Okay, may I know why ME3 is getting bad reviews? (no spoilers)

I'm keeping my ME3 demo installed even after I get the full game. I couldn't bear to lose the hilarity that is the over the top and immensely funny Anderson sprinting animation
It's the same in the full game.
I heard they tweaked it a bit so it's not as amusing any more.

I actually thought metacritics got DA2 right... it was more of an "adventure" game than a RPG to me. Phew, still has bad memories from it (and I have never completed the game, just played through 30% of it and couldn't be bothered to finish it, waste of $$).
I also doubt the part on homosexual content affecting the scores, because bioware has always been big on that area, a good thing imo. Uhh. Didn't like DA Anders, though.
Edit: I do agree the graphics is lacking though.
Big on that area? Outside of DA 2 and ME3, what other games had homosexual romancing?
Lesbianism doesn't count. I'm taking guy on guy. Most people (i.e dudes) will give a game a better score if they see two hot girls go at it.

Then there's the autodialogue, the sidelining of alot of ME2 characters and plot threads, general lack of choic and interactivity.
Jacob, Thane and to a lesser extent Liara fans get particularly screwed, and if you like Tali and Garrus at all for the love of gods do not recruit them.
It's still a great game, just a weak Mass Effect instalment, and an incredibly cheap and nasty finale for all the characters we actually care about and have any emotinal investment in. Bioware are apparently delighted with it though, and don't seem to care that the vast majority of humans like happy satisfying endings to stories.

@ Repearized Miranda. The game isn't perfect but if the reviewers are honest then why are some of them giving it a 10/10?
That's the other end of the spectrum, but the same problem!
A review is nothing more than an "advertisment" in "dissertation" form! I'm sure all of us know how advertising works, therefore, what its task is! A game review that gets a 10/10, 100/100, is that same thing.
This has nothing to do with positive reviews being just as right as negative or just as wrong; however, how often do we "judge a book by its cover" as they say? It's very rare that we don't!
I'm saying that while overly negative reviews may more than likely turn you away while overly positive reviews will draw you in, it's not uncommon for the thing that was advertised positively to get a bad reaction because you put too much stake in the "critically acclaimed" review. No wonder you turned out disappointed afterward.
Likewise, if you see/hear/read a bunch of negative reviews (these are "advertisments", too), but are shocked at how way off based they were, that is if you don't put too much stake into them.
The issue with most "user reviews" as opposed to "professional ones" is that - despite opinions being subjective, the professional reviews have some objectivity to them. (Did I just use a "profane" word? *gasps*)
I can like something and be mindful of its flaws, just as much as not liking something despite its charms!
Upon reading, one may agree or disagree, but at least you're aware of both sides of the coin.
That YT vid: "5 Reasons ME3 will be Awesome/5 Reasons ME 3 will Suck" is an example of objectivity. Whatever side the guy himself was leaning towards makes no difference. Would it have help if he gave his thoughts, yes; however, I hear it too many times when someone reads a review - especially a negative one.
The reviewer is clearly biased which isn't wrong because everyone is about everything, but that vs. "Can't see the forest for the trees," are two totally different things.

10/10 is a ridiculous review. I've never played a 10/10 game. 9/10 yes. 10/10 no.
Only 19 games have ever received a 10/10. They are as follows:
Bioshock
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Gears of War
Fallout 3
Fight Night Round 3
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Mass Effect
Batman: Arkham City
Gears of War 3
Portal 2
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Grand Theft Auto IV
Halo: Reach
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
and Mass Effect 3 as of yesterday.
All from Official Xbox Magazine.

Well, I learned from working in sales and the gun business that it doesn't pay for publications to bite the advertising hand that feeds them.

That and I can't really trust the word of the "official" Xbox magazine. It's owned by Microsoft, of course they want the hype train rolling for those games.

I believe Killzone 2 and MGS4 got perfect ratings on IGN upon release.

But that's the point. The industry is a joke and won't be considered trustworthy until it separates itself and becomes more than an extension of a publishers PR department.
We wouldn't trust the media if it was a propaganda arm of the Government. It's the separation that allows us to trust them to deliver critical information. (in theory, feel free to insert any jokes you feel appropriate).

How many of those games actually deserve a 10/10?
If you are suggesting that Batman: Arkham City did not deserve a 10, you either did not play the game or you spend a majority of your free time getting kicked in the skull by horses.

I disagree with a few of those but that list is still damn good company to be in.

Don't diss my hobbies. I give getting Kicked By a Horse a 10/10. The story is deep and meaningful, and the gameplay is topnotch.
Actually I was just curious about the list itself. I honestly haven't played a lot of the games on there.
