Sorry, when is the Xbox patch released? Was it 10th for PC and 12th for consoles?

9th for pc and 10th for consoles, I'm staying up to at least 3 am (pacific time) for it. It's not looking good though.

Thank you. I will turn the game on every couple of hours in the vain hope it appears today then :)

Chris,

Here is the deal man.  Myself along with many many other ME players have been patiently waiting to play the single player campaign with "our shepards".  As of yesterdays patch we still cannot.  Our characters do not look the same as they did in ME1 & ME2.  There are core features that are missing in the character creator that need to be added in order for this to work.  Please do not consider this issue "resolved" as it is not.

for people that still get an ugly shepard completely different from the one in me2 remember to delete the facecode from the me2 using gibbed save editor before importing to me3.

If not done, me3 will still use the wrong face code from me2 instead of the aproximation approach (similar to the yaml method)

I really appreciate you posting this suggestion & constructive feedback for the playerbase but this isn't something players should have to do.  This is Biowares responsibility.

www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/4/7/2933178/mass-effect-3-patch-face-import-bug

"BioWare writes
that it has "a new patch coming next week that will fix a few issues
with the game" with the first being a fix for "issues when in some cases
Shepard's customized facial features from ME1/ME2 may not be properly imported to ME3." It appears those cases included every single instance that a player tried to maintain a unique Shepard from Mass Effect 1 through Mass Effect 3 ... so, sort of a major oversight."

The funny thing is, the "new shepard" is exactly the same as the shepard the game tried to give me prior to the patch.  The only thing this patch succeeded in doing was remove the error message.

My patch finally came, and what can I say?

I'm disappointed.

When the announcement was made that there would be a fix, I had hopes that a thorough fix would be available that would restore the original ME2 facial features. Clearly this has not happened.

Here's one thing I have noticed though, from skimming through the thread "ME3 (Fem)Shepard Faces Significantly Worse Than ME2, or Just Me?"

People have posted their results post patch and some of these screenshots look strangely familiar. First if all, here's a screenshot from a guy called Hicks233:

Compare this against mine:

https://lh4.googleus...1%20%282%29.jpg

Here's one from Daennikus:
http://i283.photobuc...90Apr082202.jpg

Again, compare with one of my own:
https://lh6.googleus...5%20%282%29.jpg

Perhaps I'm wrong but it looks like these supposedly "unique characters" are just roughly the same face. I'm no computer expert but it's almost like they couldn't fit the facial features from ME2 into their new engine and get it to line up properly. So, they deliberately created a set of character cration assets that would agree with their new graphics engine. Hence the drastically different and reduced number of features available for CC. While I'm on the subject, has anyone noticed that in these cgi cut scenes, "Shepard" looks a lot different from in game?

Therefore were Bioware/EA, or whatever they're called now, ever going to give us the patch we wanted? It may have required a drastic overhaul that would end up clashing with other parts of the game, if my hunch is correct. An overall that they were not prepared to commit time and resources to?

I think an explanation is in order. Someone from Bioware/EA needs to answer three simple questions, no beating around the bush:

1) Was it ever possible to re-introduce the ME2 CC system, or would it have led to game failure?

2) Can you look at all the ME2 > ME3 character comparisons posted by the many people on this forum (bear in mind there is more than one thread dedicated to this isue now) and say with a straight face that there is no difference?

3) Did you, at any stage, consider announcing the problem would not or could not be fixed?

(And unfortunately it's possible that even that won't fix it.)

Can you edit the face after importing it? (Wasn't possible in ME2) Than I can at least try to edit my Shepard after it has been badly imported.

Yes, you can. The problem is that – if the above means don't work for you – you probably can't get it exactly the same (many don't get even close) because of the changes in the head mesh, textures, colouring, and hair options.

First of all, thank you everyone for collaborating here, I have followed this thread from the beginning and have not played the game passed the first stage yet.  I tried using the methods here to create my Femshep weeks ago, but could get it quite right.  After downloading the patch, the import still did not work, it went to the common short-haired blonde femship that others have described.  After coming back here, I tried this, credit to Neonism:
"Using gibbed save editor

Go to Raw Tab > 2. Squad > Player > Face code. Delete the face code and save the file (overwrite it, make sure you backup the file before overwriting)"

And it worked!  While it happens less than my earlier tries weeks ago, I am still getting some spots where the eyelids clip the brow (also in picture), which I don't recall ever happening in the other 2 games.  I guess I'm going to have to deal with it.

2 out of 3 shepards imported still have problems, no error messages now, 2 redheads now have mousey blonde hair, and the wrong hair styles and 1 import the face is the wrong shape!

Patch rates a 0/10 as it only removes the error message & hides the problem instead of fixing it!

Man, I feel like an ass for what I'm about to say but....I'm seeing some people complaining and posting comparations here that have Shepards look the same in ME2&ME3 except for differences in eye/hair colours, hair styles and make up. These do a huge difference, yes, but the face structure is the same. ME3 lightning is bad, especially in the CC. ME3 had weird face animations that cause our Shepard to look nothing like them. They changed how female faces work in ME3. Sorry, but screens like that aren't helpful to anyone.

I even saw someone saying they fixed their Shepard post patch, posted a picture of their ME3 Shepard with a different face texture than it was in ME2 (it was correct in the patch). :/

Don't think I don't understand how you guys feel. Some of my Shepards look different because of it, too, but, really, there are people that can't import at all, people that are getting completely different faces.

If the only thing that's different in your Shepard is colours/hair/make up, please, don't claim the patch didn't work for you. Because it did, Bioware just changed those things and no patch will fix it unless they change the game/the CC to include those option again.

huh? what? when? how? patch released? suddenly, after a month? this took me unprepared.

anyway, doesn´t seem to work - like many people pointed out is that the presets are simply missing.

why can´t they just admit something like "hey, we had to let ashley look good and this jessica chobot built in, so we had to scrap some presets in order to get these faces into the game...sorry we deleted the ones you used for your Shepard. But hey! You can watch Chobot in the game! Isn´t that great?". :P

just kidding, but honestly, sometimes it feels a bit like that. :)

Well, to cut it short, that is what was necessary, and has been being discussed since about page 30 in this thread. So, why didn't they do just that?

On a side note, it isn't this bug thats annoyed me with Bioware and EA. The complete lack of thought for the consumer from those parties is whats upset me most. Three or four members of Bioware have given me the feeling that I've been brushed off now what with the lack of feedback from the main community person, and lack of proper info from the other three. Don't even get me started on Ea's customer service...

So, I just tried it out with my own Shepard, and the result is exactly the same as the fix on the first page. Which wasn't good enough.
I already tried to get close with the fix, so I didn't even bother with the patch.
What's the fix on the first page called again? YAML? And does anybody want to see pictures?

anxiously waiting Xbox patch as well (its just past noon here in EU)... just checked, no update yet.

as a funny aside: i haven't played at all since bringing my copy home at midnight on launch day and getting hit with the face import problem. been avoiding this forum and all ME topics on other websites so to avoid any spoilers. logged in tonight and... HOLY SHT...mind blown by what all is happening. fingers crossed i can at least start my game today to see for myself.

What a surprise... BioWare phoned it in and did a half-assed job on the patch. Kind of like ME3 as a whole it seems.

Well, at least they're consistent lately.

Reporting in. With deleting the face code from the ME2 save with Gibbed the game now correctly imports my sheppard. But it still looks way off. Brows, Eyes, chin and jaws is not the same. They got the nose right this time but it slightly differs.

Ain't that the truth. It's what happens when they want to push for multiplayer.  Loss of focus and man power.

are you sure its bundled with the multiplayer expansion pack?  aren't patches usually pushed as a forced update when you launch the game?
