Nice idea. However, part of the info on the website is a bit off. The "It is quite clear that Bioware decided to ignore the loyal fanbase that started in Mass Effect 1, and chose only to concentrate on importing faces that were built using Mass Effect 2's character creator." to be exact.

My Shepard was created in Mass Effect 2's CC and the import still won't work in Mass Effect 3. So the problem isn't just localized to people who started in Mass Effect 1. It's affecting more than that.

Thats true even the ME2 Shepards look different

Since ME2 on PS3 was supposedly using the ME3 engine, does anyone know if PS3 users are able to upload their Shepards flawlessly?

I'd once again like to reiterate, when I went to load my ME2 save into ME3 using my original ME1 male Shepard, and went down to customize appearance after getting the face import error, the face looked drastically different, but in comparing the character code to character code I got by reimporting my ME1 Shepard into ME2 and customizing appearance, it was already all correct except for the tail end of the code. The hair, facial hair, hair color, facial hair color, and eye color needed to be changed, but the shape of the face, neck, aquiline nose, etc, were all correct. This may not be true for all Shepards, but it proved to be the case for mine. None of the convoluted methods listed needed to be used to get my ME2 character code (I have a 360). My code was almost identical except for the last seven or so, because the values either no longer existed (hair style or color, i forget which) or had moved. Try this method before you hit the roof: ME3 import, customize character, adjust hair / facial hair / eye color as needed. Everything else was my Shepard, I just didn't realize it at first glance.

Yes, some people were lucky. Others, not so much - we're struggling to get our Shepards looking like they're supposed to, even using the code.

I refuse to congratulate them on the game until this inexcusable error is corrceted. I shouldn't have to wait, the whole point of the ME series is the continuation of MY sheperd.

As far as I am concerned, the game deserves a low score in its current state. I'd be happy to re-evaluate the game when it's fixed and how it should be, but until then it might as well crash when I press start.

I'm well into the first 7 or 8 hours of playing the game and aside from the face import bug the experience is nothing short of awesome. Don't you think you're being a bit unfair to a game you haven't even started playing? The temporary solution is out there my friend.

I don't, a temporary solution IS out there for some people. The solution generates nothing close to my original Shepard. I'm thrilled that it works for some people, and I think everyone should at least try it.

But no, I don't really think I'm being unfair either. I can give a pass to things like the Conrad bug in ME2, but not something like this.

This is my first post  and everything I wanted to say has already been said. But I still felt the need to get on here and rage because I paid 70+ dollars for a game and DLC that I can't even play. After reading all the posts and messing around with CC in ME3 for about 4+ hours, I'm not sure that we are going to get the result we want even when a patch is released. The nose my Shep has doesn't exist, the eye color, the scar, hair, in ME3. So even when they get a patch for it to import and it's read into the ME3 engine and CC code, it's probably going to look like crap. So I'm on the fence wether I should still be holding out hope that they are going to send out a massive patch to import raw character data from ME1&2, or just say screw it and get it as close as I can and try to let the changes grow on me. Either way I am greatly dissappointed and appauled that this game was shipped with this big of an issue, but I really don't see a update of this size coming anytime soon. I'd say it will be months. :crying:

I am so angry!!

I've just bought ME3 for PC and now I found that I cannot have the beautiful face of my ADORED FemShep (which I played since ME1) correctly imported in ME3! I only bought ME3 *for her*!

But how could Bioware let slip such a huge bug??

I will not play this *useless* ME3 game until this bug is fixed.

I hope this will be solved soon or Bioware lost me as a customer for good.

So at last report . . . ME3 shipped over 800,000+ units on the first day. So after reading through this thread, its my understanding that this issue is NOT effecting everyone ( excluding those playing with the default profile )

??

From what I read it's not affecting people who used the default profile OR who didn't played the same Shepard since ME1. So, in fact, this bug is "punishing" all those loyal fan of the Mass Effect saga who customized their Shepard!

I also suffer from the dreaded face import bug. My custom ME1 face which I took far more time than I should have creating my "canon" Shepard was able to be imported directly into ME2 without issue. I used the frontal spike/shaved sides military haircut on him which transferred. Because of the face import I never got an ME2 face code.

Using some of the tools available to take a ME2 face imported from ME1 I was able to get the slider positions to roughly recreate my character from scratch in ME2 which would then give me a face code. One major problem... my haircut was not in the game. It is if you import your ME1 character but it's not a part of the default (selectable) styles of hair in ME2. They do have one that is the rough equivalent.

So I began my quest to recreate my Shepard using this process and got a pretty dead on recreation of my original ME1 Shepard minus the spiked haircut, which was tamed a little in ME2. Thinking I had a good viable solution I took my ME2 face code and put it into ME3. BOOM! Not so much.

Haircut is gone/missing, eyebrows were wrong, lips where wrong. Using the options available to me in ME3 and spending about an hour on this stuff I created what was the closest thing to my original ME1 and ME2 Shepard. The lack of the haircut is the biggest thing for me. It's a total visual change. Plus my facial features seem... off.

I anxiously await a possible fix myself but I'm doubtful one will be presented.

Here are my results of a few wasted hours of game playtime. Yes! It's that important to me too!

Anyone else get the feeling this is what happened? It would explain why Bioware hasn't been so forthcoming about this issue..

All the official community guys are probably crouched underneath a desk somewhere cowering in absolute terror. Disturbing Casey's golf game with a call, "You don't understand Casey. They're really pissed off! I'm scared. They might eat me! Haaaalp!"

I'm Commander Shepard. Now get your mkin fingers off my mkin face!
