I made a face that kinda sorta looks like my Shepard's older cousin.

That sums up my efforts exactly.

I feel like Conrad Verner somehow killed my Shep between ME2 and ME3, and underwent plastic surgery to look like Shepard, but something went tragically wrong.

I don't know who this impostor is that got imported into my game is, but it's definitely not my Shepard :?

Ughhh.... I have a wife and kids and I know something like this doesn't MATTER in the big picture, but it just hurts so damned much. I have put hundreds of hours into trouncing around the galaxy with MY commander Shepard. I'm amazed at how much it hurt to see that alert come up when trying to import my character into ME3. I did my best to recreate him, but it's just not the same. I'm two hours into the game and giving up until this is fixed for the 360. If it isn't fixed, I want my money back as I feel like I've been cheated.

It wasn't broke, Bioware... Your character models were just fine in ME1 and ME2. Clearly we all got very attached to them.

To be honest, your Shepard looks almost perfect, nicely done :kissing: How long did it take you?

I think its a clever trick by Bioware, so we all use the new default Fem Shep they created for Mass Effect 3 ;)

I wanted to clarify something:

Those of you that imported your character from ME1 to ME2, if you just accepted the imported face As Is, then yes you don't have a face code for that character and ME3 can't read it. However, if you just selected Customize and THEN accepted the face you imported, a face code would have been generated.

It's not Bioware's fault and I understand there's no way one could have foreseen this, but it is what it is. Go load ME2 and ME3 side by side, load your ME2 save and then use the face as a reference for ME3 if you really really want to get the same look you had through the first two games. It's totally possible.

I had to revamp my FemShep in ME2 anyway because the complexion was all wrong and I didn't much care for my results in ME1 in the first place.

I think most of us understand the why. What I don't understand is how exactly it's not BioWare's fault? I didn't program the game. I don't think anyone else here programmed the game. How is this not the fault of the studio who programmed the game?

I mean, it's one thing to say, hey, guys... let's not turn this into a witch hunt, they're trying to fix it. It's another thing entirely to say it's not their fault when it very clearly is.

Facecode in editor is empty.
Use
http://masseffecttools.99k.org/
http://legion.cal24.pl/me2/

Well, just placing the links there with no instructions won't do much good, so here is the post with info on how to get a facecode for an imported Shepard with those websites. This also helps. I generated ME2 facecodes for my two imported Shepards (although the female's eyes look a wee bit different), so I'm ready to wait for my ME3 preorder to get here :)

The thing is, it's not possible for some of us.  As other's have shown, it turns out different because of the new CC.  Some hair options aren't there, eyes are a bit weird, etc.

It is Bioware's fault and of course they would have foreseen this.  How do you think the ME2 importer works?  It pulls the raw face data from your ME1 end save and just uses that.  You know, all the facial geometry and colour vector information etc..  With ME3 it looks like they went the lazy route and decided to just look for a facecode - that was the absolute wrong way to do it.

The other issue here is that plugging in an ME2 facecode doesn't really work anyway (even with tweaks) because they replaced a lot of features.  A lot of people can't recreate their Sheps - it's not always possible to do (perhaps you got lucky).

My Shep cannot be recreated mainly because they replaced the default female eye shape with something very rigid and unsmooth, they replaced the eye makeup with almost none at all, and the iris colours have (yet again) been replaced.  This is unnacceptable when characters like Jack, Joker, Hackett, Ash, Kaidan, Miranda, etc. can all come into ME3 with the same faces as before.

So, If I import Shep from 1 to 2, and then to 3, his face won't import?? Am I correct in assuming that if I make a slight change to him in Mass Effect 2, the face will import properly? Coz I didn't make any changes when I imported to 2....and tbh, I don't really want to re-start my Mass Effect 2 game, seeing as I'm 30+ hrs into it, and almost completed.....

Read my post above yours.  Also, try to do it in the ME3 demo - you'll probably get something that looks somewhat similar... but your ME3 shep won't be similar to your ME2 shep in the same way your ME2 shep is to your ME1 shep... so it's mainly a question of, "can you live with him looking this different?"...

I could not disagree more. I believe a lot of people (myself included) knew unedited ME1 imports did not have face codes in ME2.

If this bug is caused solely by the CC's inablility to read imports without face codes, then BioWare should have caught this problem.

Thanks =) I'll give it a go later.... just hope it gets sorted asap.... took me ages to get my Shep to look right!
And, seeing as I've got 2 custom Shepards (1 Paragon, 1 Renegade) I'm not looking forward to recreating both!! =P

Well, not long... I mean, you do have to go thru the entire ME2 opening :P I think it took me around an hour, maybe a bit less. It's not hard, so be sure to try! (and maybe show results ;) )

And then multiply that by the number of savegames that you're going to be importing. Add in whether your particular features are even available.

The irony is what Anderson says to Shepard in his first line:

"Looking good Shepard."

I just think: oh my god, I can't believe BW did this to us. Its not looking good, damn it, is not Shepard, can´t you see that?

I am returning the game tomorrow if we don't get a fix by then, or at least an explanation and an ETA on the fix.

All the excitement build up is lost anyway. As disappointed as I am now, I can perfectly wait more three months and buy the game for 20 bucks.
