So is this possible. I'm semi sad I just got her back and she's laid up in the hospital already. Anyone know if I could prevented this (like stop the robot somehow) or is it just part of the story that has to happen

Yeah, I had this happen with Kaidan - it is a bit of a bummer but there's still plenty to do when the VS returns.

The hospital sells flowers, candy and some books. I think you can give them to her when you see her a second time if she is a LI. But I've not played that LI save yet.
