This post nailed it perfectly. And since the one and ONLY post by some Bioware mod, where are further updates? What about an ETA? I am betting this patch will not be coming out in the next few days. Nice work Bioware. Can I suggest you fire the ENTIRE TEAM of testers you have for not picking this up or fire whoever allowed this bug to remain unfixed at launch if you did find it and sat on your hands and hoped for the best!!

I was telling people prior to this how this is the first game in over 15 years that I can remember being this excited for. All it took was one little bug in the game to kill almost all of my enthusiasm. I can't even begin to describe how disappointing this is.
And really, I'd feel a little better, be a little more understanding of it all, if we could get some sort of update. I mean anything. Even if someone says nothing new, just something said would be nice.
We keep pestering them on Twitter (twitter.com/#!/VaultBoy72/status/177541941267939329) but they haven't really said anything substanstial beyond "We're working on it." Heck, actually... the last couple I've seen just say they are "investigating" the problem...
Either way, though - people, and companies, really seem to love Twitter for some reason. Best way to keep track of updates (and to keep pestering them to work on it!) would probably be that.

I work for a software company myself and this import fiasco is just outright embarrassing. If we had a product that lost one of it's core elements, our Government customers would have us hung!!
The cheek is that when the game was released in the states and the issue was identified, they did nothing to warn Asia-Pacific customers unless you came to the forums. First instance I heard of this was on Kotaku and I saw the screen shot from an X-Box so I dismissed it as I am PC all the way. But I go to a midnight launch, come back home to install and at least see how my imports will look in ME3 and.......well not to belittle what anyone else is going through but have a look at this!!!![]()
That is my Shepard from ME2. Pretty standard stuff.
Now look at how he imports when I use a save game file saved AFTER the suicide mission:![]()
Not entirely bad but not quite right which much like everyone else, I cannot enjoy the game playing a "Stranger" Shepard.
Ok now this is where it gets F**ked up!! Look at my import in ME3 if I chose an earlier save file from the same Shepard in ME2:![]()
That right there is a FEMALE face!! For some ungodly reason, this bugged game thinks my Male Shepard should have a female face. I have no idea why it's doing this but honestly what a joke!!
Oh and it doesn't end there. One of my other ME1 & 2 imports where I was lazy and used the stock standard Male Shepard, well importing his file into ME3, you expect no probs right? No face modification, just the Male Shepard we all know and love right??
WRONG!!![]()
Somehow ME3 can't even recognise Stock standard Shepard's face. As for my FemShepard, the game can't even import her face whatsoever and wants me to rebuild her.
*RANT TIME*
You know theres something to be said for all these game developers who release games buggy as hell. Sure no software will ever be 100% bug free (despite what my company's CEO believes is possible, Yeah his a little unrealistic but hey, It's a goal right?) but when Bioware knew about this and sat on it's hands with one of it's major attractions being broken and still having the audacity to still sell the game rather then hold off, fix it then release it in Good will?? Seriously Bioware, after the crap that was DA2, you don't need anymore hate.
Got to love the Video game industry. No one could sell a tv that for whatever reason failed to change channels or something. But seemingly video game developers feel it's ok to release CLEARLY buggy software with a very lazy mentality of fixing it on the run (Except of course never fixing Sticky Wall syndrome in ME2 at all) so they still get cash and stuff the customers experience.
I shudder to think how Generals 2 will end up with this constant gallery of bugs from all their latest games (I'm looking at you SWTOR!!)
Is it safe to say that ME3 is now the most bugged and despised game of all 3?
yes it is - ME3 is the Matrix Revolutions of the franchise, sold a lot and disapointed the bulk of it fan base, and ended up forgotten.

I don't expect a fix in the super short term. But damn...throw us a bone about what's going on.
I went back to ME1 and 2 to get some images of my Shep to compare. And while he seemed close...he's so very wrong after I tweak everything from scratch in 3.

Yeah I took some pictures from my ME2 screen, I tried to rebuild the face as close as I could, but there are notable differences. I have to agree with people wondering how this got past testing without a notice. They should know something like this would cause an uproar. As someone said like changing actors in the last movie of a trilogy.

I was devasteted, when ME3 faild to import face of my Shepard. I waited so long to play the final part of ME and now this. The face of imported person was surely not Shepards. Eventually I decidet to use this code tool, so here are effects:
Shepard ME1
Shepard ME 2
Shepard ME 3 (after using code)
Shepard ME 3 (final)
It took me approx. 90-100 minutes, because there are always details that you feel you can improve. I'm pretty happy with my work - sure, "new" Shepard isn't 100% same as ME1 or ME2. But to be honest, after I saw gameplay I think, that 100% exact import patch will take some time. The faces are just different.
Well I managed to remake my Shepard, but it shouldn't take me 100 minutes. It should've been done with one click, not playing with sliders.
I must say, I'm jealous. You got her looking pretty good, all things considered. I think most NPCs in ME3 look a little different, so it only makes sense that Shepard does. But just a smidge, not like the issues that most people are posting here. This is just unaccpetable.
I'm going to do my best to transfer my 360 ME save to a flash drive later, convert it to a PC save, beat it again in PC ME, load it into PC ME2, and get the code from there to use in my 360 copy of ME3. Extremely convoluted process, but it's that important to me. Better than waiting for word from BioWare.

Just get a refund and wait for the game to go 50%-75% off, by then this will be fixed (most likely by the communtiy) and it'll be selling for what its actually worthMercedes-Benz wrote...
I have made my decision, if this isn't fixed either today or tomorrow, this will be the last Bioware game I ever buy. Enough is enough.

I don't think anyone here would blame you. We've been dealt an injustice. Bugs in games period are not okay, this one is extreme and their lack of community involvement is apalling. That being said i'm still going to wait because I love the games Bioware made in the past and I love the Mass Effect Trilogy, If my story is going to end before the beginning of the ending it's going to die hard.

Unfortunately, the file size that Microsoft allows for patches is relatively small, so the fix may be something that they can do, but if it exceeds the file size limit, we won't get it. Or at least, not the fix we want.

I think part of the reason this bug/glitch/problem got through is due to the 3/6/12 release date for North America. That doesn't happen often, and with EA's publishing as well as their probably ridiculous deadlines, I'm willing to bet that they knew it was there, but in order to meet the timeline they had to just let it slide and hope for the best. This problem will probably take far longer than a week to fix, unless the error is a simple coding misplacement or missing code in general.

Microsoft can be flexible about the patch size limit. Like with Skyrim, New Vegas, and Burnout Paradise.
I don't buy the deadline excuse. This is a core feature of the game. But I agree with your assessment that the patch will take longer than a week. Especially, since BioWare has ignored the issue since last week.

Get a grip peeps, the game has been out less than 48 hours. Using the face code generator, I was actually able to replicate my cannon Shep's face and he actually looks better than his ME2 imported face, The face import bug, so far, has been the only flaw in what I consider to be an incredible game.
For some of us, it's a hard flaw to get past. Literally. Some of us have not played the purported "incredible game" because it opens with such a mind boggling flaw before we even get to start it.

i can see that by the amount of costumization i made in ME1 CC, my ME3 Shep will end up a long-term radiation subject!
The day my game arrives its the day i send it back for refund!
Seems like Bioware got caught by the lack of quality of EA, and its just a shell of what it used to be!
At least make a open xource tool like Skyrim so the COMPETENT people can fix what others failed to do!

Preordered the game soon after gamescom 2011, was waiting for it since then (thats more than 6 months ago). I counted down every hour since i dl+installed in on sunday, was working today counting minutes untill i possibly could play (8.3.00:00, exactly the time i get home when working as usual), then, at 9pm, i got told i could go home earlier, i couldnt believe this, inside i was junping and partying for i had time to prepare, and then, the huge, painful slap in the face with the money and the time i spend waiting and playing me1+me2 with my beloved femshep, scarred for life by the fight with the reapers, me3 told me that the face coulnd be imported.
well, i would have gone on rampage if i would live alone, but so i just keep telling myself "the will fix it, they will make it work soon".

I feel you I tock two days 2 days of work so I can have a 4 day weekend and know I can't play.

I hate you guys are disappointed but I think the above may be a bit hyperbolic, don't you think? I imagine that the bulk of ME fans are probably quite pleased with the product and are playing it now. I'd even wager that the bulk don't even have Bioware accounts and have never visited the forums to complain or praise. They hold a vast majority of unspoken counterpoints to all the negativity on the forums. Just a guess though...

I wonder how Casey Hudson feels when he tries to import his own Shepard that he created in ME1? No offence, just some random thoughts while waiting for the potential patch.
Probably thinks "guess I should've made them fix instead of giving it a pass and hoping the community would fix it"
