Oh man, I'm at a point now where all I can do is laugh. Default Shepard not importing correctly is just the icing on the cake. This is a joke.

This. It proves how broken it still is lol.

Bioware needs to sit down & take a serious look at the character creator.  They need to make changes so the textures & meshes match ME1 & ME2.

This is like the first thing that should have been done on the testing checklist.

Amen. I'n not a cynic but I'm inclined to beleive someone didn't give them time.

As an FYI for people that may be interested, this patch does nothing better than what I did.

I used the YAML method + loading up ME2 to input the face code and fill in the gaps.

After getting patched, I looked at the code that the patch outputted and compared it to what I got from my attempt with YAML + ME2 and the only differences I missed were:

1) small ticks in cheek bone
2) one small tick in iris color
3) one small tick in lip color
4) two ticks in chin width.

Seriously this patch doesn't do anything different. Though I guess it fixed the "error message" but really as a whole the entire artistic direction of ME3 took a dump

Also, I'm getting that lag in ME3 trying to contact EA servers

Mine worked! I just had to change the hair.

If I mean if the face importing is truly fixed I might consider a 2nd run of the game and then get a pillow and scream into when I come to the end. Cuz I haven't played in like forever<_<

Please also state if your ME2 Shep (custom or not) has a face code.

I'm one of the lucky one's my Femshep worked out alright, I do notice a slight change as far as the face definition but it's indeed her.

I was so nervous and thought I wouldn't be this lucky.

I'm really sorry for those who didn't have my luck.

I agree completely.

They took out the eye shape that I originally used, and my shep's face looks a tad different. Overall, she looks the same, though.

Just wanted to thank Bioware for hiring a great PR guy in "Chris". What a great job you have done in communicating this error we have had when trying to import our characters from the two previous games. Cant blame Bioware for shipping a game that didn't let us import our characters. Its really not a big deal. I mean you can play the game essentially, it only effects people who have supported the series from the beginning.

Anyways thanks again Bioware and special shout out to "Chris". I only have to go back a few hundred pages to find what im looking for! Whether its gibbed, yaml, hacking, usb flash drive or modio editing i know i can get a partial import with just a little computer engineering!

I look forward to buying another Bioware product as soon as I have my masters degree.

Mine is no better than the YAML method. I just attempted to play. I just can't do it. Call me crazy but I can't do it. That's not my Shepard. :( Why can't hey just import the raw data like they did in ME2? Will it mess up some of the animations or something?

Gee it sure would be great to get some feedback from BioWare in this official BioWare forum created by BioWare staff. Call me crazy...

Get the programmers on here, have them tell us that the issues are. Even if half of it was over my head I'd appreciate the two way exchange of information.

I think they've changed the facial animation system to allow for a greater emotional range (read: scowling all the time), so I don't believe they could simply port over the heads from ME2 (otherwise they probably would have done so, and simply raised the texture resolution of the hair).

Iregardless, I have sort of, kind of managed a Femshep that in some way vaguely resembles my original. But it took a long time, multiple restarts and replacing the hair using the Gibbed save game editor.

After all the time it took, and the fact it still doesn't look quite right, I'm just really tired of the whole thing. Just going to slog through, finish things, and probably never touch it again.

Well that patch didn't help much at all...

I still don't get why Bioware felt the need to mess around with the CC so much that it physically can't recreate peoples characters, I mean they actually REMOVED options and didn't find a way for imported characters to retain them... Instead just picking a new alternative that looks sort of not at all similar.

I mean, why make facecodes in the first place if you're going to shuffle features around and remove stuff?? ARGH.

I'm still mourning the loss of the small eyes all my mSheps used, as well as the ginger (NOT red) hair options... Thank God I had a Shepard that I managed to sort of recreate kind of.

/le sigh

For real?

My Sheps are still pretty wooden, unless they're smiling like a creep.

So I guess this means that they can't actually fix the issue properly then by directly importing characters, which sucks. :?

The first two I tried were relatively close, except for hair. The third however was completely wrong. You call this a patch BioWare? Why do you keep messing up?

People being able to use Gibbed may be able to get hair color and eye color back...

Personally, I managed to fix the eyeshadow (was way too transparent to even discern a color, all I saw was shade or no shade), which makes the eyes look marginally better.

So from what we have seen, have the console owners had better luck then the PC owners or are the results about the same?

The same, it's the same patch.

Can someone from Bioware pleeeeease provide a little feedback (and possibly assurance). Or is there no hope that our ME1 Shepard will ever see the light of day in ME3?

How did you do that? When I was copying the values from the ME2 save to the ME3 save, the eyeshadow was still not as intensive as the one in ME2. I fixed this by using the Devon face texture, but is there another option to have the shadow darker? Because the standard Femshep does have a much darker eyeshadow than everything you can set, but it would match the one used in ME2.

In ScalarParameter, I changed HED_Brow_Tint_Scalar to 1.55.  That darkened it for me.

Just wanted to say "thank you guys" for the patch. It solved the face import issue for me.

Patch worked fine (...mostly). Had to do some tweaking to get the face to what I remember. But that's not the problem now. First time I started up the game after the patch, the game froze while trying to connect to the EA Servers. I thought nothing of it, restarted and the game worked fine - import and whatnot - played up until a certain point, saved and quit the game.

I just came back to it and the game has frozen while trying to connect to the EA Servers every time. Tried it about 4-5 times. I'm gonna try again tomorrow after some sleep, but I'll report back if it keep freezing.

Mine is freezing too. I also tried 4-5 times and have had no luck. Apparently the patch broke the game even more to the point where it doesn't even start now. Good going Bioware. And I thought I'd actually be able to play the game for the first time today. I guess I was wrong. This is unbelievable.

This is happening to a lot of people. I just contacted EA customer support, and the guy said the devs are aware of the problem and working to fix it.
