Can I get a patch that puts a helmet on my Shepard's head at all times, so I can at least pretend it's my Shepard.

I thought about that as well..In ME2 I didn't wear a helmet when on missions. Now I am lol..After I tried to rebuild my Shep face from pictures I took, I got close but not exactly the same. I couldn't find the hair style I had on him in the creator so I had to settle for something close. Than I got to the citadel and noticed Bailey has the haircut. What irony.

Brings me back to the E3 presentation that Casey did; he looked as if he was hiding or nervous about something.

Maybe this was it, lol.

I find it amazing how everything I look forward to is ****ed up in some way or another.

Is there a separate thread for ME2->ME3 import issues? Or should it all go in here? Because that doesn't work very well either.

Since my ME1 face won't work at all (got the error), I tried importing/using the face code from an ME2 shep who I made within ME2 from scratch in order to look like my original character. That imported, but looks like a bizarre funhouse mirror version of my character. I've messed with the settings but it seems nearly impossible to get him to resemble my custom shepard. It didn't even get the right hair color. Come on. Did enough people not use the shade of brown I picked to warrant you including it in 3 or what?

I appreciate the graphical upgrades in ME3, but I would have at least expected that the face codes would work between 2 and 3. The whole point of this series is the sense of continuity, both with the world you've created through your decisions, and with your character. I'm all for adding new things to the CC, but removing bits that existed before so that our characters can't be imported correctly or at all? It's sort of alarming that the game made it to release without anyone at Bioware noticing this issue. Or has the multiplayer been the focus of so much development time that you've ignored something this basic?

Has anyone imported a custom shepard that is your exact shepard? I wonder if certain facial structures got warped more than others, but given that I can't get the same eyebrows or lips either, perhaps it's much deeper than that.

I have made my decision, if this isn't fixed either today or tomorrow, this will be the last Bioware game I ever buy. Enough is enough.

It's hard for me, because I'm loving Old Republic, but I really think I'm with you on this one.  When they screwed up DA2, well, oh well.  The Mass Effect franchise has been my favorite ever, and now I can't even muster the desire to fire up my XBox ONE DAY AFTER LAUNCH because of how much this RIDICULOUS bug kills my enjoyment of the game.  I've never been so sad to take my support from a company.  =(

yes it is - ME3 is the Matrix Revolutions of the franchise, sold a lot and disapointed the bulk of it fan base, and ended up forgotten.

I hate you guys are disappointed but I think the above may be a bit hyperbolic, don't you think? I imagine that the bulk of ME fans are probably quite pleased with the product and are playing it now. I'd even wager that the bulk don't even have Bioware accounts and have never visited the forums to complain or praise. They hold a vast majority of unspoken counterpoints to all the negativity on the forums. Just a guess though...

Mass Effect is based on choices that you i.e. ´Shepard´  makes - those choices are embodied in the ´Shepard´ you create to play the game,

That Shepard being gone - you end up with an empty experience.

On top of that ME3 is - to put it mildly, visually inferior to ME2 AND ME1

I spent US$85 on it - I am not playing it, to me ME3 is a dud.

This isn't something that was missed, and it's nothing that should be blamed on QA. The simple fact is that BioWare went insane and intended to do this, and didn't care one bit about consistency.

When you import your ME3 character into ME4, you'll get a hanar.

I was devasteted, when ME3 faild to import face of my Shepard. I waited so long to play the final part of ME and now this. The face of imported person was surely not Shepards. Eventually I decidet to use this code tool, so here are effects:

Shepard ME1
Shepard ME 2
Shepard ME 3 (after using code :()
Shepard ME 3 (final)

It took me approx. 90-100 minutes, because there are always details that you feel you can improve. I'm pretty happy with my work - sure, "new" Shepard isn't 100% same as ME1 or ME2. But to be honest, after I saw gameplay I think, that 100% exact import patch will take some time. The faces are just different.
Well I managed to remake my Shepard, but it shouldn't take me 100 minutes. It should've been done with one click, not playing with sliders.

I must say, I'm jealous. You got her looking pretty good, all things considered. I think most NPCs in ME3 look a little different, so it only makes sense that Shepard does. But just a smidge, not like the issues that most people are posting here. This is just unaccpetable.

I'm going to do my best to transfer my 360 ME save to a flash drive later, convert it to a PC save, beat it again in PC ME, load it into PC ME2, and get the code from there to use in my 360 copy of ME3. Extremely convoluted process, but it's that important to me. Better than waiting for word from BioWare.

Of course it is unacceptable. It is one of the biggerst fail I've seen in my gamer life, because it ruins the most important thing of ME Trilogy - experiencing a great story with your own hero, not just some guy/gal randomly created by game itself. If someone at BioWare didn't know how important that feeling is for players, then she/he must be completly ignorant or just stupid. It seems like we can feel blessed, thet no one had idea like "Is Hale/Meer REALLY important? If not, why don't we try someone else?"
Like I said - I can feel lucky, that i re-created my Shepard. But there are lots of people who won't be so lucky, because their Shepard was more complicated then mine. I'm still angry with BioWare, even though I can play so I can just imagine how You feel. Hope that 100% Exact Face Imoprt Patch comes soon.

38 pages this thread, near a hundred and fifty when I stopped going into the other one about this, and only one comment from a Bioware staff member?

It's almost as if you aren't concerned about the reaction to this problem.

Threads like this, started by devs, are to keep all the complaints contained to one place, instead of dozens of topics popping up all over the place.

In theory they will post again when there's an actual fix being tested or they have some type of eta.  For now this thread is here for us to rage in.

Preordered the game soon after gamescom 2011, was waiting for it since then (thats more than 6 months ago). I counted down every hour since i dl+installed in on sunday, was working today counting minutes untill i possibly could play (8.3.00:00, exactly the time i get home when working as usual), then, at 9pm, i got told i could go home earlier, i couldnt believe this, inside i was junping and partying for i had time to prepare, and then, the huge, painful slap in the face with the money and the time i spend waiting and playing me1+me2 with my beloved femshep, scarred for life by the fight with the reapers, me3 told me that the face coulnd be imported.
well, i would have gone on rampage if i would live alone, but so i just keep telling myself "the will fix it, they will make it work soon".
please, bioware, do not dissapoint me, and get it done soon, i even took time off for me3 :(

I feel you I tock two days 2 days of work so I can have a 4 day weekend and know I can't play.

Same, I took two days off work (Work was begging me to take time off anyway since I have 5 weeks of Annual Leave backed up) and my Fiancee is taking tomorrow off for this game and it looks like it was all for nothing. Thanks again Bioware!!

I'm trying the PC fix trick on the Xbox. I can't hold out any longer. I figure their patch fix might not be much other than this process being done automatically.

I suppose the ME1 >> ME2 >> ME3 problem is to be expected. ME1 wasn't an EA game is sort of the blacksheep of the family in that regard so making imports along that route work was probably downgraded in priority.

Maybe I'm starting to have some Oslo syndrome or something, but the longer I spend in the Demo with my me2 facecode face the more I'm thinking that actually it pretty true to original outside of the hair makeup eyeshadow blush and the fact that the way Shep talks and moves her lips is totally different--which nothing is going to change in all likelihood.

I mean we could debate the correctness of Bioware in totally revamping this expression rig all day long but at the end of the day I think neither that nor the flat lighting is going to be patched.

Hey BioWare, thanks for completely invalidating all the customization I spent in ME1 getting my Shepard to look unique and just how I wanted him, just for you to throw all the customization that I spent close to five hours on out the window in the last game of the trilogy.

I get that, I'm not trying to belittle your frustrations. I'm just pointing out that most of that is just opinion and to say that the bulk of ME fandom shares it may be a stretch. For example, though my Shepard isn't identical he's still the Shepard of the story and ALL of his previous decisions hold sway in my game. That's far and away good enough for me.

And I find ME3 to be visually superior to ME1 and on par with 2 if not somewhat better. So to say that the majority of ME fans are behind you on this is extreme to say the least. My guess is that MOST Mass Effect fans are probably completely unphased by any of this and are oblivious to most of the outrage anyway.

Again, I truly am sypathetic to your plight and the fact that you feel bummed out about the game. If you enjoy ME as much as I do, man, it would just suck to not be able to bring myself to play this final piece. I really hope your issues get resolved though Thomas, hate for you to miss out bro.

Wow. This is so extremely dissappointing. It just totally ruins immersion if you cannot get as close as possible a look for your Shepard, when you have tons of screenshots from both 1 & 2.

I'm really hoping this gets fixed very soon. Meanwhile, I guess I'll give the tool a try and stick to multiplayer while I wait.

This is the worst launch glitch ever. Of course it only effects (no pun intended) people who have been with and supported the series from the start. Please Bioware at least give us a timeframe for the patch. If its gonna be a month I'll start up my xbox right now and deal with my car-accident Shepard. I'll still be pissed but less pissed than when someone inevitabely spoils the ending in the meantime.

To be fair, I never posted on the forums until today. I likely never would have if a problem like this never arose. Content people never come online to complain and I never had a reason to use this account until today.

The game is simply broken and unplayable. I just took my copy back to Best Buy. Since it was opened they refused to give me my money back. I argued with the manager and was able to get a gift card of like 85.XX for the cost of the collectors edition. Ill keep checking up on this and plan to buy the game when it works.

I am sure going to wait for this issue to be fixed before I do that.

It is a pity that the element of continuity has been lost - I played ME1 in December last year and ME2 this January, ME2 being better than ME1 in both gameplay and graphics, maybe that raised my expectations too much.
