Got to say, I'm surprised... that tool people have been linking to DOES actually work... more or less. I managed to salvage my maleShep, and, with some tweaking... he might not be exact, but it's close enough it looks like the same character to me. ...unlike my femShep. HER, well... I really don't think anything can be done there without the patch. I tried, and it almost looked like her... until I actually started the game; it just wasn't my character.

...I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, if you have a male character, it may be worth it to give that workaround a try. It's still COMPLETELY ridiculous that Bioware dropped the ball so horribly that we have to go through this, and I won't even attempt a femShep again until the fix... but I managed a character I'm okay with playing for now, at least.

I'm stuck with the 360, so I don't have this option. I just get to play the waiting game! :D

It's pretty clear that since EA took over there has been a definite shift from catering to the niche gamer which was BioWare's forte, to appeal to the generic three fingered shooter troglodyte type faceless mass player that EA/Activision/McDonalds so know and love.

They push back the release date and instead of ensuring the entire trilogy single player experience is a flawless, glitchless experience, they ignore whatever issues that come up and waste time developing other rather pointless and unneccessary components to the franchise. Multiplayer, kinect, launch day DLC.

And their oldest fanbase? Guys who stuck with them since KOTOR or even older? What about those people?

They get screwed. They get screwed without even the courtesy of being addressed with something other than a vague "oh yeah we are kinda working in it. It'll be ready er, sometime. Thanks for the money, you saps".

Meanwhile on twitter they talk space balloon launches and YouTube clips and other pointless rubbish that will appeal to the same people attracted by silver paper and hummingbirds.

At least I got kind of an acknowledgement from Chris on Twitter. Casey? He must be having golfing games these days with Bobby Kotick.

Last Bioware product I ever buy. That's for sure.

Sad to say, but that seems to be the state of things. You got it spot-on. I was worried about this ever since I heard EA had bought them out. I guess it's the fate of all things that are unique and quality in this corporate society we are stuck in.

Ugh, I got used to my awkward, slightly gaunt Shepard. He grew on me. He wasn't really that bad looking. The abomination I have made in a vain attempt to come close to his original appearance makes me a little sick to my stomach. God the new character creation screen is a **** pile... Why is it that from ME1 to ME2 the character creators were good, or at least the one in ME2 let you create something similar, if not identical, to what you had in ME1, but in ME3 we can barely get close.

The faces all seem fatter or rounder and stuff... and I the equivalent of my old Shep's hair isn't all frizzy like it used to be... *pout*

I shouldn't have to build up willpower to play a game that I've been anticipating so long... I swear, once/if they fix this I am deleting this save file. I don't care how much progress I have.

This is a complete travesty and an egg on the face of Bioware and all the devs involved. I've played since day one of ME 1 with the promise of carrying MY Shepard through MY version of the story. Now after years of waiting to finish the story I'm stuck with either waiting or playing a bastard version of MY Shepard. It's like they decided to replace Harrison Ford with Tom Sellek in Return of the Jedi. This needs to be updated, fixed, and acknowledged by someone other than a community manager and it needs to happen quickly. Oh, and I'm also paying $15 a month for SWTOR. C'mon Bioware you are better than this!

Yes. I have been playing since ME1 and I guess I am using features that are no longer available because he looks nothing like my Shepard at all.

Can anyone help me with a DECENT code for a replacement Femshep?!? I had an almost default Femshep for my paragon infiltrator in ME and ME2 and the default is very difficult to replicate in ME3. PLEASE help... I have a cookie!
:(
edit: I have tried the couple codes on this thread, the head's not right. The shape of the jaw or skull? I dunno...

Hey after I tried the demo, and didn't seem to be able to recreate my old femshep I started her from scratch, in previews games I would go for the first preset and modify it, so I basically for ME3 I did some adjustments to the eyes which in my point of view is what makes them look different to what we had before, I also changed the cheeks and cheek bones a little bit, I ended up with this code that looks a lot like to what my old femshep was.

The code is 753.Q9G.G67.F1A.JDQ.66Q.1DA.811.966.413.6G5.275

If you don’t like the skin tone, eyes, hair you can change it,  I think that all the elements are there, the problem is that with the new options, the order is different that’s why they don’t match when you import. I added make up to give some effect to the eyes like before.

No face codes from ME1. I got that face code from the transfer to PC method. I plugged it in to ME2 and got the code on photo bucket.

To be honest, I'm not really that bummed out about this. I've played and loved the game since the ME1 (several play throughs on each) but if everything else is fine recreating my Shepard's face is the least of my worries. I get that it was REALLY bad on Bioware's part to miss something as big as this - and with the extended development, nothing should have been missed - but, again, this doesn't kill the game for me as it does other people.

That said, should I have to recreate Shep's face (can't play the game until tomorrow), do the facial scars carry over if you decided not to heal them? Curious about that because I always liked that feature. Also, has anyone lost anything OTHER than their face such as decisions, etc.?

This whole ordeal is pretty unbelievable. That they're buying themselves as much time as they can by neglecting their consumer base is very bad PR. Communication is key, guys - this is a very abusive consumer relation you've developed. You're losing my stock if this isn't fixed by tomorrow.

Yes, they have 24 hours to fix it, otherwise this is the last game I will buy from them. Enough is enough.

So I tried the Modio/Mass effect tools file edit thing posted a few pages back to get my Shepard's (femshep) facecode. Plugged it into ME3, and suprisingly enough it was very close. Lost my original eye color and hairstyle, but everything else is right.

Previously I'd played about 3 hours with a Shep I created that was in the ballpark but still off. My sense of relief at finally seeing MY Shepard back was visceral. Finally I can dig in and start enjoying this game, and see my Shepard's story through to the end, without being constantly distracted by Stranger Shepard Syndrome.

I'm just posting this in case anyone out there is on the fence about trying the workaround. It isn't that complicated, doesn't take a ton of time, and if it works for you it is totally worth it. I'm really sorry for those of you who have tried the work around and still weren't able to get good results. Hope Bioware fixes this snafu sooner rather than later.

Edited to add that I'm on a 360. And also that it really took exiting the CC and actually starting the game to see how close the recreation matched my original Shep. The CC doesn't give you the best idea of how your Shep will actually look fully animated in the actual game.

This is very strange.

The more Paragon points I get, the more my Shepard is starting to look like herself again.

Here's the thing: A lot of people are belitting this whole ordeal as a superficial affair, one procreated by sensationalist and self-obligating gamers who invest far too much emotional value into something as menial as the way their videogame characters look.

Fine, it's true.

What's even more true is the fact that this is a videogame series that has presented itself as the near pinnacle of cinematic presentation. Your protagonist is not an ephemeral hero-to-the-rescue, they are a character. You define this character. Your squadmates are characters. In much a way this is as much television, as much film, as it is a videogame - these aren't mere AI's, these are personalites that have been promoted to near life-like roles in gamer's lives. And in the same way, your character is as part of this cast as all others.

Imagine if Buffy came back for Season 3 with a replacement actor. Imagine if Shia LeBouf suddenly began playing Don Draper. Think the same for why gamers are infuriated over this obvioiusly conscious glitch in ME3 and you can at least begin to sympathize with how agitating a move as this has become. Bioware is degrading the worth of their company by releasing unfinished products to a consumer it has the vehement loyalty of. It's like abusing your loyal, pet dog.
