I wanted to clarify something:

Those of you that imported your character from ME1 to ME2, if you just accepted the imported face As Is, then yes you don't have a face code for that character and ME3 can't read it. However, if you just selected Customize and THEN accepted the face you imported, a face code would have been generated.

It's not Bioware's fault and I understand there's no way one could have foreseen this, but it is what it is. Go load ME2 and ME3 side by side, load your ME2 save and then use the face as a reference for ME3 if you really really want to get the same look you had through the first two games. It's totally possible.

I had to revamp my FemShep in ME2 anyway because the complexion was all wrong and I didn't much care for my results in ME1 in the first place.

I could not disagree more. I believe a lot of people (myself included) knew unedited ME1 imports did not have face codes in ME2.

If this bug is caused solely by the CC's inablility to read imports without face codes, then BioWare should have caught this problem.

I DID click Customize. I thought it would let me just change one thing. Then I found out that it makes me start over so I accepted my import. I HAVE a code. But if I enter it it just gives me a default preset face.

I'm really annoyed by this, this feature should of been picked up in early stages of development

if it cannot detect faces then there be more issues detecting the user data too

The other issue here is that plugging in an ME2 facecode doesn't really work anyway (even with tweaks) because they replaced a lot of features.  A lot of people can't recreate their Sheps - it's not always possible to do (perhaps you got lucky).

I can't emphasize this point enough. Even if they somehow figure out how to get a face code out of our imports, some of us are still screwed.

This is a f'ing joke right? I was intending on avoiding this forum until the game was released here but I just heard about this and I had to find out what was going on. Some of us have actually played the first game and have become rather attached to our Shepards. And what the hell is this about it being fine if you altered your ME1 in 2? Wasn't that a feature that was revealed with fanfare because it was so gravely missed by some in ME2?

Dammit!! And I was looking forward to playing tomorrow....don't think I'll open the wrapping untill a patch is released....thanks very much Bioware....

I for one, and fed up of being screwed over by game developers, spending my well earned money on games that are not complete!! Take Skyrim for instance, thats had 4 patches since release last november....are Mass Effect fans going to have to suffer the same fate as Skyrim players?? I hope not.

I've been a huge fan of Bioware games for years, (KOTOR I & II, DA:O, Jade Empire and Mass Effect 1 & 2) but, now I feel cheated... take the day 1 DLC.... just because I didn't get the N7 edition, I miss out on a very important character!! If only they had all issues/bugs fixed on release.(which, was pushed back!!) instead of making DLC.....

Like I said, I'm in two minds as to whether I'll play ME3 tomorrow.....

I should admit I'm not having any import problems because I chose the customization option after importation and just kept as the original with just a new beard feature. What I do really want fixed but think it will be a impossible task is I'm really annoyed on how the way this new CC is. It may be my shepard with updated graphics and all but overall its still different. And I hardly play as femshep just for kicks, but seriously when I meant fix make up I didn't mean make it subtle. I still think they should've of kept the ME 2 CC format and tweaked for new hairstyles and other things.

Overall whatever problem gets fixed I think you guys will enjoy this game.

Well after using the facecode for my ME2 character I can say that I am gravely disappointed with the results.  I spent some time tweaking but could not get the character anywhere like I had in the first two games.  Maybe I'm supposed to just pretend that from the time between ME2 and ME3 my character became overweight, let his hair run wild, and hired a witch doctor to shrink his forehead.

Well, took 'em lomg enough to say something. But as I stated in another thread, until this gets fixed, I'm not touching the campaign at all. I mean really...someone was seriously slacking during testing. Laziness, plain and simple. I'll just entertain myself with the thought that the people responsible for this cancerous sore in my game are indoctrinated.

Same problem. Tried it with face code from ME2 save but he looked nothing like before. Recreating seems ti be impossible also, because I can' recreate the hair, eyes, brows and nose right which is almost the whole face. Looks like I have to wait for a patch or I will regret it everytime I see his face during the game :P
I already did a Shepard that looks a bit better than before but thats not the point, because he looks totally different. It's like playing with another character.

Edit: Hopefully the patch will be released before the weekend. However I guess they won't release a hotfix, but rather put it into the first real patch which will be released 1-4 weeks after release.

Yeah this is what I'm not liking about this new CC, completely different facial graphics. When I imported my face and then chose to customize it  I saw that the facial code did look very similar to ME2. So to those complaining about the code I don't really think it could be anything wrong and rather its just the new graphics look your not accustomed to. But I also accept that I'm wrong.

Thanks for addressing  this issue. Please hurry .
This issue is VERY important to true fans of the game - the fans who have supported and loved ME since day one  - the fans who care about  the story and characters of the game as much as the action.
To have created and  lived with my Shepard for all of these years and to see my new best approximation of my real Shepard in ME3 is quite frankly sickening. I find that watching my best ME3 approximation of my Shepard speaking with the true Shepard's voice to be quite disconcerting - it never fails to break my emersion into the game.

The ME level of emersion is something I've found  to be unique in gaming and something I've cherished about the series until now. The visuals and how characters look are a big part of this experience.
I know some think it's a minor problem. Maybe you feel that way too. But, I assure you that you've created a Frankenstien, many of us REALLY care about Commander Shepard, the characters, and the entire ME universe. I always felt that this was the kind of game you meant to make and how you meant us to experience the game. I hope I'm not wrong.

Sadly my FemShep has the violet eyes, pulled back haircut, heavy black eyeshadow and black lipstick. Those options aren't even in the demo CC of ME3 and so far as I've heard the full version is no different.

They don't need to fix the face code issue, they need to completely reinstate the ME1-ME2 import for ME3, with all it's proper options. Patches can do anything you want to a game, all they have to do is write the code or grab it back from ME2 - I don't care if that means an expanded CC with some near-duplicated options, or an extra sidequest on the Normandy where Shep has some extra face work done for a price (like removing the Renegade scars), all I want is to get my Shep into ME3.

Any chance we can get an ETA of a patch for this bug? I know you guys are busy trying to fix the issue, but I would like to know along with many others I'm sure if we are going to be waiting a day or two, or if it is going to be a week from now for this to be addressed. I am sitting on the edge of my sofa hitting refresh waiting for this upate.

What I want to know is what exactly were they doing in the time they had from when they pushed back the original release date to the current release date when things like this could slip through the cracks due to either neglect, indifference or simple lack of bother...

If I messed up like this in my job I'd be fired. Plain and simple.

Can we get an ETA, Bioware? I'd like to know if I'll have to wait days, or weeks, or what before I can actually play this game. Preferably only a few days, considering how huge of a deal this is to your fans who simply want to play as the same Shepard they've grown connected to and have been playing as for years.

Yep - give us a date. If we don't have an idea of whether it will be days, weeks, or months, I'm going to return this game.
