So can anyone help me out here - looking to play with my sheps old face on 360. Patch hasnt worked at all. I never had an error code, just an incredibly 'off' looking import pre and post. I heard there is a method for fixing the face manually by importing to PC and back? Any help or guidance muchly appreciated as I'm not sure how to do it or where that thread is anymore ^^

Do you get one of those pre-set custom faces? Because it could be you still have a face code attached to your save file that's wrong. You can delete it using the gibbed save editor for ME2. I think there are instructions here: http://social.biowar...8/index/2277020

EDIT: It doesn't say were you can find the face code... In the editor, load up your save, go to the "Raw" tab, under "2. Squad" open "Player" by clicking on it, and there should be a row called "Face Code", just delete the one on the right.

Just remember to back up.

Thanks :D im not sure how to get the code back onto my xbox without risk of losing my origional shep. Any potholes to avoid here? (including bleeding obvious stuff, sorry :P)

I don't have an Xbox, so I don't know exactly how it works. But just don't overwrite your original save file, and you should always have your original save file.

I don't know how you get it back on your Xbox though, I thought that would be included in the guide.

YUP, totally the same person. Thank you, Bioware, for making me realize my black Shepard should have been an almost-entirely different looking white guy.

Aahha, that's almost the reverse of that Ctrl-Alt-Del Webcomic...love it. Sorry it didn't work for you dude, but it is kinda funny.

As was obvious for the longest time the issue is not (only) that (facial) codes dont transfer right into ME3 but that the CC was changed to such a degree that it is simply impossible to reproduce faces from ME1/ME2 correctly (as clearly demonstrated with the pictures shown in one of the posts above). The only thing they could do at this point is to circumvent the CC alltogether and to add the default FemShepard face from ME2 as a skin similar to the new ME3 FemShepard from the cover. Would fix the issue for me but I wont hold my breath...

ME2 Code- 743. Q9G. M17. F8A. JDQ. 62Q. 1DA. 711. 966. 413. 6G6. 177

This looks like the default femShep code for ME2. Did you import an ME1 save, and then go to customize screen, then back to originally imported face on the Lazarus Project screen?

Thanks for your reply. You are right about the code- I use the original default FemShep from ME1/2. To the best of my knowledge I just hit accept right away and did not go to the customise screen, but I cannot be sure of this. There is, however, no identity code for my Shepard in the Squad screen of ME2, which I took to mean that I didn't hit customise. I only know the code because on another save file (unrelated to the one I'm trying to import) I did go to the customise screen and went back without changing anything, and so the code was generated for my FemShep (same face) on that playthrough.

From what I've been reading, the next step is probably to use ME2's Gibbed save file editor to delete the "invalid" facecode, if indeed one was generated? Is there anything you might be able to suggest to do if there isn't a wrong facecode to remove?

I recognised that code. Maybe this is helpful? The code my character wrongly imported with differs oly by 2 digits from yours =/

Then I congratulate you on your good taste in female faces Posted Image.

...Sorry. I'm trying to be optimistic here, but it's really quite difficult since Chris P seems to have gone AWOL (especially after promising to update the thread himself a couple of days ago) and I'm not holding out much hope for a second patch.

Speaking more seriously, I should have specified- I'm on PC, not 360, so I'll probably need a different guide to sort out the Gibbed method. Thank you for offering to help though.

I don't know what's more f***ing tragic here. The fact that there are people still holding out hope for Bioware to fix this face import issue (You know Bioware is FUBAR when an UNOFFICIAL method actually works better then the OFFICIAL patch) or the fact some people expect Chris or anyone from Bioware like The Cat (Lion Martinez) to show their face in this thread again and communicate with us. Everyone at Bioware are cowards. Plain and simple. Chris/Bioware are more then happy to take in the praises of the lucky who got the game to work (Not to mention our money) but anything dealing with angry customers, watch Chris run for the beach again faster then he can lock a thread down. His promises are a joke. Why would he update the thread HE STARTED when 354 pages later, he has only updated it a mere 3 times and each time, only parrotted what he said the first time?? No one is reading this thread except us. Bioware have released a half assed patch and that's all they will give. If Multiplayer was broken, boy would it get fixed quick smart.

Bioware = Warped priorities!!

I just want everyone to remember this treatment next time you look at a future EA or Bioware game and stick to your words to boycott their products. The very idea that Bioware were able to work so damn fast on the "Resurgence Pack" DLC but struggle at snail pace and in the end, make a complete ham fisted effort with the face import patch should tell the story of what Bioware really only cares about now they have your money.

They have your money now but you can ensure it is the last they will ever get.........

P.S. Does this really look like someone that cares?? social.bioware.com/profile_photos_file.php

That is funny, and a testament on how **** the patch truly is.

What is more funny, is that I got the EXACT same face given to me before the patch, and I thought that it was my own personal experience of mis-interpretation- for some reason you got it as well.

Why thankyou, and same to you! I appreciate your good humour actually -  I have gone through the wheole spectrum of emotions with regards to this game over the last month. More than one flame post has been re edited. At the end of the day it's nice to see a community come together like this - I only hope the big bods continue to listen. I did so love Bioware and what they stood for!

All I know is that my Shepard didn't import right and that money talks. Bioware will just not get another dime from me.

Maybe it's a subtle hint by one of the Bioware clowns who were responsible for the face creator being a fan of the movie "Chasing Amy" where Hooper X, the African American comic artist laments about Return of the jedi and Vader's "Beautiful black visage" is removed to reveal a "Crusty old white man". Sure, go for it, especially if it brings awareness.. None of my multiple Shepards import correctly, even after several Check for Updates, Repair Installs, and uninstallation/reinstallations (I only played my femShep via the METools method a month ago), I just posted black Shepard since he's the most dramatically and blatantly incorrect.

Yea, my ME1 femshep doesnt import correctly even after the patch. I dont get why this would get broken and/or pass through QA.

So, was yesterday's patch really the one everyone has been waiting for? Because it's made no difference whatsoever to my ME2 import. It's still totally wrong.

Yup, It's THE patch to fix this issue and it has dismally failed so your certainly not alone in the patch having done sweet FA for you. And not a sinlge Bioware member has addressed the fact it has been a failure since it was released despite the promise of Chris two days ago to do so "as soon as I get to a PC" (Which he was happy to update his forum profile but not so much update this thread.

So, just for the lulz of it I started ME3 again to try out the patch. My male ME->ME2 adept actually looked kinda alright (sad I can't really play him, because the start of ME3 doesn't make sense for him), my ME2 only Femshep still looks horribly wrong.

Brilliant. I give up. ME3 is a game with a lot of problems, and all of them seem to be things that could so easily be fixed or just should never have been an issue in the first place, and all attempts to fix them seem to be failures.

As has been pointed out a million times already, the fact that this problem even existed in the first place and wasn't picked up in testing is mind boggling enough, but to receive thousands of instances of player-feedback about this issue and actively work on a patch with this specific problem in mind and STILL fail is just beyond belief.

That's the same face it tries to give my Shepard (pre and post patch).  I'll add, my Shepard looks nothing like your custom Shepard.  I nicknamed mine the blonde gorilla, I started out making the ugliest cromagnun looking SOB I could.  I miss the poor ugly basta'd.  :(

Great fix Bioware...

The new import routine evidently creates more accurate (though often imperfect nonetheless) reproductions of previosu Shepards than does re-use of an embedded face code.  Unfortunately, the import routine will first use a face code to recreate a Shepard's appearance, falling back to the new approximation routine if no face code is available.  You will need to use a save editor to remove the face code from your ME2-only FemShep if you wish to see the results of the new import method on her.
