In the end I just used the face code, but ended up making very many changes, but overall, I think my new face looks even better than the old one. I have always tried to make my Shep look like me, and my new face design is closer than the old, one, so I'll just live with it I guess.

I've been gaming since I was 5 years old, and after 21 years of playing games (that makes me sound so old), this is the most disappointing product launch I've ever experienced.

No film, game, console, hand held, toaster or flavor of frozen yogurt even comes close.

Bioware may claim until the end of time this was a bug, but I truly don't believe they are that incompetent. Whatever gross lapse in judgement brought this about, it has killed my faith in this company. A suitable fix may restore it. But imo, this is a colossal screw up that would be exceeded only by your choices not coming over.

I hope Bioware surprises me with how they handle this.

If you have the face code inside your ME2 save to import, the import WILL work

This is such a bummer. I finally stopped waiting for a fix and decided to bite the bullet and try to recreate my Shepard using the ME3 character creator. Fail fail fail fail fail. I couldn't really even get it close, and when I just started messing around with it just for fun, it seems the character creator itself pretty much sucks. Is it just me or does a lot of stuff (particularly the noses) look pretty goofy? This is unbelievable to me. I'm still just baffled that Bioware decided to go ahead and ignore this and ship the game.

Just wanted chime in and say that I am extremely disappointed by this and will not start playing the campaign until a fix is available. It really is heartbreaking to think that I may not be able to continue the story with my Shepard. I've only played through each game once so in my mind the Shepard I created 4 years ago IS the main character of the story. It's amazing what this series has done to make me so attached to this character that I don't want to continue the story without him... and from reading all of your posts I can see that I'm not alone. Here's to hoping this situation can be remedied...

I honestly do think ME2 CC was the best one it didn't make my shep face totally different from ME1 but ME3 does. I feel like Bioware really isn't going to do anything about it visually and is just going to fix the import glitch problem. I'm more annoyed than disappointed but my concern is what's next?Because I feel they knew about the visual problems but thought they could get away. Bioware please pay attention.

Overall Bioware I am enjoying the game so far if that makes you happy.

I feel the same. I was able to get most of my Shepard looking fairly correct, but the nose is just an abomination no matter how I tweak it. It either looks like it's been broken 10 times, or it's wider than any human nose has the right to be.

So...the face wasn't importing so i decided to pop Mass Effect 2 into the old xbox and check out mah code by remaking my char to how he always looks. Got the code and put it into ME3.

These are the results...after some tweaks ... D8<

I am sure going to wait for this issue to be fixed before I do that.

It is a pity that the element of continuity has been lost - I played ME1 in December last year and ME2 this January, ME2 being better than ME1 in both gameplay and graphics, maybe that raised my expectations too much.

Ah yeah, the appearance issues are probably far more glaring for you than they were for me then since you've played so recently. I haven't played ME2 since I finished it, shortly after its release, so its been a while. I definitely recognized that the import face was wrong but my recreation was good enough to mostly fool my mind since it had been so long. After about an hour, my new Shepard just became Shepard and I honestly can't recall what the minor differences were any more.

Godspeed on a patch for you and all the others that are waiting for it!

I will wait for the fix. Tried to play with a recreated face, but the wrongness of it kept me from enjoying the story.

Yes, ME1 face straight imported to ME2 and borked in ME3.

I have always known this was a trilogy. To have the last chapter soiled by this issue, saddens me.

*puts the game on the shelf for now*

:(

Well, the only thing that is left is to laugh how the BW choked during the ME3 launch. Peace.

No, that would be too much to expect from Bioware.

It'd be nice, at the very least, to hear if the fix is going to add the ME1 assets. If it's just going to try to match the ME1 face to the current ME3 assets, it's not worth waiting.

We don't know the extent of the issue, we don't know whats going on so no we can't. Just remember that M$ and Sony have to test the patch before its released and that might hold up PC release, if they won't do release it at the same time

I know what you mean. I was looking forward to jumping right in the story with my Shepard, but when the game told me it couldn't recognize the face, I got angry. How could Bioware forget about this? Seriously, this is the last game I'll buy from Bioware unless they fix this bug soon, as players in Europe will experience the same thing. Until this bug is fixed, I can't touch the game because I want to play as my Shepard all the way back from ME 1.

Not really.

The ME1 saves arent the only thing broken. I mean, you don't get the error, but you don't necessarily get your Shepard either. My ME2 face code creates a Shepard that is a completely warped version of my own when used in ME3, and no amount of tweaking can get him right because of the changes made to the CC.

It really blows my mind how this sort of mistake could have happened. I tried the PC workaround and still could not even get my Shep looking anywhere near like she should look.

i guess this is the price we pay as a whole for the few who wanted more options in the CC. more options are great, not having my shep is just bad

This is so frustrating, who thought of TAKING OUT features from the CC; hair, eye shadow, whatever else is different. I understand tweaking the hair slightly, but some of the hairstyles are completely different and aren't useable for me and others who used custom Shepards.

For example, going into ME2 from ME1, we had little tweaks here and there and no scars, which makes sense because of Shepard dieing, but overall it made most Shepards look basically the same or better. Now, with the ME3 CC, it's a total overhaul almost, which doesn't help most of us. Why didn't they just stick to tweaking Sheploo and leaving the present features alone / not taking out any hairstyles (whatever else is missing) from ME2.

I do not post here very often, but this ridiculous glitch has forced me to voice my opinion.

I remember a couple of years ago watching my friend play the Virmire mission on Mass Effect 1 and I was like this looks like a pretty decent game. So I went out, got it and fell in love instantly... It was my favorite game I had ever played, I remember finishing it and getting on the internet to look up if Bioware was going to make anymore. To my surprise it was going to be a three game trilogy, I was so excited even know it may be a year or two before the next came out.

Months and months later the first trailers for the second installment of the series popped up on the internet, I was so enthralled I just keep watching them over and over wondering what kind of crazy adventures my sheppard would have. The closer it got to release, the more antsy I got... I had trouble concentrating at work. Then release day was finally here, I went at midnight to my local Wal-mart to pick it up I was so excited to get home and play it. I played through the second Mass Effect and was amazed at the story telling elements, graphics, the rich interactions with my squad mates, I love seeing my old ones (especially Wrex). I just loved it as much as the first one (although I was a little up set Bioware took out some of the rpg elements).

Once again I was unbelievably excited for the third installment. Watched all the trailers over and over again, I was even more excited, but sad at the same time to see the end of my Shepard's story, for the third one. After what felt like ten years release day finally gets here and once again I go to my local Wal-mart, this time wait in a reasonably long line. Finally I get my copy and drive what feels like the 100 miles home. I put the game in my Xbox, make sure my surround sound is pretty loud, get rid of all of the window glare on my tv (I had to wait till the next day to play it), load up my save......... For it to tell me the man I have pictured as Shepard cannot be uploaded and I have to remake his face!

I am very disappointed in what has happened, but I am nowhere as upset I will be if this is not fixed in the next week or two. I mean this is a character I have played as for literally years, I think all of the loyal fans have a strong connection with the Shepard they made and some of us(like me) spent hours molding the face that we thought of when we though, " How would a guy that saves the galaxy look?"
