You may get a better result with tweaking after the import, but you'd do that by look of it, something the importer can't do. Especially tweaking a combination of features can produce more desirable results.
Oh I've made many attempts at recreating. I can make her close relative, but I can't make her. It's funny that Cerberus was able to make an exact reconstructive match even after Shepard gets spaced, but 6 months in detention and she melts.

Still no word from Priestly? He said he was going to talk about this issue today over twitter.
It's just now 8:00 in Edmonton.
Now's a good time to start contacting @masseffect and others on Twitter (have you got other handles?), Facebook, and what have you.
Try not to spam them or rage too much, just mention that the remaining problems are NOT “the face import bug” but something different. You can point them to http://social.biowar.../index/11073023 for more info…
Edit: or, well, it might be better to wait until the patch has dropped, their feed is probably filled with “omgwere teh pats?!” until that happens…

LOL! The download of the MP pack was free, but you still need to "buy" those characters with credits or MS Pts...yep, I knew there was a catch!

I feel your pain, believe me. (Maybe I'll post in-game comparisons later.) But I do believe this is all we will get, so we either run with it or don't.
I have reached rock bottom in terms of disappointment. I am calm, collected and resigned. I will play this through and be done with the franchise.
It's particularly frustrating that fans are doing the technical support for fans, instead of the developers who understand the engines and changes and surely could provide more information and help than people here who are going by guesses, theories and simple trial & error.
PS: As a side effect, I'm starting to feel sorry for my imposter!Shepards. They do their best and yet I cannot love them.
I think this is further proof that ME3 was not made with *our* Sheps in mind. It's sad: I may actually play her.

About a month ago, I was outraged that Bioware decided to release a game with a broken core feature. Then I was even more outraged when they decided they couldn't be bothered to fix it right away. Then, amazingly, I was some how even more upset when they wouldn't even respond to the issue and basically offered the worst customer service ever.
A month later, I was finally feeling better. I pushed ME3 to the back of my mind and let it go. There are more important things in life then worrying about a game. Yah, I preordered a $80 special edition of a game that didn't work right, but 10 years from now, its wasn't gonna matter.
Now this. A whole month and Bioware still couldn't get the face import right. Its not incompetence, its arrogance. Laziness. They just don't care to fix it right. I just want to grab them and slap some sense into them. They've destroyed a good thing, and its really frustrating.
Deep breath.
But I don't want to be angry anymore. I'm tired of this pattern of outrage. It can't be good for me. So I'm going to let it go and promise to never put myself in this kind of situation again. I'm going to remember this moment. So the next time I consider buying a Bioware game, I'll remind myself how I felt and how I was treated this last month.
I won't put myself through that again. I won't make that mistake. A promise to myself.

The transition from ME1 to ME2 was seamless. I got the same Shepard with no issues and I was ready to play. The amount of time I've invested in analyzing how to fix her face in ME3 borders on obsessive compulsive. Check the other thread for details on how I overlayed images in photoshop so I could try to get it right. And it still isn't quite right.
This is my canon Shepard. When I first imported her, I thought something was off, but it had been so long since I played ME2 that I didn't pay attention. When I reloaded ME2 so I could play Arrival (since I hadn't before), I was shocked to see what she was supposed to look like. It does feel like an imposter Shepard in ME3.

I won't play with a new face unless I start with it in ME1. It doesn't feel right to me otherwise.
[Edit ] I do like that face. If I was starting over, I'd use it. But then again, I'd probably want to customize it, and it wouldn't end up importing correctly in the last game. Not to mention ME3 faces probably won't backport to ME1.

I personally think she looks too young, but it does look more like the art.

The update didn't fix the issue with my character. Again the game claims my imported face to be something else that it should. So, apparently also I have been waiting for no reason.

I highly doubt there will be another "fix".

Dito. It took way more time trying to get my Shep into the game then it should have in the first place. Which ofcourse failed horribly.
I'm never going to buy one of their games again until the smoke clears after launch and everything is still standing. Then again I'm not sure what type of game would really appeal to me after this dilema.

Yah, there won't be another fix for the face import problems. 90% or whatever it is now is apparently good enough.

For those special people who have played Mass Effect from the beginning, Bioware just wants you to know that 'good enough' is good enough.
