give you the option to make changes, further customize the character you imported. However, if your character's face contains options that are no longer available through the character creator, there's nowhere for it to set the sliders for the Custom Face option, and as such, it doesn't load it at all.

If I am correct about this, the solution I would propose is to give players the option of forgoing being able to modify their character. If it can't load the character's face settings into the editor, have it display a warning, but then give the player a choice - either load a different file it can find the settings for, or continue, knowing that you will not be able to modify your imported face - your imported face would appear under Imported Face, and the Custom Face option would just have the default custom face, which you could modify as normal.

If the face can, in fact, appear in-game, as the presence of that VI suggests, there is no reason for this not to be able to work. Granted, it might not be perfect, and I have no idea how much work it would take to implement... but, if I'm right, it SHOULD be possible.

...hopefully you guys already thought of this, though! (But, if you didn't... I am willing to consider relocating as a requisite for job offers. XD)

Its inexcusable that this problem was not detected way earlier and fixed before the game shipped.

But, with that being said...i trust you guys will have a patch to fix this problem soon enough.

This doesn't fix the actually issue though. There are color/features missing from ME2 faces when they get moved to ME3.

There are 2 issues.

Saves can't be imported at all.

Features and facial don't match up so shepards can look vastly different from our me1/me2 counterparts.

Which issue are they talking about.

In the end Bioware couldn't stand against complaints. Good to hear that, as some of us haven't played the game yet, hopefully we'll have a fix very soon.

OK quick question about this issue:

I am a Sheploo (default male Shep appearance) player. Can I just transfer my save and carry over story, decisions, weapons, BACKGROUND (yeah background is very important to me, my Shep is a Spacer War Hero) etc. and simply use the default face which I'm used to anyway?

Sheploo imports fine. This issue is for custom faces.

How long should we expect it to be before a solution is distributed? If we are talking days, I will wait. If months, I will just make a new face.

You'd be fine. Its the custom appearance Sheps that are screwed.

Don't see why you couldn't. Sheploo is unique after all.

Do what I did: if you have multiple Shepards from ME2, pick one of your lesser-used ones and just approximate his face when you import him.  If not, just make a new Shepard from scratch or play default Sheploo so you can enjoy the game while it's being fixed. Hopefully by the time you finished it, the bug will be fixed and you can play your "canon" Shep.

I think you're right about this and I hope this is what they do.

I'm about 4 hours into the game right now and managed to get a pretty close approximation of my ME1 and 2 Shepard's face, but if this gets fixed, I would totally start over so I can play with her looking exactly right.

This is what I'm going to do. I'll wait on my Vanguard, Adept, and Infiltrator, and play my Sentinel, Soldier, and possibly my Engineer until they get the issue sorted out. My Sentinel and Soldier have the faces I've most wanted to adjust anyway, might as well just make 'em from scratch.

Is one of the glitches that it isn't even seeing my ME2 file? Because that's certainly what's happening for me. On xbox 360. Haven't touched it with the cloud.

I just retconned my history to say that my Shepard got his face severely damaged in the process of destroying the Collector Base and had to get complete plastic surgery to reconstruct his face. They got it pretty close, but not quite... lol

But "canon" Shep is the Shepard I want to experience the game with.  The one who started fighting the geth and became a Spectre.  I want to play as my other Shepards too, but the first run through?  We ALL want it to be the Shepard we created in Mass Effect 1.  If this was going to be such a problem, Bioware should have given a heads up.  Found a way to work around it.  Told us we might have recreate the face.  People always screamed, "I was betrayed by DA 2", but that's delusional hyperbole.  We were never promised our Warden or even a continuation of Dragon Age: Origins.

But  THIS is a weird feeling of betrayal.  If this was unexpected, okay, I get it.  They'll patch it.

But if they knew ahead of time and continued hyping your Shepard returning for ME 3....that's a legitmate, sketchy move right there.  Again, I can't even mask my disappointment.  I'm honestly trying.  I can't wait to play the game.  It LOOKS great....sigh...Posted Image

Hopefully it gets resolved soon. I really want to play the campaign, but I won't touch it until I get to use my character. I'm still concerned, what if it's not fixable?

Yeah, it does really suck that you can't go through the game with your canon Shep first. Me, I've just been waiting too long for this game to come out and had too much anticipation that I don't want to wait an indefinite period for a fix before playing.

I created a ME1 facecode from my ME1 character using that fan made tool and when using the code in ME3 it looks nothing like my original shepard.. if thats what bioware's fix will achieve then why bother?

Well I am glad to know they are addressing it. In the meantime I am now glad I had one default look Shepard ready to go (funny thing is I finished running him through the first two games maybe a couple of months ago). BTW I can't put this game down, played for 13 hours in my first sitting.

I can wait. I can wait forever if need be. No fix? No play. No play? No DLC money from me.

Might sound like overreacting, but to me, Mass Effect is like a really good book or movie series.

Would Indiana Jones still be the same to you if Last Crusade suddenly recast Harrison Ford with someone else, that looked nothing like him? What about if you recast Christian Bale in the DKR with Gilbert Gottfried?

Doesn't matter if they speak the same lines, it's not the same character, and completely breaks the fiction and makes it totally unenjoyable for me.

I really have to drop the hammer on this on I final get a day off work want to play the game and i can't import any of my customs. I love all the work they do I have bought all their products but for a company like them who pride them self's on excellent quality control this is inexcusable. hopefully they will resolve this problem and have us playing by the weekend but with xbox live that wont be till next week.
