I DID click Customize. I thought it would let me just change one thing. Then I found out that it makes me start over so I accepted my import. I HAVE a code. But if I enter it it just gives me a default preset face.adonfraz wrote...

I wanted to clarify something:
Those of you that imported your character from ME1 to ME2, if you just accepted the imported face As Is, then yes you don't have a face code for that character and ME3 can't read it. However, if you just selected Customize and THEN accepted the face you imported, a face code would have been generated.
It's not Bioware's fault and I understand there's no way one could have foreseen this, but it is what it is. Go load ME2 and ME3 side by side, load your ME2 save and then use the face as a reference for ME3 if you really really want to get the same look you had through the first two games. It's totally possible.
I had to revamp my FemShep in ME2 anyway because the complexion was all wrong and I didn't much care for my results in ME1 in the first place.
I could not disagree more. I believe a lot of people (myself included) knew unedited ME1 imports did not have face codes in ME2.
If this bug is caused solely by the CC's inablility to read imports without face codes, then BioWare should have caught this problem.

I can't emphasize this point enough. Even if they somehow figure out how to get a face code out of our imports, some of us are still screwed.AwesomeName wrote...
The other issue here is that plugging in an ME2 facecode doesn't really work anyway (even with tweaks) because they replaced a lot of features. A lot of people can't recreate their Sheps - it's not always possible to do (perhaps you got lucky).

I for one, and fed up of being screwed over by game developers, spending my well earned money on games that are not complete!! Take Skyrim for instance, thats had 4 patches since release last november....are Mass Effect fans going to have to suffer the same fate as Skyrim players?? I hope not.
I've been a huge fan of Bioware games for years, (KOTOR I & II, DA:O, Jade Empire and Mass Effect 1 & 2) but, now I feel cheated... take the day 1 DLC.... just because I didn't get the N7 edition, I miss out on a very important character!! If only they had all issues/bugs fixed on release.(which, was pushed back!!) instead of making DLC.....
Like I said, I'm in two minds as to whether I'll play ME3 tomorrow.....

This is a ****g joke right? I was intending on avoiding this forum until the game was released here but I just heard about this and I had to find out what was going on. Some of us have actually played the first game and have become rather attached to our Shepards. And what the hell is this about it being fine if you altered your ME1 in 2? Wasn't that a feature that was revealed with fanfare because it was so gravely missed by some in ME2?

I already did a Shepard that looks a bit better than before but thats not the point, because he looks totally different. It's like playing with another character.
Edit: Hopefully the patch will be released before the weekend. However I guess they won't release a hotfix, but rather put it into the first real patch which will be released 1-4 weeks after release.

Well after using the facecode for my ME2 character I can say that I am gravely disappointed with the results. I spent some time tweaking but could not get the character anywhere like I had in the first two games. Maybe I'm supposed to just pretend that from the time between ME2 and ME3 my character became overweight, let his hair run wild, and hired a witch doctor to shrink his forehead.

Yeah this is what I'm not liking about this new CC, completely different facial graphics. When I imported my face and then chose to customize it I saw that the facial code did look very similar to ME2. So to those complaining about the code I don't really think it could be anything wrong and rather its just the new graphics look your not accustomed to. But I also accept that I'm wrong.

This issue is VERY important to true fans of the game - the fans who have supported and loved ME since day one - the fans who care about the story and characters of the game as much as the action.
To have created and lived with my Shepard for all of these years and to see my new best approximation of my real Shepard in ME3 is quite frankly sickening. I find that watching my best ME3 approximation of my Shepard speaking with the true Shepard's voice to be quite disconcerting - it never fails to break my emersion into the game.
The ME level of emersion is something I've found to be unique in gaming and something I've cherished about the series until now. The visuals and how characters look are a big part of this experience.
I know some think it's a minor problem. Maybe you feel that way too. But, I assure you that you've created a Frankenstien, many of us REALLY care about Commander Shepard, the characters, and the entire ME universe. I always felt that this was the kind of game you meant to make and how you meant us to experience the game. I hope I'm not wrong.

They don't need to fix the face code issue, they need to completely reinstate the ME1-ME2 import for ME3, with all it's proper options. Patches can do anything you want to a game, all they have to do is write the code or grab it back from ME2 - I don't care if that means an expanded CC with some near-duplicated options, or an extra sidequest on the Normandy where Shep has some extra face work done for a price (like removing the Renegade scars), all I want is to get my Shep into ME3.
