My imported Vanguard shep already has a ton of points spent. For assault mastery, I have Influence & Force picked over Damage by default. It says increases force bonus 30%, but what on earth does that even mean? There is nothing that says what "force bonus" affects. Almost feels like the damage one is better but I can't change that since it's already set.

"Force" as a term refers to physics. Basically, the way I understand it for physics-based biotics (such as charge) "force" and "damage" are more or less the same thing.
10% extra force to an 800N charge means you now charge with the force of 880N.
