What I'm afraid of is that some irreversible decision in technology used will make a fix impossible. As I said, I do not believe one bit that they missed this problem. That would be test case #1 for any quality assurance team. This means they've know about it for a while. That they chanced their core fanbase not noticing and accepting this crap tells me they have no solution. I hope I'm wrong.
There are a bunch of things that people have complained about and Bioware has come out and said "Sorry, that's the way it is." Holstering, gamepad support on PC, etc. With them saying they're working on it, I'm hopeful for a fix.

The problem is those issues are arguably justafiable. This is a bug out-and-out, not something they would do intentionally. I don't think they'd say "Yeah we're not going to fix it" even if they had no plan to fix it.

I am totally forgiving of the new graphics. I dislike it compared to ME2 but that's my issue not theirs. I don't get an error when importing. I get a default face. I cannot wait till this is fixed. Hopefully it can be. Till then, I am shelving this game. I too am surprised how sad this makes me.

The closest I can get looks pretty good in-game without using any user made tools... But without her purple eyes she ain't my Shep.
Just a small recommendation, but the eyes on your ME3 Shep look just a little farther apart than those of your ME1 & 2 Shep's. Could just be angle, though

By working on it they probably mean there's 1 person spending maybe an hour a day on it... BW just isn't the company that many of us fell in love with.

I feel you... My Shep came out with the wrong hair, different eyes, and a totally differently shaped head.
Did you consider using the default FemShep model? She looks quite a bit like your Shepard. Just saying.
Hope they fix this... and soon.

This is a huge deal breaker for me, I'll be holding out on buying it (released on Friday here) until it's fixed.
MP is actually VERY good if you've got the right people. Once I learned I couldn't import my Shep propery, I spent my first 12 hours or so with the game in MP and my Galactic Readiness Level was @ 100%.
It's probably dropped a bit since then, but it's a great game mode and you could easily fill the time waiting for a patch by playing it, raising your GRL, and unlocking characters and weapons.

Either give me MY Shepard back, or give me my money back. Without it fixed, it's not the experience I signed up for. I was promised something that wasn't in the least bit delivered. Something this major should have been fixed before it went gold, or at least immediately after, and prepped for a release day patch.
The fact that we were told it was "just the demo" and other stuff like that was only to make sure they got those release day sales.

And how this BUG passed throught testing?
P.S.
Sorry for bad english.

I hope you're wrong too, but I'm pretty sure you're right. This isn't a simple coding error. The character creator has been drastically changed. In its current form, my Shepard cannot be remade.VileQuasar wrote...

I am serious, the fact that this wasn't caught and fixed in testing shows that they don't care. There's no way something this big made it through testing and cert without someone pointing it out. Add to it that since last week people have been bringing this issue up and it's still not fixed pretty much tells you BW's stance on it. When something is important enough, you get it fixed right away regardless of howmany people you need to bring in to fix it.

Not a chance. It's going to require a patch which means it needs to go through Sony/MS/EA first.

Does anyone know if it would be even possible to fix Shepards that were using different character model assets in ME 2 and ME 3? What happened to all the missing stuff?
Because getting your Mass Effect 1 Shepards to import won't help much if they import incomplete or incorrect like many Mass Effect 2 Shepards do.

Most of the stuff present have simply been updated to look more realistic and such, but a lot of things have been shuffled around and removed entirely - making this a very real issue.

Would it be possible? Of course. Everything's possible with some effort.
How much work would it entail? Uncertain. It depends on how much relies on the animation controls in the newer, more expensive face rigs.
Will they do it? I'm starting to think it's unlikely. It'd probably be much more work than they would think was worth it or justifiable.

Why would they do that? I obvioulsy know nothing about programing but It almost seems like that would be more work in order to create a problem than just leaving in all old character creator assets in there. I did notice they added a few in, but they actually seem less realistic than the ones they took out. Like bright red eyes that look like they came from TOR.
