If you had the option to alter your imported shep yourself, would that make people happier? Sort of like black emporium DAII did with hawke?
That would work for some people, but like myself, some options in the Character Creator are just missing that were from previous games. My Shepards hair and eyes do not exist in ME3, and the hair didn't exist in ME2. So the only option for having that hair is to import a character from ME1.

This seriously makes me concerned what exactly they are going to fix. I have this bad feeling they aren't really going to fix the CC, rather just make you import strongly resemble your shep. Because this overall is looking like a graphics issue that is permanent.
That's what I think too. They may be able to fix the code-importing issue, but as far as imported faces matching between ME2 and ME3, we might be stuck with what we've got.
I'll be gutted if that's all that happens.
It seems very likely IMO. Sorry to be a bringer of no hope but the ME2 graphics for the CC almost like like a copy and pase situation with updated graphics. Then ME3 comes along with a graphics engine that totally rewrites with what were familar with.
It really should be possible though - they have no excuse when so many other characters in the game look the same >.<

Hi,I see what you're saying. I to see all of the differenes in her face. But this is the exact same code I got by comparing over and over again. So there can't be anything wrong with the code, since importer and costume match, IT'S in the game. Doesn't matter what fix they will do, the face will never look exactly the same as it did in the second game. I'm doubting it even looks the same for a male character.AwesomeName wrote...
The eyes are totally different. The shape has changed, the eye shadow isn't there anymore and the lashes are thicker below the eyelids than above them. I envy you if you can't see it - to me it's like when you try to enjoy a good film in the cinema with someone constantly kicking the back of your seat. >.<Dougremer wrote...
Hi,
So I haven't got the game yet since I live in EU. But was worried that it would break for me as well. So i followed THIS guide to get my code from ME2. I did one little thing (since I sit on a PC) different, I swapped back an forth between the import and custome creation to compare. Took a screen shot in each angle and did the final touches. I needed to adjust the things mentioned in the guide and also my cheek bones (for some reason) and Ears Orientation. Here is the comparision between the to ME1 import & ME2 Code. The only difference is the iris color which is brighter/stronger in the import, nothing to do here and I can live with that. Then i opened the demo and pasted the code. This is my result.
It looks a little werid to be honest, but I guess I will get used to it. I think the game will make it look like this, so guess there ain't nothing more to do than PLAY! So don't wait for the Face be exactly the same, cause the ingame grapfhics/feel isn't.
Best,Dougremer
Bad news I guess. But at least we get the "right" one.

Yeah because so far from playing, a lot familiar faces look like they all went to get plastic surgery. I do believe this is a graphics issue that overall can't make your shep look like exactly like yours ME2 import. Which by the way IMO so far looked the best and with the best detail.
Sigh. So much for the smooth transition.
Yeah, looks like we are stuck with this. The fix will only give us the "right" one. I think all of the characters looks weird, even the default. I'll make a comparison tomorrow between the default as well

At least you can easily justify a different hair style. It's the nose, eyes and mouth that are the problem.

Also, has anyone been able to confirm the Shepard VI having the imported face? If the face can clearly be recreated through the VI, then surely we should be able to import it correctly.
it does not

I remember something about problems with Garrus's facial texture with the PC. Bioware said it would be impossible to fix. Possibly something to do with it being imbedded deep with in code or something like that ( not a programmer) So what I'm getting at patches don't make huge changes always.

However, I think all the assets to create the face are there so would my Shepard import correctly without difficulty?

Keep requesting an ETA to keep them in the hot seat. As long as we keep pushing for this as a community, we will see results.

One thing I'm seeing occassionally is the notion the game was rushed or the dev team didn't try as hard somehow. It's disheartening to see that because I can tell you the development team worked *incredibly* hard on the game, including a ton of personal sacrifice (hours worked, holidays skipped etc). This was a labor of love for the team and we're all very proud of what has been accomplished. There are bugs that got through (face import. we know) but they are being investigated for fixing etc.

Yeah, I was pushing for an answer for this for a while as well... apparently it doesn't. Someone said the Shepard VI looked to have a full beard, while their character only had a goatee... really disappointing to hear that, though. If it had been true the Shepard VI got your old face without an issues, that'd mean a fix should be relatively simple. Since that sounds to not be the case, though, even if a satisfactory fix is possible, it'll probably take a while. >>

I did my best to recreate mine, but it's just not there. After playing through five hours I decided to try again and got the shape of the head a little better, but going back now is just as bad as waiting for the patch. Something about Shepard's head is just different this time. More gaunt somehow. It would have been better to see how badly my ME1-ME2 Shepard's face was messed up under the new system and THEN rebuild it rather than rebuilding it while dreaming about how nice it would be to have the same face I've had in the past two games.Flamesz wrote...
I'm wondering, my Shepard I'm hoping to import when I get the game on Friday doesn't have a face code but I've tried to best I've done in the ME3 demo using comparisons etc to try and get it right and it seems... Close but not exact yet as there are some aspects I'm difficult at doing.
That's what I thought. However, it doesn't look like the import bug has to do with the face at all, just whether it was imported from ME1 or ME2.However, I think all the assets to create the face are there so would my Shepard import correctly without difficulty?
I did notice something strange. I tried importing all three of my Shepards, all of which were from ME1. Both male Shepards had the default face in place of "accept imported face" while the Female had the same face under "customize" and "accept imported face". It's possible that that's a preset face, but it resembled my ME1-ME2 femshep very closely. Only the hair color was different.

i know this is a long shot, but is there some way, bioware could make a model viewer/face code generator of sorts that would have the three shepards side by side, and you can create a code from them or something? Heck I would love to know what the code was for my ME1 and ME2 shepard.

From what I've heard, it only affects people who import a Mass Effect 2 save which in turn imported a face from ME1. So no, PS3 users haven't played ME1 and are unaffected. I never thought there would be a positive side to that before now.Pappi wrote...
Does this affect PS3 onwers too? I haven't got the game yet. Can I tweak the look of my imported shepard once she carries over at the start?
