What an absolute ****ing JOKE. This is the best I can do thanks to the fact that ME3 has roughly 5% of the facial features that were available in ME2. How do they expect us to rebuild our character faces when they take out eyes, noses, jaw shapes etc?? And what the hell is with the tiny range of skin tones? You're either black or asian, apparently. Nothing paler.
And the worst thing is - I doubt this is going to be fixed. : THIS talks only about them fixing the cloud save issue. Not the faces. I seriously doubt they're going to add back all of the facial features they removed from ME2 - it would be too big of a job and I'm sure they knew that they'd be changing it this much and don't care.
I, like many here, cannot play ME3 without our Shepards looking like they did for the past 200+ hours of gameplay. What a ****ing joke. I've never been so angry at a developer for changing something so important.

Any one know how far they are from the fix? I would like to start playing ME3 any time now... :/
There has been no status update beyond what Chris posted on page one three days ago.

If your characters were created in me1 and unchanged in me2, there will be no facecode. That is what the work around tools are trying to do is recover a face code you can use as a starting point.CrazyGreggy wrote...
Haven't been able to read through all 76 pages, but on a somewhat scary note I loaded my ME2 save files via Gibbed, and for the characters that I'd tried to import into ME3 that I'd not modified in any way during ME2, the face code appears to have gone completely. The appearance is still there, but no face code appears on character pages or in the save game file.

I'd recommend waiting for it to go 40-75% off its not worth much, the dialgoue feels stilted, the CC is totally screwed up, so far I've enjoyed the bugs more than the game. Wait for a few patches and a slash in pricesbladeofwoe wrote...
So, burning question....
should I go and get Mass Effect 3 or not?? So far I've read the import doesn't work, the journal doesn't show an indepth explination of side-quests, and you can't holster weapons like you could in 1 & 2....
I hope the game isn't like this because of the Multi-player being added.... I was scared MP would ruin the game....looks like I was right =(
Dammit!! I love Mass Effect aswell!
Damn!! I've been waiting since it was announced!!
Like I said, I love the Mass Effect games and universe!! I've spent hrs on making a custom Shepard I actually like the look of!
I know games evolve, and devs are always striving to do and try new things.....but all the game series' I've played, be it KOTOR, Fallout Series, SW:TFU and many others, the core of the game, and in most cases the content/custom options and things fans have grown to love and expect have all stayed exactly the same!
Take Fallout 3 and New Vegas for instance, New Vegas had the same gameplay/custom options that FO 3 had, only improved upon! I find it disconcerting that the CC in ME3 is completely different to what is was in 1 & 2.... I have a feeling BioWare/EA wanted to target new audiences rather than delivering a solid, well executed game to people who have been a fan of the series since 2007.
Take the launch trailer, one caption was "A great intro to the series" Really??? I always thought Mass Effect was a trilogy, Shepards story. What happens if Shep dies in 2?? It'd be like watching Empire Strikes Back, and Luke died on Bespin, only for his twin brother Liam Skywalker to be in ROTJ....
Like I said, EAoWare want the sales....they don't seem to care much for fans of their games at all.... I even put of buying DA 2 (I loved Origins!) just because lots and lots of people said DA2 was a far cry away from what made Origins amazing.....seems I'll have to wait abit longer to buy ME3, so I can actually enjoy it

I'm pretty angry myself and fear the same late patch appearence. I got the face to looking about 90% like "my Shepard" with the bioware-suggested fanmade workarounds, but I still can't decide whether to play or to wait.
Since there is no error code message when trying to import but a real text, I'm sure they knew what they were doing here. Maybe it's their way to make people try and play the multiplayer part.

I am guessing this has to do with the lack of facial scars? whenever the patch comes out does anyone know if it will apply whatever was missing or we have to re-import? cause if so then i should just stop playing now, since i already imported was a little confused but wanted to play and have thus been playing.

I highly doubt that any patch will affect characters already in the game, especially as we will ahve already modified their face.

Honestly I don't think it's worth putting off playing because with all the changes they've made, your shep still won't look the same. I mean heck, I used their workaround, got a code, and the things that were still there didn't look right. Hell, I even imported a face made in ME2 and that one didn't even look like it should have. Whatever they did, they screwed the pooch big time.

I agree this is something they SHOULD have picked up on during the development stages and bug fixing, lets just release the game and take peoples money and deal with the fallout later. I love bioware games. stories are amazing but this just take the freaking biscuit countless hours wasted as your shephard. I tried reinstalling ME 2 so see if I could get the facial code or see which part the sliders bars were at but clicking on the cusom appearance changes the way you look. Along with just about everyone else I am put off playing until this gets fixed.
This game was released on 6th in america, they have had 3 days to at least start a patching process for this.
would be really nice if they took to the forums and gave us a date for this fix. I dont want to wait a freaking week to start playing.

I restared my ME2 game last night, just to get the face code (coz when you import from 1-2, the face code gives you the generic custom look) and I tried in the ME3 demo....doesn't even look like my Shep!!

Unfortunately I'm sure that's true for some, but I know for me it's not something I'm considering as a "punishment" for Bioware. It's not a threat I'm making, I'm just stating the inevitable outcome of a continued lack of support. If Bioware really shrugs this off and refuses to deliver on the promise of carrying our Shepard into this game, then I see no reason to continue supporting them. The Dragon Age series has become an affront to the fans at this point already, if Mass Effect is going to follow suit then I'll continue to support developers who deserve it and who respect their fanbase, such as CDProjekt Red.SIRdavidTHEgr8 wrote...
Who are we….
If we look at the numbers I don’t think it looks good for us. Out of all the people who have played the ME series, we are the ones who chose to change our Shepard’s looks. Out of those we are the ones who use features not used in ME3. Out of those we are the ones THAT CARE if we watch Clint Eastwood play Han Solo with Harrison Ford’s voice. In that, there is not many of us in the big picture. This was not an oversight, this was a calculated business gamble. Once all the Launches are over we will get a statement of why the import doesn’t work for us.
Let’s face it, we are Gamers we won’t say we are not going to play EA/BioWare games and mean it. At best I can say I will not preorder, or only buy their games used. I love to game… always have and always will. Yes I am VERY DISAPPOINTED and I have not put ME3 back in my Xbox since I got the import warning, and I don’t want to play it without my Shep but… Who are we?
I Hope I’m Wrong
I do not think that “We” can punish BioWare. Our demographic is too small. They would not even notice if WE don’t buy the DLC. In some way I don’t feel like this was personal, it was just business, they had to make a call, they looked at the numbers, like how many people will this effect? Then they made the call. That call was to change the game in a way that affected “US” but allowed them to have the graphics and game play that would pull in new players and that critics would like (Profit). When they looked at stats on how many people changed to a custom face and what were the most popular mods, those of us not in that group got the short end of the stick. Doesn’t make it better, I am still Very Disappointed.
I feel that No Way this was an oversight, they tried to deliver on their promise, and they did for the majority, WE however are the minority here.

think as everyone has said thats because of the facial features they seem to have removed. Ive been trying to get around this since about 2pm today. Ive had to stop because its really getting on my nerves.

Staggering that this got past QA. They should all be fired for such an obvious bug.
It is impossible that this got past QA. So it was a design choice.

I think its just a ploy by BioWare, so we all use the "default" Shepards the marketing department use!

Can I get away with just giving Shepard some stubble in ME2, or is that not enough change to get it to import into ME3?
I tried that by changing the hair style on my ME1 Shep in ME2....look above your post....
I used the new facecode I got, and he doesn't look alike at all =(

So sadly I'm start to accept that this patch could be a long time coming and spent over 4 hours last night getting my code and adjusting everything I saw wrong with my Shepard. This is my personal result I figure I'll share with you guys.
ME 1 & 2

ME 3
http://i667.photobuc...urkitty/023.jpg
The only real key features I just simply couldn't get to be the same are his eye color and eyebrows... then there is the whole matter that it looks like he somehow used a miracle cream to drop 10 years of age off his face. I made my shepard to be around his mid 30's, he now looks like he's in his early/mid 20's.
But I have a feeling I'm going to have to accept this and make the best of it. Will give Bioware a little more time by finishing out Multiplayer to help with the perfect ending a bit, but my hope is basically gone.
*Sigh* Bioware I hope you drop EA sometime in 2012 and go with a publisher that actually cares about their playerbase, I really do, I don't want to have to give up on you.
-Skurkitty
Edit - I apologize for not being able to link the direct pictures onto the forums, for some reason whenever i use the code on the links it removes them completely >_>
