Everytime i get to the data center and watch the cutscene of the protheans going into stasis as soon as im supposed to regain control it locks up my xbox, i thought it was just a freezing issue since ive frozen the 360 3 times before this for some reason but now its locked at that exact spot 3 times. I cant do anything but hit the power button all controls lock and the screen freezes, anyone else have this happen?

I'm crashing at the same spot as well, except on PC.

Yep, happened to me as well; brilliantly, it is still not possible to actually abort missions for those of us who don't make a new save before every mission, which is in turn impossible because of the save limit. Well, given some of ME3's design decisions I am not surprised that the developers decided to put all eggs into one basket and bet on never shipping any such bugs ever.
Interestingly, I worked around the issue by collecting the other bit of data first (there are two).

I had no problems with it on my Xbox 360. But it was also the first mission I did when I got the Normendy.

I figured out a way around it. Learn how to open the pod first, then get the data.
It was crashing on me when I would get the data, so whatever was causing the crash was in that room and not in the pod room.

I passed through that scenario without a problem on PS3. My PS3 did freeze however, at the end of the Mars mission when the cyborg that will be EDI is running at you in slow-mo as you gun her down. I booted up my PS3 again and had no problem completing that scene the 2nd time around. My PS3 has froze on every single game I own at least once since I got the thing, so it was probably my PS3's fault.

EDI has a great one liner as well, i forget the exact wording but it was something like "I only forget to recycle the ships oxygen when i find something really interesting" followed by shepards jaw dropping and backing away slowly, that gave me a chuckle not as good as her "humans on their knees" joke from ME2 but it was pretty good

Unfortunately I cant help those with this problem on PS3 or XBox, sorry
But for the PC players who freaked out like I did, there is a workaround I saw posted in an article, and it worked for me just fine. If you'll notice after the cutscene you seem to have control for a second or so (at least I did.) right after that scene and right before your game locks up just hit your ESC key in rapid succession a few times, bringing you in and out of the menu screen. It'll bypass the bug and you can keep going. Good luck.
