Issue importing faces into Mass Effect 3 Updated March 21

I'm so worried this issue will ruin the whole experience for me.
Spending 2 games building up my FemShep, to have her image changed for the final chapter... Not good.

What the OP says is truth: your character looks slightly different during design but as soon as I watched the first cut scene I knew it was my Shep!

That's what we're left to assume, anyhow, due to the lack of communication.

Do not despair peeps. It took me about 3 hours of research and experimentation, but I got my exact Shepard face (and IMO, he looks even better!) using this guide: http://social.bioware.com/forums/forum/1/topic/323/index/9247811/3#9249327

Well it's good to hear you're one of the lucky few. I think the rest of us aren't because the characer assets from the previous CC aren't in ME3

It's been three days without a single piece of new information. So what we're left to assume is that it's a major issue and they messed up badly, or just didn't feel like telling us and now they're rolling their thumbs. So hey, months.

Have you ever done software development? One wrong piece of code and you could make the game unplayable. I know some will say "but the game is already unplayable without my Shepards face!" but I mean, really, truly, non-bootable unplayable. Plus, console patches have to go through certification before they are released. I know patience is a rarity in gaming forums but it's been only 3 days...
Not saying I was not a little miffed by this bug, but I found a workaround that functioned for me (see previous post) and have been enjoying the game ever since. To quote Axl Rose: what we all need is a little patience.

I had practiced the character creator in the demo in case this happened and within 10 minutes i was able to get my shepherd back (more or less)
He looks like my shepherd 99% of the time so far, occasionaly he will look a little different during very up close situations, but overall i am very happy that IT IS my shepherd i certainly dont have the "disconnected feeling" i was worried about.
Loving the game so far, the normandy feels weird because at the moment i dont have a lot of crew, but the N7 hoodie and robot dog are wicked.
Cannot wait to continue, its one of those games which is so good you dont want to end, whilst at the same time you can't wait to finish to find out what happens. only mass effect games have had this effect on me.

I don't think he was being unreasonable at all. I much like everyone else just want small informational updates every now and then besides, "We're looking into it."
And while incremental updates might not bear a whole lot of information, they could at least alleviate users by saying, "Hey guys, we understand we screwed up so we're gonna credit you guys on the next DLC" or something ease the tension.
Saying nothing beyond "We're looking into it" doesn't help. Even a rough guess of "It might take a month" is better than nothing.

Now, now, the point wasn't "URGH IT'S BEEN TOO LONG WHY ISN'T THERE A FIX YET" which would be unreasonable unless it was an extremely minor issue.
My issue is with Bioware's communication, communication being something I do have experience with, and it has been faulty since well, forever.
The hyperbole is justified simply because they allow it to exist. A bit of assurance every now and again, and the mob would pipe down just a little bit.
This doesn't look good, and keeping up appearances is important. I don't even want an ETA. I want them to assure their fans that they're looking into it, and continually updating them about the status of their faulty product.
It's mindboggling from my perspective, but I don't have all the facts. If there's a reason as to why they shouldn't keep us updated, do share, and it has to be a reason that isn't "because they suck at what they do and they don't want people to know," pretty please.
Edited for more commas that are absolutely necessary, yes-yes.

I too am one of the many affected by this. I thought I would drop you all a line to encourage you to vote with your wallets, and word of mouth. The MAIN thing any business pays attention to is sales. Right now there are only 19 reviews for the XBOX collectors edition on Amazon, and most of them are positive. And there are currently only 56 reviews for the standard edition, again mostly positive. There are still plenty of people who haven't bought the game yet. If they are encouraged to wait until a patch has been issued, by honest reviews talking about the problem we are all talking about here, then that may light a fire under EA/Bioware's feet to: #1, address the issue, and give an ETA, and #2 not ignore it and hope it will go away.
TL;DR
Review the game if you own it on places like Amazon, and honestly state your opinion of the state the game was shipped to you in, and whether you consider it playable or not as it is now.
Asayogure is right. We must all go to Amazon.com and give the game 1 star because of the face bug. Doing that will get EA to say something.

I booted up Mass effect 2, imported my character from mass effect 1, then made the face look identical, and copied the code into ME3.
With a bit of tweaking he looks almost exactly the same, but I'm finding the game difficult to enjoy because I'm not really paying attention to the story, instead I am looking at Sheppard's face to see if he looks the same. Really frustrating because I really want to get into the game.

I know many people have been saying the main issue with the ME3 CC is the eyes but for me the hair was equally disturbing. It wasn't the hairstyles themselves, since I could always pretend my Shepard got a haircut between ME2 and ME3, but the texture and look of them. The hair is so shiny and smooth it looks plastic or like my Shep is wearing a weird-looking helmet.
With black or dark hair the problem isn't that noticeable but with blonde hair it's a nightmare. It isn't helped by the colours of the eyebrows. Some of the blonde eyebrows look like they're made of paint, not hair.
I just reached the Citadel and I'm actually surprised how much it bothers me. I knew I wouldn't be happy but I thought I'd be able to ignore it.
I guess I'll have to try again. I just wish Bioware would tell us if they think this is going to take a long time to fix or not, or if it's unfixable, I'd welcome any news really.

This is the most disgusting mistake I've come across in my gaming history.
Edit: And since some ppl are forgetting about this poll, I'll be doing the link reposting thing until we get some numbers.

I simply cannot believe this made it through testing. Did not a single tester not try and import a ME1 save into ME2 and then into ME3?? Surely that would be an obvious thing to test. Incredible.
Name and shame the QA team I say.

To be fair, I'd be surprised if QA didn't catch it. Its their job to find bugs, after all. Its the developer's jobs to decide to fix them or not.Bobs22 wrote...
Staggering that this got past QA. They should all be fired for such an obvious bug.
I also haven't started my game yet and I'm one of those who won't until this thing is fixed. The fact taht there's a glitch isn't what upsets me. Glitches happen, I understand that, but the fact that this was one of the major features of the series as a whole, you'd think they would've gotten that right. On top of that, its not like the glitch is buried deep in the game somewhere where most people probably won't find it. Its right at the start of the game.
I understand that there are work arounds but I don't see why I should have to bother. Its not like you buy a new car only to find out when you get it home that you have to put work into it yourself to get it to work like it should've in the first place.
Unfortunately I think Bioware's just gonna come back after a week or two and just point at what the EA FAQ said; "Some [read: most if not all of customized Shepards] ME2 saves will not be able to import the face-file of your Shepard. You will need to re-create the appearance when importing the file."
