So, yeah... how long has this been going on? I recently reinstalled DA:O Ultimate Edition and, after searching the 'net, found out how to authorize my DLC. However, my profile hasn't been updating (except for Achievements, oddly), and I obviously can't delete some of my older characters. I thought it was a problem on my end until I tried checking my profile today and I saw that notification splayed across the top of the screen. So, is it a server issue after all?

I know this is a bad day to ask, what with everyone's attention on Mass Effect, but if someone could answer, I'd really appreciate it :P.

This happened to me, even if I didn't use the console! Never found a solution for this lol

Yep, I tried with and without the console active and it wasn't updating, so I'm going to wait until that notice disappears. Hopefully it disappears...

Y'know what? I bet it's the servers being retasked to deal with the Mass Effect 3 surge. In that case, I'm fine with it!

I don't have any specifics, nor any insider knowledge, but I suspect this is correct.  They took the forums down this weekend to prep for ME3.

This is the message i get for my online profile:

Dragon Age: Origins player profile updating & management is currently unavailable.

I am on PC and no new character or screenshots are updating only achievements.
I suspect servers are overloaded which is a bit lame in this day and age.

Is this preventing new purchasers of DAO Ultimate Edition from downloading the DLC? The ingame tabs says Unauthorized. I purchased the DVD version was told by Support to download the Origin client which I did and redeemed the code but still getting Unauthorized.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

You will have to ask the official support. There's no way for your fellow game players to know such things, but your question does seem far removed from the primary complaints of the rest of the comments. It seems to me you probably overlooked the help available to you and grabbed this (wrong) thread to ask this in.

You should consider that an Avatar is strictly a SITE function. It has nothing to do at all with playing this game. You are adding your comment to a thread in a GAME tech discussion forum, not a SITE Help forum.

It's not a GAME problem, therefore, it is OFF-TOPIC in here.

Umm no. :?

It is not as simple as that. If people can't authorize their DLC because of EA's shoddy server/authorize mechanism in DA:O, they have every right to post in here. Just like everyone else having an authorize problem in the bazillion other threads here. The player profiles might be mainly a feature of this site, but it affects the game, when you are unable to (re)-authorize DLC's after (re) installing the game and hence are unable to use what you have paid for. Easy as.

Nope, you aren't.

My profile last updated 2012-03-04 07:05:02

My game still works and all DLC is fine as far as I can tell; just my character updates won't update to the server.

I don't think this is affecting DLC or authorization though. I think this is just a player profile server... one that EA decided to quietly take down to save a buck. If thats what they did, I have to admit I'm going to kinda miss it. It was nice to quickly view the statistics for all my characters across all my playthroughs.

Anyway, if you need to authorize DLC because you just purchased DA:O Ultimate or something recently, try this number: EA's warranty department at 650.628.1001. Call them directly. Bothering with the online chat or email will likely yield no results or direct you to the warranty department anyway. I had to call them to authorize since the server wasn't allowing it (this was December of 2011).

Another thing to try is download the 1.05 patch and apply it. I've *heard* that bypasses the need to authorize DLC. I can't verify this myself though (running 1.04).

Hope this server will be back online... it was a fun lil bit that adds to the whole DA:O experience.

I don't know if they did take it down, though, because as someone else noted, achievements are still being updated.  It's just the individual characters that are stuck in limbo.

Out of curiosity, did these problems start happening with the 1.05 patch?

Quoted from the CORRECT forum to complain about it in:

It took a little longer than expected but Dragon Age: Origins player profile updating and management is now back online.

And had all of the caterwauling been concentrated in the correct place, it might just have happened faster!

And yet you continue to waste time and energy attempting to herd aforementioned cats. Leave the moderating to the mods.

There's been no Moderator active here on any kind of regular basis for at least six months.  The last such was Raen Imrahl, who has other things he is involved with now.  Any member observing a gross breach of the Terms of Service is ethically obliged to make a report, but not one such report I've turned in for about a year has been acted upon if it was sent through EA, via the "Report" button, so I assume that someone decided to disable that option without removing it.
