Downloaded the Xbox 360 multiplayer pack. Still getting the import error.

However, I'm loving the NEW ending. It's the one where Shepard and the crew of the Normandy crash land in a used games bin at a local Gamestop and get traded in for less buggy garbage.

Seriously, the lack of being able to click on terminals to complete certaijn missions is worse than the face import thing. Time to stick a fork in it.

The MP pack isn't the patch.

This is really important to me, I replayed me1 and just finished, now I'm doing me2 BUT before I start and since we already know about this problem can you guys please direct me into importing my character (like the exact steps so that the patch will work fine or the import is originally right in me3)? I don't want to miss any chance available and start from scratch.

If you cannot / want not edit your save games, your best bet is to import your ME1 Shepard into ME2 and accept the imported face right away, without any adjustments (to the face, but personally I wouldn't risk any other adjustments like class, background etc. either, just in case). Once you imported your Shepard, check your squad screen and see if it displays an "identity code" above the name and level in the upper left corner. If there isn't any code displayed, you're as best prepared as you can be.

If you have a face code displaying the squad screen, you 'll have to delete it before importing your save into ME3.

Assuming you're playing on PC:

Download Gibbed Mass Effect 2 Save Editor.

1. Start Gibbed for ME2 and open the ME2 save file that you want to import into ME3 (One of your last save files resp. THE last save file.)
2. Got to the tab "Raw" tab, find the entry 'Face code" and delete the face code (12 alphanumeric triplets)
3. Save as new file with a new number. Remember that number.
4. Start ME3 and import the new save file.

Supposedly Gibbed also works with the 360, but not with Playstation, and I'm neither sure if it's advisable (TOS) nor do I know how to go about it.

For the whole trilogy I guess the safest way to make sure you at least know what you get is:
- Start ME3
- create a face code
- see if that works in ME2
- tweak until it does
- convert that ME2 face code to ME1 using the converter (ME2 > ME1 face code converter)
- start playing ME1...

Hey what's the code your Shep ? I'd understand if you didn't want to share but he does look pretty bad ass and I wouldn't mind using his face and finally start the game.

Feel free to use my badass Shepard:

If you've used a ME1 there is no code - so in my case there is nothing short of using 3rd party tools to get a better approximation. But in PS3 this code is ALWAYS there. Simply the code yields a different result in ME3 - this was explained many times why.

Thanks Kya. The last method was probably the safest but it's already too late, I just finished the perfect save in me1.

Yeah.. not working for me. Exactly the same result as before, totally wrong skin colour, hair style, nose, and face structure. Doesn't look remotely like my Shep.

I really struggle to understand how this made it past QA. It's not exactly a difficult problem to replicate. Did someone just forget to include the Face Import fix in the final compile, or something?

Hooray. I'm going to grind for new mp characters while I wait for MAYBE getting my face back. Such an awesome experience Bioware, thank you!

Wow, Capac, for a second we all thought you'd end up flipping. A lot of people are certainly not happy.

Here's me flipping.

Bioware staff talking about how awesome Wrex is at PAX is :pinched:ing disgusting because if Wrex knew what Bioware and EA were doing to so many Shepards he'd tear every single Bioware and EA staff member a new :pinched: cloaca.

I'd pay to watch that, Urdnot Wrex and Grunt Vs. The entire BioWare: Mass Effect 3 Development team.

Did you Play on a PC? If so you can check pretty easy if your face are imported correctly
into ME3.

This patch wasn't successful in resolving my facial import issue. I did not make any adjustments to Shepard's facial structure between ME and ME2, and used my save file from ME2 for ME3.

I don't quite get how this happens:

Can you post a picture of your ME2 squad screen? Does it really display a code? Because if it displays a code, then you should try the code deletion workaround.

You don't need to have made any adjustments, just visiting the customization screen and going back to your imported face when importing from ME1 to ME2 screws things up.

I never entered the customisation screen in ME2, just accepted the facial import when loading the ME save, and this is the code it generates in-game (same as what shows up in ME3). I ended up doing a custom face to the best of memory, but it was just irritating having to go through all that.

If you never entered the customization screen, then why does your character have an "Identity code"?

Use Gibbed's editor to remove the identity code from your Mass Effect 2 save file and attempt to import the resulting file into Mass Effect 3.

i imported my me1 save to me2 and accepted it without changing anything and even so i got a face code but a bad one so in order to import it correctly to me3 i had to delete the face code from the me2 save using gibbed save editor.

So best bet is to try to import the me2 save directly into me3, if the face is wrong use gibbed me2 save editor to delete the face code and reimport it to me3. The resulting face will mostly be similar if you used the yaml method to create a valid face

i'll edit this: seems that this method is good for male shepards but it's difficult to find good female results

Yeh…sadly, we've got many of these examples in the other thread. Almost all cases are female, looks like male character meshes and assets had fewer incompatible changes (now that the import mostly works otherwise).

I'm guessing that's the engine/lighting/animation/rendering whatever. It simply is that bad.
It looks like most of the features converted to closest possible... :((((

You may get a better result with tweaking after the import, but you'd do that by look of it, something the importer can't do. Especially tweaking a combination of features can produce more desirable results.

There are instances when my Shepards (who imported "ok") look so off and downright fugly that I have to quit the game for a while before continuing with a fresh battery of tolerance/ignorance. Not the experience I was looking for when pre-ordering the game.

I'm sorry, but nothing short of fundamental changes to the game will get the results we really want, and that just won't happen.

Hahaha, what the hell? Seriously, what the hell?

I'm afraid to import my shep now. I think I'll stick with my ME3 edit.

It's stuck in Rotterdam, there's a huge Maersk shipment that got priority.

(Yesterday's PC patch was something like 18:00 UTC, I think?)

No.  Renegade scars are not a part of the face details.  They are added based upon a character's Renegade score.

Sort of. Apparently you don't see them in CC or in the start, but they'll appear back soon.
