With ME1 and ME2, it was easy to save the DLC files, because you had to download them separately, and could just burn them on a DVD.   That way you could install put the DLCs back on reinstall without having to spend all that time redownloading everything (some of those DLC packs are huge and take forever to download).

It's not really clear how to do that on Origin.   Even on Steam, they've got an option to let you generate a backup installer so you can save the files offline.   They still have to be authenticated by your account, but at least you don't have to redownload all those gigabytes of DLC packs.    Is there any way to do that on Origin?   Based on the "Ashes" DLC, which already weighs in at a bit over 500GB, ME3's future DLC's are going to be even bulkier than the ME2 ones, so if that can't be done, does EA have it on their to-do list?

There is a way, but can be very messy - Copy the folder "\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\DLC" as a backup and when you finish reinstall the game copy the folder back into the fresh install. This method is mostly trial and error, but so far (fingers crossed) it works. The same can be done to game updates stored at "Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\Patches" and if you have the N7 edition the sound tracks can be found at "\\Mass Effect 3\\Bonus"

Thanks. Messy or not, it's got to be better than downloading all the DLCs over again each time I install the game.
