it's sad that i can not enjoy this supposedly great game because my shep won't import. can't we just get a guestimated date for this fix

We don't know the extent of the issue, we don't know whats going on so no we can't. Just remember that M$ and Sony have to test the patch before its released and that might hold up PC release, if they won't do release it at the same time

If they can't expediate the patch, then they need to expediate their dev team to giving us something for free, and they need to announce it soon, before I start chewing out EA customer service reps to refund my account.

I did it gang and I must say, the PC USB fix for Xbox to get your ME1 import is on-point,

I got my Shepard back even better than original. Give it a shot if you have a USB flash drive.

Well I tried the save file trick, pulling out my face code and all. Did we really loose that many hair colors for the male Sheps? :/

Mine was a natural red head, closer to the orange-ish (in a natural sense) end of that hair group. It was represented by a 1 in the code but came out blonde when I put it in. Jumps around between numbers and letters, seems to be no order to them. Why cut something as small as hair color. Hair styles, yeah I can see how that could happen, but color? Closet thing I can find are these reddish brown shades but ugh none of them are my Shep. :[

Aside from that I guess he's pretty close (I think the nose is wrong) but my favorite thing about him was his hair color and it kinda was his stand out feature. Not sure I can play with this Shep. Now I wonder if that hair color was in ME2 too or the game copied it anyhow despite not being there. If ME2 can do it, why not ME3?

This is so frustrating.

damn it I made his eyeballs a tad too big, I should have kept the slider at 1, but I had to go to 2, now my Shepard glares slightly like Sheploo.

I tried it and my Shepard just looked wrong. I imported the ME1 code into mass effect 2 tweaked it there and then tried it on the ME3 CC. Even after spending an hour trying to tweak it and checking the face in game too I couldn't bring myself to play with the character. It just doesn't look like my Shepard.

I do not post here very often, but this ridiculous glitch has forced me to voice my opinion.

I remember a couple of years ago watching my friend play the Virmire mission on Mass Effect 1 and I was like this looks like a pretty decent game. So I went out, got it and fell in love instantly... It was my favorite game I had ever played, I remember finishing it and getting on the internet to look up if Bioware was going to make anymore. To my surprise it was going to be a three game trilogy, I was so excited even know it may be a year or two before the next came out.

Months and months later the first trailers for the second installment of the series popped up on the internet, I was so enthralled I just keep watching them over and over wondering what kind of crazy adventures my sheppard would have. The closer it got to release, the more antsy I got... I had trouble concentrating at work. Then release day was finally here, I went at midnight to my local Wal-mart to pick it up I was so excited to get home and play it. I played through the second Mass Effect and was amazed at the story telling elements, graphics, the rich interactions with my squad mates, I love seeing my old ones (especially Wrex). I just loved it as much as the first one (although I was a little up set Bioware took out some of the rpg elements).

Once again I was unbelievably excited for the third installment. Watched all the trailers over and over again, I was even more excited, but sad at the same time to see the end of my Shepard's story, for the third one. After what felt like ten years release day finally gets here and once again I go to my local Wal-mart, this time wait in a reasonably long line. Finally I get my copy and drive what feels like the 100 miles home. I put the game in my Xbox, make sure my surround sound is pretty loud, get rid of all of the window glare on my tv (I had to wait till the next day to play it), load up my save......... For it to tell me the man I have pictured as Shepard cannot be uploaded and I have to remake his face!

I am very disappointed in what has happened, but I am nowhere as upset I will be if this is not fixed in the next week or two. I mean this is a character I have played as for literally years, I think all of the loyal fans have a strong connection with the Shepard they made and some of us(like me) spent hours molding the face that we thought of when we though, " How would a guy that saves the galaxy look?"

I feel the exact same way just so disappointed.

So they had time and budget to create Day One DLC, yet they couldn't be bothered to make sure that a VITALLY IMPORTANT component of the game worked properly at launch. Sorta shows where their priorities were at ... hmmm.

Just saying.....

Seriously, am I the only one unable to open the link? I'm not using a censored net but the browser seems to be under the impression it doesn't exist, and starts searching for its keywords instead.

Does anyone have a mirror for that site?
I can't open it.

They should've just forgot about multiplayer and used those resources to help find and fix these bugs.

I think he may have used this http://social.biowar...47811/3#9249327 if not then this http://social.biowar...3/index/2277020. I'm having trouble with the second one myself. I don't really know what i'm doing or what to look for.

The USB fix has several guides of how to do it, however, your result depends on your Shepard. If you were lucky enough to create a Shepard in ME1 with none of the features that were removed or drastically changed in ME3's CC (which were quite a bit), then your Shepard will end up looking pretty good. But if, like the rest of us, you used many of the facial features which were either removed or changed dramatically in ME3, you will still end up with a Shepard that doesn't look quite right.

Good point. They had the time and resources for day 1 DLC....but not to check whether the main selling of the game, importing (which by their DAII track record, they should already know can bring experience destroying bugs), worked properly...

They switched the code into a more hexadecimal system, rather than binary.

They need to post something tomorrow. As time goes by while i'm trying to figure out how best to retain my character i'm growing furious. This sort of bug should have never been an issue and I wish they would've left the character creator alone. :(

Do you guys know that you can still change your imported face in ME3? If you managed to import it, and you pick the custom appearance option it doesn't reset you appearance like ME2 did, instead you can tweak how you look while keeping the face how you want it. I did it for my Shepard and gave him lighter black hair, a different nose, and made the eyes a bit less wide.

So...the face wasn't importing so i decided to pop Mass Effect 2 into the old xbox and check out mah code by remaking my char to how he always looks. Got the code and put it into ME3.

These are the results...after some tweaks ... D8<

I noticed you used the same haircut on your ME2 Shep as I did. I also went with the same as you did in ME3 trying to rebuild my Shep. I wish they had the same hair style in ME3. But I did notice Bailey on the Citadel had the old style..lol

the only thing wrong with these steps I found is step 3.  Modio is useful but there should inbetween telling you to download Horizon http://betastart.com/SW/Horizon.zip .  This program allowed me to open and extract my profile save data from the game save file on my USB.

Then I proceeded with step 3 using Modio to extract the profile save which had 3 saves inside, one of them was my manual save right after the Lazurus project.

Followed the next steps from there on.

I've decided to go ahead and use their CC to recreate my character the best I can and so far it looks pretty good even though it's a bastardized version of my shepard. They got rid of my nose and eyebrows which i'm a bit upset bout. I loved those eyebrows, they were the eyebrows of a champion! I'll post some pics in a minute to show you guys. I'd like some external feedback.

This.

It blows me away that I can't even have the same hair color that I did in ME1 and 2. That's just ridiculous, for such a simple, basic component of the character to be changed at this point. Of course, it wouldn't bug me if that was the only issue. But so much has changed that the face codes are largely incompatible between games. That's inexcusable.

I'm worried that this "fix" they're working on will take weeks to come out, and then will only fix the error message. The fix we really need is for the larger problem at hand, which is how badly the CC changes have screwed up the faces. It's simply unnacceptable to have your shepard warped beyond recognition for the final chapter of this trilogy. Especially considering the amount of time and money we have all invested in this experience since the original game.

I hate phony internet tantrums and ultimatums as much as the next guy, but this will be the last Bioware game I ever purchase if something as basic as bringing my character into this game can't be fixed. And by fixed, I mean I want MY Shepard, not some funhouse mirror version. Solving the error message is not enough. We want our characters to look like our characters.

I’ve spent the better part of almost five hours trying to re-create my beautiful Shephard.

I’ve grown so fond of her throughout the two games; she is the face for the voice, for me, and she’s suffered through all that pain, her heart steadfast.

But she’s gone, now.

Her skin now looks like clay, covered with pockmarks. Her mouth perfectly awful when she speaks, bottom lip jutting out or lips stretching weirdly to the sides. Her hair is nowhere to be seen – gone the close-cropped curls, instead I have the brilliant choice between plastic-helmet hairs, or a short-cropped style that looks like a poorly placed toupee on her poor head. The hairs are WAY too tall – they look like the sort of fluffed-up hairstyles women wore in the 60s.

In the cut scenes, she looks so odd when she speaks that it gives me stomach aches. I can’t make it beyond the first ten minutes of the game before going back and trying again to recreate her, again, and again.

Bioware; why do the characters that looked pretty much the same from ME1 to ME2 suddenly look like morons? Why are the skin textures so weird and awkward? Why do the lips that were lovely in the last game look deformed when the character speaks? I never bothered with mods in ME1 or ME2, but I think I will have to put down this game and hope against hope that someone makes this playable for me.

That I can bring back the character I love so dearly – after all, that’s why I bought the game. Right now, it feels like I bought the last movie in a trilogy, only to have the lead actress of Cate Blanchett replaced with, say, Jack Black. Not cool.

Not angry. Depressed.
