Now I'm angry I didn't try to do this at the beginning. At the same time I'm happy I did it anyway - now I see how pointless was waiting for the patch..
I'm not happy though you guys still have problems, at least some of you...

I feel for you, man. I did the YAML thing in order to avoid the wait, cheered that it almost didn't change my MainShep's face and finished the game. Now that we know that the patch does pretty much the exact same thing... well, there was no real reason to wait. Especially since both the YAML and the patch broke my FemShep's face in the exact same way =(Now I'm angry I didn't try to do this at the beginning. At the same time I'm happy I did it anyway - now I see how pointless was waiting for the patch..
On an unrelated note, your signature is most awesome.

I don't have ME1 screenshots here, so:

Her eyebrown color imported as grey and her eye colour is missing in ME3, but the rest is fine.
:wizard:Aren't you happy to have her nose back? It was driving me mad that I had to use either a crooked nose or a snub nose with the workaround.

Not sure if you saw my edited post, but I wanted to ask you if when you did the workaround you launched ME2 to fill in the gaps the YAML method didn't generate or if you tweaked things by your memory?

Instead she should look like this (this is the correct facecode I got using gibbed):
[edit: it's still ME1->ME2 save that won't import the face correctly]

Actually, I had a sh** load of screenshots of my ME2 Shepard from a variety of angles and in a variety of situations. I guess this added to the sensitivity... My worst problem was the shape of the face itself.
ETA: I spent about 15 hours playing and tweaking the face over and over again. I have 18 slightly different face codes that imported (using gibbed) to the game I had started. The face I have now and that I find acceptable has features that are not part of the ME3 character creator, so my guess is that they didn't try to convert that into a code.
And to everyone else I emphasize again: The fix seems to work better for the ME1>ME2>M3 route than the ME2>ME3 route.

ME2:

ME3 OK:

ME3 Completely off:

It seems to even change between shots in the same scene, only dependent on the lighting.
More or less OK:

Completely off:

When the lighting is correct, the face is really almost the old one, minus the makeup and the faint smile in the corner of the mouth. If only it would not change from scene to scene

Sorry for the pixelation, I might have buggered it up.

I'm not going to play this game. The fix did bring back pieces from Jane but not completely. Unless somebody can tweak her back in CC or mod her back in the game I give up. I don't have the same patience as I used to have.
In retrospect this game isn't worth the € 70 for MP alone. I was unsure about ME3 after DA2. The game might be actually good, I have no idea but I am emotionally detached now. I play games for immersion. You have killed the franchise for me. Have fun with my money BioWEAre! Last time you'll get any more from me.
Also I keep thinking of this image for some reason. I already posted it a couple of weeks back. http://janeshepard89...epard-283001059
EDIT: Lots of furious typing

Please tell me that all of the people posting that the patch doesn't work are just joking. I fthey're not than this is OUTRAGEOUS. BioWare takes over a month to develop this "fix" yet almost nothing has changed, if the YAML method didn't work for us than the patch seems like it won't either. Great work BioWare between the face import bug, the lack of communication, and the possibility that this patch does nothing, you've lost another customer. Good luck staying in business at this rate.
It's apparently working for some and not for others. I'm curious what differentiates the ones that do/don't work and that's at least part of the reason why I would've liked some form of communication regarding the patch by anyone in the know. If it only clears up those having specific problems or leaves a small % of people with some specific issue out of luck then I'd rather have known about it before waiting a month to find out. It seems it at least fixes most of the problems for 1/2 or so of the reporting people (I'd assume a skewed sample though to be fair), so it's at least something good, but it should still be seen as a failure simply due to the poor communication that's still happening -which rather proves that nothing has changed in that regard.

Can we get some BroSheps in here for comparison guys? Really unsure whether to feel hopeful or depressed about this fix hitting xbox tomo.
I'll repost what I posted earlier

So here it is... The results are in, and it looks like the YAML method was as good as it was ever going to get.
Here is my ME2 Shep
Here is the result of the YAML/ME2 tweaking procedure and the Shep I used for my ME3 playthroughs
And this is the result of the import bug being fixed
The only difference being the colour of the beard and eyebrows which is more accurate in my YAML-made Shep. It should be noted that in-game the differences between ME2 and 3 are less pronounced than you can see in the Character Creator, but that's probably because my Shep has such clearly defined features. More subtle Shepards seem to lose more in translation.

Funny thing is, depending on the lighting, the match is almost complete (except the makeup, but I'll try to fix that with Gibbed), or completely off. Look here:

THIS. I attributed it to the "improved" animation, though.

Is the "fix" image the patch? Because I think the other of ME3 looks more like the one in ME2...Da-Fort wrote...
Decided to make another post but with fullscreen images this time around. The FemShep in the pictures are default Jane Shepard and currently my only Shepard. I hate playing the same game twice and definatly with another character. The first comparison shot is ingame and the second comparison is the squad screen. Feel free to use these as how you see fit.
Sorry for the pixelation, I might have buggered it up.

Excellent Apple_NdiB , this is exactly what I wanted to know. So the confirmation is that it doesn't work, only removes the error message and anyone saying it does merely tweaked things by glance/memory. You did exactly what I did to fill in the gaps the YAML method didn't generate by going into ME2. So I can expect the same.

I'm not surprised though. It's obvious they didn't care about the import face bug so why would they bother fixing it. The game is out, the Mass Effect series is over and they have our money already so why the hell should they care. The lack of communication proves they knew the patch wouldn't fix a thing so they just sat there with a their tail between their legs.
Great job BiowEAr. How does it feel to go from first to last. Oh wait I forgot you would have to have a heart in order to feel.

I suspect that any Shepard initially created in Mass Effect then imported into Mass Effect 2 for which an improper face code is attached in the second game (generated by choosing a customized appearance, cancelling and then using the imported appearance) will not be imported with this "fix", due to the game using the (incorrect) face code upon detection of its presence in place of an approximation as was evidently implemented by this "fix".

Remove the face code from your Mass Effect 2 save using Gibbed and attempt to import the resulting file.

- alt+tabbed
- Opened Mass effect 3
- Screamed holy moly my pc can handle mass effect 2 AND 3 AT THE SAME TIME???!!
- recreated my custom shepard by alt+tabbing back and forth
Well that worked for me. Well until I reached the ending... but enough has been said about that

Well, that's it for me then. Too bad, really. But not surprising. I fully expected them to take the cheapest route, and seems I was right. But at least some can now get faces that are more to their liking. So the "patch" wasn't completely for naught.
