Not 100% but from what I've heard it resets the character back to lv 1 and adds them (the level 20 version) as a war asset for campaign.

Which is great in my book as it to easy to get to level 20 and give you a reason to go back to bronze.

i just promoted a soldier. I got 10 N7 levels (multiplayer levels) and my soldiers were back at level one. All customization intact.

I got 75 points, an email from Hackett explaining the group, and a nice little tab in the war asset section.

I want to know though, do the benefits of promotion carry over? And is there a limit.

Um, so... How can I even play Gold, if my character is automatically reseted once he reaches the level, necessary for this difficulty? Or should I start playing Gold on level 15, where I'd remain too weak?

You have to chose to promote your character, it doesnt force you too do it just because you hit level 20.
Once you hit level 20 you have the OPTION of promiting.

Can we promote a class more than once and if so does it give any advantage?

Not really fan of this... I would like to try all the classes at 20, not to restart everything :(
My objective it is trying to get to win a Gold match and unlock the asari Adept

You never have to export a char to the SP campaign, you can keep them at 20 for however long you want

promotion = level 1, + 10 N7 and like a few war assets for single player.

Is there any other way to redistribute points other than promotion?

There's a rare card that lets you reset powers.

You can get random rare reset cards from spectre/veteran packs.

I see. If they're really so rare I imagine it's more effective to just promote.
