I just picked up ME3 but I just started playing ME2 last week. I'm about 50 hours into it and still have much to do, I play very slow. My question is what is really important for transferring over to ME3. Do I need to scan every planet for side missions, play any of the dlc's, buy all weapons and armor? I just want to speed it up a bit and maybe skip the stuff I don't need to do until later.

I would finish ME2 as it's a great game. Some side quests are mentioned in ME3 I think (I'm not that far into the game so far) but don't play a crucial role in how the game plays out.

I would take my time and then import a fairly complete ME2 playthrough. I had a 100% ME2 playthrough imported and I'm glad I did. It makes the experience more personal in my opinion.

If you don't want to do that, then just stick to the critical path and make sure the recruitment and loyalty missions are done, head to the suicide mission, and then play the DLC. In fact, the DLC is probably more important to go through than any of the side missions in ME2.

Oh, and I bought every set of armor and got every weapon in ME2 but I didn't start out with any of it in ME3 even though I imported a save. I have to buy it or find it all over again. So that's not nearly as important as the rest of the content.

Yeah take your time, you got the rest of your life to play ME3, enjoy everything ME2 has to offer first. What's the rush if its all new to you?

I'm gonna take it slow. I tried lastnight to go a little faster but I just couldn't, the game is way to good to rush. It's just that I take forever. 55 hours now and I still have so much to do but I'm just gonna enjoy it. I've never rushed a game before so why start now. Thanks guys. Question about arrival. So I hear it starts by going to the terminal. Do I wait until I'm totally done the game or right before I do the last mission? If I wait until the end how does that work. Does the game role credits and end after the last mission? Or do I get to keep doing stuff?

Hi METALPUNKS :)
You can launch Arrival whenever you want. When you finish the suicidal mission and after the credits you can choose from two options: continue to do sidequests, finish DLC's and/or creating relationships or you can start a second playthrough with some bonuses. So yes, you can keep doing stuff after the last mission.
