Hello everyone, Im hoping to see if I get any responses other than "get a new computer" because its beyond the realm of possibility for me.
So I ran Mass Effect 2 with no performance issues whatsoever (maybe a moment or two of chop on a handful of occassions) but as I start playing Mass Effect 3 the chop is UNBEARABLE, absolutely unplayable. I disabled origin in game, tried to tweak some of my graphics card settings via nvidia control panel, switched resolutions, no dice.
*YES I realize my processor doesnt meet the minimum requirements, could there be another reason? I run comprably demanding games or higher (including ME2, TOR, SC2, Skyrim, etc) with no issue but this is absolutely unbearable. here are my specs anyway, any help?
ASUS Notebook UL80Jt
*Intel Core i3 1.2 GHZ (I know, I know...)
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 310M
64bit OS
Im so very down on this now, I figured since 2 worked so well that I wouldnt even have to worry about 3. Ive been looking forward to this for far too long, please help!

I also saw your thread, you have a much better processor and you said your cinematics run fine? For me even the opening cinematic was painful to get through, quite choppy. Im just curious as to why everyone said 3 would run fine if you could run 2 and the system requirements seem to back that up, yet I can run 2 fine and 3 is absolutely unplayable. wish there were more graphics options...
any help? Im feeling pretty hopeless

If I am to compare your specifications with Tom's hardware, you are attempting to play using unsupported graphics card.
Your specs are way below the recommended requirements I believe.
Maybe you can tone down the resolution to 1024*768 to improve performance.

I have tried to lower my resolution to 1280x 720. No help at all, game is still very choppy, I have no idea why since I can run ME2 with no problems at all and ME3's graphic isn't that much superior to ME2.

I think there are subtle differences if you can't play ME3 properly compared to ME2.

I had a similar problems and it was mouse related. If you have a high performance gaming mouse such as a razor naga or something with a high dpi, update your mouse drivers and look for a setting called "polling rate" I had mine on my naga set to 500 and it was getting really frustrating navigating menus and it would plummet my framerate whenever I moved my mouse at all. I dropped it to 125 and it is much smoother. To further test my theory I increased it to 1000 and it would drop my framerate so uncontrollably that I had to stop moving my mouse for 10 seconds to get it to catch up. Hopefully that helps!

Ive dropped the resolution and its at least made the game...I suppose playable since Ive put a couple hours in so far. Combat (especially very dynamic ones) and certain in game events (like crashes, explosions, etc) can get frustratingly choppy, but at least I can continue the story. I received a PM with a link that may or may not be helpful, Im a bit too tired to get into this now but maybe it'll be helpful to someone else. If so let me know. Not sure why the user couldnt post on these forums though which arouses a little suspicion for me. If you try this program proceed with caution.

What do you mean turning off the origin client?
I just bought myself a 560 GTX 1gig card today to upgrade my old GPU 8800GTS
And it is STILL unplayable/choppy.
Turned of AA and dynamic shadows, running game in 1920x1080(24 inch screen)

Hey all, make sure you've done the following:
1) If you try to play after an Origin update it sometimes affects the game's choppiness, restarting your computer fixes it. I used to have this problem with Steam so it's not an Origin only issue.
2) Make sure you have the latest drivers for your videocard, since they sometimes update their hardware to optimize it for new releases.

Latest driver for my card 295.73 installed, restarted 4 times, did not play after origin update.
Dropped resolution to 800x600 and its still chopping bad.
Using a Logitech G5 mouse.
Also adjusted settings to performance and forced V-sync off in Nvidia control panel.
