So, umm... Whenever I choose to go to Docks: Holding Area on the Citadel, the loading screen goes black and the game freezes. This has happened to me 3 times in a row now. Anyone with the same issues?

UPDATE: seems to fix its self if you don't go straight there from the embassy.

Yeah, I went to a few different areas first which seems to 'fix' it. Or it might be luck. I still think there's something wrong with that load screen on the Citadel. The scene changes two or three times during the loading process and there seems to be a split second between these transitions where the screen goes black. It appears to me that the freeze happens during that split second...
Well, at least it doesn't appear to be corrupting save data as was the case with ME2

I've just encountered the same problem twice. I was in the Presidium Commons zone and I was trying to travel to the Docks Holding Area zone. I only had one loading screen before the title froze on black. I had been doing tons of side-quests around the Presidium zone before I attempted to travel. My last two actions were talking to the Eclipse leader at the C-Sec office and then talking (a 2nd time) to the Turian General.
EDIT: After first travelling to another zone (Normandy Docks), I was able to successfully travel to the Docks: Holding Area zone

Dont wanna sound like a douche but i really figured i was the only one with this problem. The only thing im concerned about is the hard reset i have to put my ps3 through. I know that can cause damage to the console depending if its saving or loading and can corrupt the hard drive. I hope a fix is on the way stat

Yeah it's still doing it on and off for me.
One thing I find that works is I just take the option to have them transport me straight there when arriving at the citadel. Take care of any business there, then move on to the rest of the citadel.

This happens not only in the Citadel. It seems common to freeze just about anywhere in the game as it accesses the harddrive in anyway. Either AutoSaving or Loading. My friends have crashed numerous times while entering or exiting the Multiplayer menus. I myself have crashed a few times as I walk around the Normandy. These issues need to be addressed by biowar and addressed quickly.

its not just the citadel that it happens at, I was on the Turian moon and I was running than it froze. Decided to just go to MP since my friends were on it.

I read on another forum that if you hit the PS button as soon as the loading screen appears and keep the XMB up until the black screen appears then exiting the XMB should make the docks: holding area load.
It did the trick for me atleast

Yup got the same problem. Gonna stop playing it till there is a fix I refuse to end up messing up my ps3 by doing all these hard resets.

I've had the game freeze on me only during the Citadel loading screen so far. Freezing was a huge issue with ME2 and it never really got 100% fixed. Once patches started coming out they actually seemed to break the game more than fix it for a lot of people. I really hope BioWare gets it right this time.

Yup. Same here. Freezes every time I try to go to Docks: Holding Area.

It crashed during autosaving when I load up the galaxy map. Its a miracle that nothing has been corrupted on my HD so far...

Game froze during an MP game. Seems like it's freezing pretty much randomly.

The freezing has happened to me when I try to move to the Holding Area from anywhere.

I didn't notice this was the same problem I'm having with the title "freeze". I didn't consider it a freeze just because I can hear stuff in the background but my character is stuck with a black screen. Happened to me 3 times in a row.
Hope they fix this fast. Real fast!

Thank you. I went back to the Normandy and transported straight to the Docking Area and it worked. I really don't want to stop playing this game so this was a life saver!
You're the best ToastPants!

Taking the elevator to the Docks freezes every time for me. I'll try the direct route off the Normandy. A patch would be nice.

I've frozen once, trying to go from I think the Embassies to the Refugee Docks. Got the black screen. Otherwise doing good on freezes (only freeze I had on ME2 was on my old PS3...when the disc drive died while trying to load something in Afterlife...ME2 didn't specifically kill it...just happened to be the game in the drive when it died...). My sister has had many more issues than me (on the box), so I'm okay with this (for now) as long as it doesn't become a regular thing, but I might just start making that dock my first stop when I head to the Citadel, just in case (I'm 19 hours into the game). Hopefully a patch will fix it so I don't have to worry about it becoming a problem.

I am also having the issue with the game dropping to black screen / PS3 locking up when taking the elevator to the Refugee Area. I used to have luck taking the elevator from the Normandy hangar, but now, it seems I cannot access the Refugee Bay from anywhere. I'll going directly from the Normandy. A patch to fix this would be awesome, as it is making quests that have to access the Refugee Bay a MAJOR pain.
