Thanks, I won't play till this is fixed. Plus I heard some people see their old Shepard with the "Shepard VI's", but they couldn't import that Shepard into the actually game, weird, lol.

I had a thought on this, actually, which, if I'm correct, could be useful to the programmers...

In the character creation screen, there are three main options, right? Imported Face, Default Face, and Custom Face? If a face is successfully imported, what is displayed for the Custom Face option? Is it the default custom, or the imported one? If it's the latter, I suspect THAT is why this problem is occuring for player characters, but not that VI - when a character is imported, the game wants to give you the option to make changes, further customize the character you imported. However, if your character's face contains options that are no longer available through the character creator, there's nowhere for it to set the sliders for the Custom Face option, and as such, it doesn't load it at all.

If I am correct about this, the solution I would propose is to give players the option of forgoing being able to modify their character. If it can't load the character's face settings into the editor, have it display a warning, but then give the player a choice - either load a different file it can find the settings for, or continue, knowing that you will not be able to modify your imported face - your imported face would appear under Imported Face, and the Custom Face option would just have the default custom face, which you could modify as normal.

If the face can, in fact, appear in-game, as the presence of that VI suggests, there is no reason for this not to be able to work. Granted, it might not be perfect, and I have no idea how much work it would take to implement... but, if I'm right, it SHOULD be possible.

...hopefully you guys already thought of this, though! (But, if you didn't... I am willing to consider relocating as a requisite for job offers. XD)

That is exactly what they did for ME1 > ME2 import.  Which is why it totally boggles the mind they couldn't be bothered to do it in ME3... and the impression I get at the moment is they are simply going to get rid of the import error and just have the game match things as best it can to the current options...

which is pointless.

If they fix this in the next day I will give them much prays for the quick responds to their costumers dissatisfaction to this problem that should of been visible before shipping to the public. but I think they have know of this problem but chose to release. and dam the costumer base we have really bad move bioware you have diminished my confidence in your quality control.

Let me just tell you about this thread I visited regularly during the last week, discussing this exact problem. This was well known, but nobody bothered to respond until after release.

My first playthrough was with a Sheploo so I'll use him for my first ME3 run, too. Hopefully by the time I've finished this issue will be sorted and I'll be able to import my custom Sheps without a problem. I'm glad that Bioware are working on it at least.

I used the tools to get a face code, but it's still WAY off.

I can't play the game like this.

I totally agree with what everyone is saying on here. I blocked out my entire day after getting out of work to play this game. I also purchased the Collector's Edition for PC. Paying 80 dollars for a game that makes me create a new character that should be carried over from the previous ones is absolutely shameful. That would be like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back being played by Richard Gere instead of Harrsion Ford. Not what you're expecting, and totally ruins the experience

Actually what I find most amazing is when you look back at Me1 to ME2 comparisons the transition is just done so completely right. ME2 characters look exactly like a more advanced but still identically-proportioned version of their ME1 counterparts.

Every ME3 imported face I have seen on these forums looks wrong in at least a couple of respects - it's like the person who actually built the ME3 face creator themselves had to start from scratch and remake each possible face option, with only partial success.

This should have been checkbox number one on the ME3 game creation checklist. Item 1 - "can players import their personal Commander Shepard faces?" Y/N.

I think 90% of people on these forums would gladly trade in the entire multiplayer aspect of the game in exchange for a working ME1 face import function.

^This.  I'd trade multiplayer a million times over to get my Shep back - the personal continuity is the reason I've been so excited about ME3, and now to know that my best option is a bastardization of what once was is disappointing.  I ordered the CE because I love the franchise and to support BW, but if Day One leaves such a sour taste in my mouth, what do the rest of them hold?

Ran into the problem too. I wont be playing the game until this gets fixed. Its not mass effect to me without my custom characters.

exactly  the same here; its like another actor playing shepard... and it doesn't feel like the character from the previous two games.. really really spoils the experience.

its absolutly 100% impossible Bioware didnt know this would be an issue.... its too big a thing to be missed by testers and the fact they got imports "spot on" between ME1 and ME2 compounds the whole situation.

Even after the demo, after the denials, after the confirmation, I still wasn't ready for how bad my Shep looked.

How the heck did this happen? HEY! At least Kinect works, right? YAY!

Wow, I'll be having nightmares now about going to the cinema to watch "LotR: Return of the King" for the first time and to realize that they recast Aragorn and he's now being played by Nicolas Cage.

Judging by the tweet I posted earlier, it seems they're already working on a patch for it.

Would be nice if they outright told us that here.

would be nice if they could confirm what the fix will do..

whether its ME1 > ME2 import method (Great!)

or simply a fix to remove the error people get and then have the creator "try" to match the previous shepard with the current available options...  (Absolutly no point!)

To be honest it isn't a surprise.

Many companies now seem to forgo their own sites for the social networks of Twitter or Facebook. Microsoft are especially bad, you never see a staff member post on their forum, at least we do occasionally see Bioware staff around here.

LPPrince: Did the tweet have a time frame as to when it could be released??

Or does anyone on here have a time frame?

As long as I get my ME1 Shepard from 07 into ME3, I'm good.

This patch better be up ASAP though.
