 Why oh why

I just got a call from my retailer. I ordered my CE months ago, but they never came. EA messed up and forgot to ship a whole bunch of them here. He also called his colleagues, all of them had the same issues. The suppliers barely got any copies. Too little for the consoles and close to ZERO for the PC (which is what I ordered).
Stores are now calling their customers, sites have been forced to cancel almost all of their pre-orders, some websites have even removed the ME3 CE as a whole.
I am angry and sad. How do you mess up such a big game release like this?

Like what do I do? I REALLY want the Collector's Edition, but it seems it's pretty much impossible now. All the copies that did ship are sold out instantly, since they're all the pre-orders to begin with.

I'd recommend starting to email your retailer to see if your copy actually arrived. I really hope you guys are luckier than me.

Not just late, not at all. For example on the website of the Media Markt the Collector's Edition's status is 'cancelled'. Not even delayed, but cancelled.

I sent an e-mail to bol.com earlier today but I haven't received any sort of response yet. I duobt anything is forthcoming today so I have my hopes set for tomorrow. They'd better have gotten it, I pre-ordered the CE months ago!

@Hirdas: Thursday is the official release date for ME3 in the Netherlands, so that's not too late. (not considering the fact that staggered release dates are completely obsolete in this day and age, but I don't see that changing anytime soon)

Free Record Shop still lists all 3 versions of the CE on their website, maybe give your local store a call tomorrow to ask if they still have it?

I pre ordered mine there, went the the store today, they didn't have them yet.(Although they did have the normal editions)
He said he might get them later but I doubt it.

Thanks for this, hadn't checked them yet. I'll call them tommorrow. There isn't one anywhere close to where I live, but I really don't care any more.

I used to work at the Free Record Shop and while it is possible that they get another shipment later, I doubt it. Usually all versions of a new game would arrive at the same day, which would make sense since they'd be distributed at the same time as well.

Maybe you'll have some luck online at their webshop, but if the store hasn't got any, I wouldn't expect any last-minute delivery there.

Anyone having trouble with GameMania? I ordered at GM in Antwerp and while this isn't in the Netherlands, it's a Dutch chain. I went in there today to try and get them to break the street date, but I was out of luck. They didn't mention anything about missing CE's, but it's possible they just hadn't arrived yet.

@the satirist: Well, some people may not have access to a credit card and are only able to pay online through iDeal (which is only available in the Netherlands as far as I know) or Paypal (which is not necessarily accepted everywhere). Also, it would add more time to the delivery (since it needs to be shipped from another country) as well as make the whole thing more expensive (since it needs to be shipped from another country).

Of course getting it in another country is an option, but if I'm getting a hard copy of a game, then I'd prefer to use a Dutch service rather than a foreign one.

-The CE is in short supply in Europe as it is. Its been sold out alot of places. Finding a place where they have hundreds or even thousands of CEs instock is abit... optimistic... at this date.

Im Danish and I believe the CE has been sold out here for at least a few months.

It can't come as a surprise to you that Europe is not quite as important as the US is.

'Sold out' and 'We don't have our pre-orders available due to a shipping error' are two entirely different things, however.
