Monday, ha? Well done, BiowEAr, well done.
Oh c'mon, be real, don't tell me in all honesty you wanted to play this weekend?

I'll just wait for the 9th and sit back with popcorn and soda when the forums explode again because the patch did not fix the import issue in the way they expected.... ;-P (As I still fear exactly that will happen.)
It's actually very likely not fixing things the way we want them fixed, because as I understand it, the fix we want would change all the existing ME3 Shepards, and that'd make even more people unhappy.
It's more than likely the patch fixes things at the point of import.
Faces already created are set as they are. Once you accept all the settings before starting the game, the face is locked as is. The only problem is if they change the way the codes are read, possibly.
I get the impression characters made before the patch and are in-play won't change at all. I mean, why would a hair style change just because they added some new ones? You already made your choices in the design section.

Exactly, it sounds like they just fixed the missing shapes problem, not the /changed/ shapes problem. Faces look different even with a perfectly working ME 2 face code (= no missing features).

Somehow many of them look... "cutified", and that's just not the Shepard I created. I went for the look of a mature women on purpose, and I don't want her face to look 'cuter'.

I guess it's only for cases where people were receiving an actual error message.

Just received confirmation via Twitter; sadly the incoming fix probably won't add back the removed hairstyles/colours.

I doubt it.
They were working on this patch exactly one month. So it's quitte impossible that they only took so long just to fix a simple error messsage. About the hairstyles/colours i guess the scars are not coming back too... But let's see what happens.

I was at PAX and I was told directly by devs that patch is most probably coming next week.
You know... I wasn't at PAX! And I even know the exact release date! It's magic.

In short, it appears that this is a distinct problem from the face import bug, and maybe it's been brought up before (too many pages to read, I'm sorry), but I'd like to see if this is indeed something different and, if so, whether it can be addressed. I'd really like to have my age-appropriate, non-spacebabe Shepard back…
Basically the problem seems to be that the female head (and body) meshes were altered; the faces are all more heart-shaped, there're differences in jaws, the eyes, lips and noses are bigger and so on, in addition to the slider ranges changing.
I'd be very glad if this was the face import issue, but I think this is a more fundamental problem, and I'd rather not have it overlooked…even if it's the undesirable answer that BioWare likes the spacebabes and we're just SOL.

Didn't know that. There was no information on that until yesterday anyway. So it's good they keep their promises.

We've had some discussion here about the changes in especially female face meshes (there're various examples of people's imports, the problems are pretty similar and clear).

Found a post there that explains why what we want most likely won't be:

It's also this that actually makes 'recreating' our Shepards impossible. So will those who claim it is possible please shut up.

Heheh you're a bit late too the party. It's been pointed out as well when the demo came out. Whether it's a distinct problem has a strong probability in my mind. But woodbyte (a few pages back) has shown that theoretically the mapping of certain LODs shoud be possible. We'll see come Mon and Tues.
Ah, good…yeah, I thought someone must have noticed because it's pretty much across the board, but nobody mentioned it in the other thread, and this definitely seems like an intentional departure. Of course it's still possible that they fixed this along with the import bug, but it'd be nice to see some confirmation. Going to hunt down the patch notes…
Edit: Patch note is “Fixed issues when in some cases Shepard’s customized facial features from ME1/ME2 may not be properly imported to ME3”, which is too ambiguous to determine
…
As far as the problem with facial animations, I'm not sure why it would be a problem. Or, of course, it would need to be added/retrofitted/remodeled and that requires resources – but I don't think there's a technological reason why it couldn't be done. Hell, I'd be happy with no animations…
