I'm writing this post to hopefully so that someone higher up in bioware will read this and maybe the community will help.
I have played Mass Effect 3 for six hours and I'm completely lost as to how things went from Mass Effect 2: Arrivial to Mass Effect 3. There is a lot of story missing. I can't get a feel as to how to relate to where my previous crew literally disappeared to. I mean my male character had a very close relationship to Garris enough that I would have considered him my character's best freind but when the game starts I had no idea what happened to him. I didn't even know what happened to my two favorite engineers Gabby and Ken. What happened to my romance interest Miranda, Giving the threat of imminant Reaper invasion I would have kept Legion around becuase I'm going to need the Geth's help. And were is Grunt, Jacob, Thane, and Tali?
I understand that I was placed under arrest for what happened in Arrivial but I would like to have see that arrest take place. I need context for where Shepards is in the scheme of things.
After playing some of the answers are starting to become clear but it's shouldn't unfold that way. That's not how life works and that not the way I would expereince it if I was really there.
Anyone else feel this way?

Man. You really need to bump your own posts.
A good thread like this got burried.
Yeah what you're proposing seems like a nice idea. Filling the gaps is normally where fan fiction comes in. I'm sure someone has written something along those lines.

It'd definitely be nice to see, but I guess that's what graphic novels or whatever are for. It'd basically just be dialogue if it were made DLC.

Unfortunately, people who care about the characters and the story seem to be a secondary market for this franchise now. Sucks to be us.

I'm not sure whether a prologue DLC would really work as there would be no aspect of choice, you would just be moving from A to B and your Shepard's personality would be pretty irrelevant.
I get that they had to make the game accessible to new players but I agree that there was no real follow on from Mass Effect 2 - not just from the end, there is a fair amount of stuff that just gets culled.

It would actually give us some background to James, which would be good, seeing as at the beginning, the game automatically assumes you know who James is.

Great idea but the ending getting fixed comes first and I would defenitly pay for a prologue because you are right the beginning just doesn't jive from me2 to me3 it needs alittle backstory

I'd like to see a prologue DLC but I'd rather it was a some kind of Batarian reprisal plot and the war crimes trial for the deaths of the Batarian system. You could have some Batarian Zealots frothing and a Council Representative doing his best to distance the Council from Shepard. It could also take in your spectre status (my Renegade told them to shove it in the second) and then dependent on your performance at the trial you get some kind of War Asset bonus if people listen to you. Alternatively to make it a larger impact it could set your Galactic Readiness to 65% or 75% rather than the default 50% as people prepare for the worst.
