Hi,

So I haven't got the game yet since I live in EU. But was worried that it would break for me as well. So i followed THIS guide to get my code from ME2. I did one little thing (since I sit on a PC) different, I swapped back an forth between the import and custome creation to compare. Took a screen shot in each angle and did the final touches. I needed to adjust the things mentioned in the guide and also my cheek bones (for some reason) and Ears Orientation. Here is the comparision between the to ME1 import & ME2 Code. The only difference is the iris color which is brighter/stronger in the import, nothing to do here and I can live with that.
Then i opened the demo and pasted the code. This is my result.

It looks a little werid to be honest, but I guess I will get used to it. I think the game will make it look like this, so guess there ain't nothing more to do than PLAY! ^_^ So don't wait for the Face be exactly the same, cause the ingame grapfhics/feel isn't.

Best,
Dougremer

The eyes are totally different.  The shape has changed, the eye shadow isn't there anymore and the lashes are thicker below the eyelids than above them.  I envy you if you can't see it - to me it's like when you try to enjoy a good film in the cinema with someone constantly kicking the back of your seat. >.<

I'm considering PMing the link to Chris Priestly or one of the devs after I get a bunch of votes, so they can actually see what huge percentage of fans this has negatively affected.

Yeah, makes sense. I think the best thing to do is to get as high number of votes as possible. The larger the number of people dissatisfied with the import, the harder it is to ignore.

I figure 500+ is a pretty good sample size.  Most random polls in the news and such are around 1000 people, so that's pretty good for just this forum.  I'll keep coming back here for the next couple days and reposting the link a few times a day to see if I can reach it.

I think the eyes are one of the very biggest things, because as humans they are one of the most recognizable and defining features of our faces.  For them to not look remotely the same completely changes the composition of the face.

This seriously makes me concerned what exactly they are going to fix. I have this bad feeling they aren't really going to fix the CC, rather just make you import strongly resemble your shep. Because this overall is looking like a graphics issue that is permanent.

That's what I think too. They may be able to fix the code-importing issue, but as far as imported faces matching between ME2 and ME3, we might be stuck with what we've got.

Wow, bizzare. I just got ME3 and Imported my character and my face imported just fine. Which is strange, since my ME1 character was one of the ones that failed to produce a Face Code when importing into ME2.

Yeah because so far from playing, a lot familiar faces look like they all went to get plastic surgery. I do believe this is a graphics issue that overall can't make your shep look like exactly like yours ME2 import. Which by the way IMO so far looked the best and with the best detail.

Sigh. So much for the smooth transition.

I don't think we'll get an ETA. But I'd be very curious as to the options they are exploring for a fix and what kind of fix it might be.

Is it just going to be a fix that approximates? Because I can do that without a patch and it isn't enough. As consumers though, we rarely get a window into the process. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't here anything until their fix was done and ready to go through cert through MS and Sony.

Well, my face import went to bonkers. Another wierd thing is, when I recently reinstalled ME2, and the character screen didn't have the face code on it.

My thoughts exactly. It almost seems like they "downgraded" the graphics. The level of detail is not nearly as close to ME2

This wouldn't be so much of a problem if they put all of CC options in the game to allow us to recreate our Shepard's without any issues. Instead, in both ME2 and ME3, they take away options and add new ones. The hairstyle my Shepard used is only in ME1, which ported to ME2 fine even though ME2 didn't have it as an option.

Strange. Did you do anything special with your import? Maybe Import from a particular location? Was your face heavily modified, or just a few tweaks to one of the pre-built faces? Things like that...

Yeah I was very surprised when I tried importing my shep in the demo via code. I don't mind if they're were trying to make more realistic features but the overall look and feel are quite off.

of three characters - one went through normal - one took me about 15 minutes to fix and one was just beyond repair...mouth and eyes seem to be the big issue-mouth in particular...guess I roleplay shep got botox

I'll be gutted if that's all that happens.

Me2 face import was almost a copy an paste feature with updated graphics which I very well liked. But I think Bioware wanted to do a new graphics engine that was different from the past two with ME3.

I did notice they added a few in, but they actually seem less realistic than the ones they took out. Like bright red eyes that look like they came from TOR.

I wouldn't mind being able to have red eyes from TOR (I chose that there too). Honestly if the CC at least gave you the starting points it Could import I'd be able to match the rest, but it's too hard to make it the same with nothing to go on offhand

I agree with some of the sentiments being expressed just now - it's bad enough that it doesn't work right, but even when it comes close, it doesn't look as good! In almost all of the comparison pictures people have posted of their characters in all three games, in almost all of them, the ME3 version looks the worst to me. Heck, in several of them I even think the ME1 version looks better than the ME2 version...

I'm honestly afraid to go any further in the game because, aside from my Shepard looking strange, so does everyone else. The textures seem much higher this time around, but everything else looks horrid.

I really don't want to see familiar faces from ME2 with disgusting complexion and blocky cheeks like everyone else I've seen so far.

I know right?  I played all of about a minute of the demo and quit it the first time I saw anderson...

If you had the option to alter your imported shep yourself, would that make people happier? Sort of like black emporium DAII did with hawke?

Can we get an update? A possible ETA for the patch or if the problem is possible to fix? I've been playing multiplayer to pass the time but I really want to play the campaign with MY Shepard.

It seems very likely IMO. Sorry to be a bringer of no hope but the ME2 graphics for the CC almost like like a copy and pase situation with updated graphics. Then ME3 comes along with a graphics engine that totally rewrites with what were familar with.
