Please put out a PSA when the patch to fix this goes live because I can't play ME3 with a Shepard that's not my own;) In the meantime I'll replay ME2:)

I hope bioware will compensate us with some dlc for this frustration I have tried getting the code to my shep but with the xbox 360 version is hard cant seem to get the code when I do the Import from me1 and have tried to make it from scratch and can come close to what I had.

Well I got a pretty good result out of using the temporary fix(on the Demo). One of my mansheps:

Dudesheps seem to come out better than femsheps. The faces are longer in ME3 for some reason..kinda weird but whatever.

He kind of goes from being a hard-looking man to someone you might see on Friends.

Thank you for finally replying, Bioware. I was pretty upset about this. Still curious how it slipped under the bug radar before and still disdained, but glad to see it being addressed.

Really?  Because the eyes from the ME3 one (on the left) really bother me.  Like she's going to drill a hole into you by staring at you.  I also think it's weird that it looks like she got younger.  I don't think she looks bad, but it's kind of besides the point -- which is that she's not my Shepard.  She's like ImposterShep.  It's almost right, but different enough to be very jarring.  I should be focusing on the story but in any cut scene I just keep thinking "That's not my Ava!!"

That's what I really noticed about my femshep imports that converted: the eyes and the lips. I had one paragon femshep who had very friendly eyes, and lips that were almost upturned into a subtle smile, but any eyes and/or lips I put on her in the ME3 customization screen made her look really serious or scary. That really sucks because even those really subtle things say monumental amounts about her character.

The hairstyle on my PC FemShep isn't even in ME3 - it was the pulled-back hair that gives her a large forehead. That style simply doesn't exist.

As others have said, even with the fix things still look off.
One would think that the next game should improve or mantain the graphics level, but seeing my ME2 face vs ME3....

I remember reading that the reason for the longer faces has to do with the new facial animations or something. Yet my biggest complain its the eyes.... all of them look off.

NOTE: this is the result I got with the demo, but after seeing some youtube videos looks like the graphics are the same.

Edit: fixed link.

Actually what I find most amazing is when you look back at Me1 to ME2 comparisons the transition is just done so completely right. ME2 characters look exactly like a more advanced but still identically-proportioned version of their ME1 counterparts.

Every ME3 imported face I have seen on these forums looks wrong in at least a couple of respects - it's like the person who actually built the ME3 face creator themselves had to start from scratch and remake each possible face option, with only partial success.

This should have been checkbox number one on the ME3 game creation checklist. Item 1 - "can players import their personal Commander Shepard faces?" Y/N.

I think 90% of people on these forums would gladly trade in the entire multiplayer aspect of the game in exchange for a working ME1 face import function.

This is happening to me too. I am honestly really disapointed with this. Thanks for a work around but this feel like a rookie mistake that you guys should not be making. I understand and expect bugs and stuff but this whole import thing is retarded. That was one of the biggest features, how did you guys let that slip? It makes me not want to play and if I can't create my shepard I kinda don't want to. My shep has a masculine face for a women, after ME1 it's not there anymore! I'll calm down eventually but please hurry and fix this. I luv my shep I wanna play the game with her. okay there's my rant.

All ME2 faces seem to get downgraded in ME3. They even look like ME1 faces graphically.

Wow, an official statement. Something like this before the game was out would have helped a lot. There better be an announcment date for the patch fixing this mess when ME3 hits Europe, otherwise I'm seriously not even interested anymore.

to be fair, the creation screen and squad screen makes it all look like crap. like, it looks like SWTOR but in game it looks a lot better

Yeah. I made mine look as close as I could on the creation screen (passable at least, I thought) and then when I got into the game I was pleasantly surprised to see the Shepard I came to know and love on screen!  The creation screen does not look the same as in game.

Edit: I'd post a pic to show mine through the trilogy if I knew how. *sigh* But all 3 look quite alike despite the model changes through each game.

The tool isn't working. When I go to http://legion.cal24.pl/me2/ I just get a warning message

I went with the default face for my Shepard in ME1 and ME2. The one thing I'm concerned about is the scars that Shepard acquired from ME2. Were those supposed to transfer over as well? If so will I get them back if I wait for a fix?

Hooray, the scramble of people trying to salvage face codes for their Shepards has broken the tool site due to too much traffic. Hopefully my timezone difference might help me access it at a time when American users are all asleep but, basically, that's what happens when we have to rely on ourselves to get our own Shepards back. It really is just incredible that this wasn't identified during testing as something that had to be fixed. Add my name to those who would happily have foregone the entirety of multiplayer to make sure that my Shepard remains my Shepard. (And I'm looking forward to trying the multiplayer, by the way, but such a big selling point of the series was the continuity of your very own Shepard)

I took screenshots of some of my custom sheps in ME2 up close, frontal views mostly, using the steam...and then i used the character creator in the ME3 demo to make them look exactly alike, well mostly....by switching back and forth between the game and desktop...and then wrote down the facecode for them in case the faceimport dont work when i get the full version....thats my plan until a patch is up...

They could be brothers, but they are not the same....

EDIT: Link died for some reason
New link: i.imgur.com/1wUMq.jpg

After some failed attempts of recreating my Shepard(2 playthroughs ME1 and 2 playthroughs in ME2), I think this is the most close as I can get with the current character creation. The reason a possible patch/fix/workaround is going to take weeks is because I (as a programmer) think they have completely overhauled the CC in ME3. As you can see in the picture illustrated above, the bone structures of the face and general skin complexity is way lower than in ME2. Also there are less option available to change.

If they want to reverse the CC back to the CC of ME2(Which will be HUGE fix), they also are going to change the characters which have been created with the CC of ME3, which in turn will upset new players to the series.
And that is not even the biggest problem, as I have seen some characters in some movies on youtube who have returned in this sequel and they look entirely different aswell. So it almost seems impossible for Bioware to fix.
