I'm also disappointed in Microsoft and Sony too, for certifying this 'patch'.
The very fact that 50% of this thread consists of people helping others with YAML and Modio methods says it all; we are being forced into patching the game ourselves.

If face importing was just a quirk for Mass Effect, then this problem wouldn't be so bad.
But Mass Effect has always marketed itself on being YOUR personal story, with YOUR personalised character.

Also, the new 'default Femshep' looks absolutely nothing like the Femshep who was voted for by fans.
I recall her being blonde, without the Drell freckles and ginger hair seen in ME3.

The point being, Bioware don't even know how to import their own default Shepard into the game.
What chance did we ever have? Maybe I missed something prior to release, but she looks much different than the one that was announced 'winner' on the Facebook vote.

The way that Bioware and EA have handled Mass Effect 3 has clearly demonstrated that they no longer care about their loyal community or long-time customers/fans.

Fair play to them for announcing a 'more detailed' epilogue DLC.
But really, they should have spent more time making sure that the game actually functioned properly first.
Why would I want an additional ending when my real Shepard hasn't even reached the original ending?

And free multiplayer DLC? That's great and all, but I bought Mass Effect 3 for the singleplayer story.
I could care less about co-op.

Thankfully my import is pretty much correct. As i figured, the ME2 face looks better though

Hi,

This is my result with the patch on 360.
I created her in ME1, imported into ME2 without changes (no facecode in ME2).

In the CC in ME3, she looks off.
Ingame she looks okay for me, way more accurate than in the CC.
Some people already wrote about that in this thread.

I downloaded the patch on my Xbox at 7:37am est and after installing it froze my system when trying to connect to EA servers. I restarted my Xbox and the game loaded without issue.

Me too. Weird.

Amazingly, my Shep looks actually very close to the original.
Had to do a few tweaks........then restart the game and tweak again because it vasn't vun hundrahd prezent accurate (Eyes, gentlemen. It's always the eyes) but I've got something about 98% correct.

I find the biggest immersion breaker is when she puts on her angry face. She looks fine from what I can see, but that angry serious face just contorts her into something completely different.

So it seems like the console patch working correctly is a toss-up just like the PC patch. It's just strange to see how far BioWare has fallen.

I get absolutely no change with the patch on 360. Mass Effect 3 still loads up one of the preset faces that has a kind of similar hairstyle to my previous Shepard, rather than actually importing anything even somewhat resembling my face.

All of this is getting us nowhere. Forget BioWare. It´s up to ourselves to make this work and I think the best place to start with this is getting the textures from ME2, like the iris and the facial texture over to ME3.

I think those are they key things that make our Sheps look so unfamiliar.

Hair and other meshes would be great too but I guess that won´t be that easy...

I just attempted to give it another go & see if I could overlook how my character doesn't look anything like previous installments.  Couldn't even make it past opening cutscenes.  Bioware can you please address this issue?

The patch didn't really work for me either. In fact, the Shepard that I custom made to look close to what I had in the previous two games is closer than the one that the patch gives me. Looks like its back to the drawing board on the patch?

Is a face code attached to your Shepard in Mass Effect 2?  If so, use the Gibbed save editor to delete the face code and attempt to import the resulting save file.

Using any kind of save editor, goes against XBL T&C's.....

Still does not work after the patch. I still get the person I got before, just without the error message. I'm going to try the save editor thing now. After that I'm done with this piece of crap, if I still can't get my Shepard back after that, then off to Gamestop it goes. Long live used games!!!

I am aware.

Thus far, my account has been unaffected.

 hi all,
i have been watching this thread over the weeks with increasing distane. how ever i jut installed the 360 patch and my shep is back as he was. Virtually perfect. i hope there are more positve stories going forward. I still think bw and ea need to take stok and learn from this. I find it  hard to get too angry, as working in I.T i know how hard and stressful it can be, especially when it comes down to poor project management. let us not forget the thousands of hourz put into this product by the eztreamly tallented developers and artists who created what is to me by far one of the greatest game series ever..

Third here. I love that they fixed it to where now the shepard I have had in the last two games can continue his fight against the reapers as I had him originally design. Good Job Bioware for getting this fixed and the new DLC that came out as well.

*At the risk of sounding a little bit negative - and by all means I don't intend to be*

I agree. BioWare has done a good job, they took the flack (mostly) on the problems, but they delivered. Unfortunately, they've been caught in the EA net, and now are subject to their ultimately money making final decisions.

They're two sides of the same coin, going with EA effectively dooms your business decisions, on the other hand no going with them wouldn't have allowed BioWare to achieve the funding needed to make ME2 and ME3 (IMO).

I don't hate you BioWare, it's just going to take some time for the wound to heal. Give me time.

Indeed, I don't think this patch is any better than the YAML method.

When I get chance, I'll take some in-game screen shots... (somehow, considering I play on 360 ) I don't like taking pics from the CC, coz in all fairness, all 3 CC's are built on different engines, therefore, they'll look different...

Mine worked! (for reference, I accepted the import from ME1 to ME2, and now again to ME3. The only thing I lost was my awesome eye scar... but I actually lost that in the import from 1 to 2, and somehow gained a different one. I justified that in my personal canon by figuring Shep just got a new one, and Cerberus didn't include the old one it in the restoration process. I'm weird).

Edit: If it matters, I'm X360. I'd be happy to take comparative SS, but I'm not really sure what the best means for doing that are on console.
