i am not playing the game until my Shepard!!!!!!

I agree completely with you.

I coughed up nearly 55 € to have my beloved Jasmine back!!!

There are no words to say how pissed I am now...especially after having to install that blasted Steam-clone of Origin just to install Mass Effect 3 (and I already hate Steam)!

The only hope Bioware stands for forgiveness is to cook up a patch as soon as possible AND have me meet my Jasmine in real-world!!! ( :innocent:  :D )

So at last report . . . ME3 shipped over 800,000+ units on the first day. So after reading through this thread, its my understanding that this issue is NOT effecting everyone ( excluding those playing with the default profile )

??

Sometimes, on some saves, you will not get the message of being able to grab your face code, yet it will have replaced what you got with one of the cycled presets. So, there are probably some out there that touched up a preset in ME1 or ME2 and can go "well, it looks like mine, just need to muck around with hair to get it right."

I'd say anyone who wasn't a default player is effected. Of course, you hear plenty of folk going around always saying sarcastically "that isn't Shepard why would you change it from the default?!" and that dreck.

They aren't going to report a fix until the fix is complete, which means when it is ready to patch. What game companies give pre-patch ETAs and information until the release notes are compiled and put out there? I'd also not be shocked that the process worked pre-launch. I get that people are upset, because I am too, but does anyone here think that a gaming company would actively try to sell broken critical features to people?  I hear a lot of demonizing of Bioware and EA...and while chasing the money is whatever, chasing the money only compounds future profitability of your company and your brand recognition. Do you think a developer wants to be watch the whole thing fall on their head? They want their game to be loved, want it to be cherished, want people to speak good things so it spreads. That's the cache in the industry. Hell, all the people crapping on COD, Infinity Ward and Treyarch built up a lot of good will with what they did with that franchise to get it where it is. Might not be that way today, but was.

People are upset, but no game company is going to give an hour to hour breakdown of what is going on within their coding process, or if they're having a breakthrough, or whatever. The message will be about working on it, no ETA, and then they will annouce the patch and the patch notes. Push for a timely patch, within a week or two because of cert, but expecting a patch to fix it while we are still in the launch window...nobody does that.

I wrote out a fix that really helped me out if you can live with a new hairstyle and iris color. I did this for Male Shepard, so i dont know how well this works with Femshep.

Please don't go to hard on me, lol. This is my best attempt to help the people who were screwed with the import situation like me :)

I am so very pissed at BW. Even if they do fix this issue, I am never going to buy another BW title again. At least not new. Shame on you BW for not only shipping this game with this BS glitch but for your silence on the issue... guess what?! we are aware that you are aware... thats not good enough!! please just let us know what the heck you are doing!

That website linked in the OP does nothing for me. The facecode generated looks nothing like my Sheppard. Not even the same face structure.

Guess I'll just have to wait weeks for Bioware to finally get around to patching it.

Man, what happened to this company? They used to be so awesome. :(

I want my Shepard back. Sometimes she looks almost ok, the next instant its just an ugly face :(

The patch will need some time - but then give us the possibility to change the facecode anytime in the game so we all dont have to start over again :(

You really did a good work with this conversion, but...well...it's not the same...and it should!
Bioware OWES us a same-good-looking (or even better-good-looking, since graphics are improved) Shepard!!!

As for me, while I feel an almost physical pain for having bought this game and not being able to play it, I will not let Bioware RAPE my Femshep's beloved face ( I LOVE YOU JASMINE!!! <3:wub: ) with their blasted buggy import!

I want a patch or I want my 55 € back!

I will never know what happened to Earth, but at least I'll keep a good memory of my beloved Jasmine Shepard!

if i had got this game pirated , then i'm not in the right to blame bioware .
i bought the digital deluxe edition for pc which costs more than the us version ,since my market is set to europe, i had pre-ordered it still was left out when bf3 was given to only north american / canadian customers, and now the game doesn't really allow me to import my saved files , the time and the patience taken to make all those decisions and play the game.
I'm sorry but right now i'm given the support pirated games a very good thought.

NO

What will be the point of pirating it? Nobody has forced you to buy the game full price, yet you think you have the right to have it even if you dislike/don't agree with what they have done as long as it cost you nothing?
How convenient.

Regardless of the game having a bug in what most of us consider a crucial feature, the people at Bioware worked their arses off, as a programmer myself, I have no doubt about this.

They are human just like the rest of us, and like the rest of us they need to work to feed themselves and their families. If everyone started pirating games because there is something they don't like, all studios will end up closing one after the other, there would me no more videogames for any of us and, in a worst case scenario, these people could end up homeless and starving on the streets. All that just because you think you are entitled to their work.

Sorry, but slavery was abolished long ago.

Thank you...I knew that and I see that other people have tried this way, but I'd feel really depressed if it didn't work and if I wasn't able to recreate my Jasmine like she was I'd feel as if I did something horrible to her...

However...just a question:

Am I wrong or this kind of bug happened also when ME2 was launched?

Honestly I've a sense of dejavu on this...

I totally love how Mr. Priestly managed to sneak on and update the OP.....with a link to some instructions.

I realize the dude isn't all knowing, and may not have new info. But damn, the disappointment mounted when I saw the OP was edited...and all that was there was a new link.

The problem is that it's happening more and more often that games are released with bugs of this magnitude.

And this could have only one explaination:

Developer don't care about giving you a crappy beta instead of a finished product, because, after you dished out your hard-earned cash for it, they're not suffering any consequence for this.

While sounds hilarious even to myself the idea of starting a class action against a software house for a buggy product...well...probably this is the only way to stop developers to release games with dragons flying backwards, multi-game-spanning sagas with faces that don't import...and so on...

...if they think they'll pay and pay in cash for it, they'll start taking Quality Assurance more seriously!

The work around works if you're lucky.  I was able to get the majority of my character back via the work around, but hairstyle, brow color, lip color, iris color, and other things were all missing because they were no longer in the game.  I also imported a custom ME2 char, which should have had no issues, and even it looked like crap.

Which means it doesn't work, right ?  I thought a workaround is a success if it works for 100% of people? Otherwise if it's 50/50 I don't see how you can claim it works.  Plus, whether it works is for the most part subjective.  I've seen other people's Shepards. They may be fine with them, but to me they still look nothing alike, which I'm sad to think is due in part to just the overhaul in graphics, modeling, and animation.

Good point(s) and I agree I don't think that BioWare would purposely teabag us (the fans), but I would like to of known prior to me waiting at a midnight launch, getting home with game in hand just to find out that I'm going to have to take back Earth with some other dude - Now if BioWare maybe wanted that to be a twist in the game and have our original Shepherd die off in Mass 2 and at the start of Mass 3 we create a new character I would be ok with that because it was in the story arc, but the fact is I'm finishing the fight and I'm doing it with someone else, not my Shepherd = Fail

What we were expecting is to not have this kind of bug, man...

If Bioware and Electronic Arts knew they could get trampled by a class action, well...you'd see how fast they'd be in releasing a fix for that...

...the problem is that, obviously, they are not getting a hard hit in their wallet, so they, just like other Developers, take more and more a sloppy-work approach toward their customers.

Got ME3 today, sat down a few hours ago and imported my ME1/ME2 Shepard on Xbox to discover he looks totally different, just like everyone else it seems. I also tried importing my ME2 fem shep (which I only started on ME2 and has no ME1 code) and even she doesn't import properly.

Christ this is annoying. It's just beyond belief that such a fundamental element to the game could have been overlooked. I tried recreating his face but discovered that his hairstyle doesn't even seem to be available anymore!

I just can't play until this is fixed.

No it doesn't. It just means he came upon information where people could look for instructions on how to use the Mass Effect Tools. Besides, mods can be so useless on forums.  There's no way of knowing if this guy is even checking up on the status. It's likely not the case because if he cared enough he'd be telling us in the forums each day something at least saying. "Sorry guys still no word on an ETA"

At least, that's my opinion.
