I am playing as a male rogue. I am trying to unlock the shapeshifter so Wynne can learn it for the stat bonuses, but Morrigan refuses to teach it even though she is in love with me.  Is this because I am not a mage?  If so, is there another way to unlock the shapeshifter if you are not a mage, such as a manual?

Bizarre. She taught it to me when I was a warrior, and she barely even like me. Maybe it is because she's in love with you.



Anyway, you might find a book for shapeshifter. But I never saw one.

I think this goes with Morrigan's character...or it's a bug.



ie...she taught my Dwarf Noble upong going to camp right after leaving Flemmeth's hut for the FIRST TIME...after some dialogue to up her approval.



every other character that has a high (90+ to love) she refuses.



so either she's fickle about it because she doesn't deal with love so good..which kinda fits her character..or it's an odd bug...I mean why would she divulge her secret when she only likes you a little..and not when she loves you?



well unless she doesn't want to teach you when she loves you because she knows shapeshifters suck..so she's sparing you from it?

Yeah I find it weird too. My first runthrough she wouldn't teach it to me since I asked when she was too low in approval rating and then again when it was too high. Seems to me she agrees around 25+ pretty easily.

No great loss though, it's a lousy spec anyway.

the book is on the elf vendor in the forest iirc

Seems like it's only possible to learn very early in the game - like somewhere around Lothering. Unless you aren't getting on her good side - then later should be possible as well.

You can learn it while you're in Lothering, just talk to Morrigan and she will teach you. However, when you talk with her again, she will refuse you to teach even if she already had.



Trigger dialog is something like "I'll teach you some when we get back to camp", if you heard that phrase, you've unlocked it.

Clearly, as she grows more attached to you, she refuses to let you make the horrible mistake that speccing shapeshifter is...

so she did refuse to me too, but i'm not in love with her...



i will try another run to kill flemeth ... hope to get it that way

It's definitely bugged.

Even though Morrigan's status shows as "Love" for my character, the shapeshifter dialog had her saying "I do not know you well enough to teach you."

If I use the console command cheats to drop her back down into the 10-20 range, she'll teach me without question.
