I was in the store as a round started. During the round, I was able to play as my asari vanguard- however, my weapon mods were gone, and my katana and predator were restored to level 1. After the round, it gave me the starting screen for multiplayer (welcome to N7 or sommat like that), and I had the option to get a starter pack. When I  checked my gear, I had no new weapons, no class unlocks, and no weapon mods. However, my experience was preserved.

This just happened to me. I just promoted my Quarian Infiltrator and was leveling my Asari Adept when I got the Welcome to N7 screen. All weapon and class unlocks are now gone. Lost my carnifex and geth plasma shotgun. I still have my Asari Adept active, but it is listed as locked on my character select screen.

Just happened to me as well. Finished a game and it gave me the welcome to the multiplayer screen. Basically just reset everything except experience. Lost my Salarian Engineer. :[

Happened after spending a good chunk of money on bioware points last night from being over-eager about getting a few specific unlocks. Lost multiple characters/weapons but experience was preserved. Same situation as others are describing. Wouldn't feel too bad except for the whole spending money.

This has happened to me twice now.

I played a ton last night after release, maybe after 6-7 hours of playing I lost everything. Whatever, it's a new game, stupid bugs happen. I was pissed and want my credits back, but I understand.

I tried to make a post about it/respond to the existing threads last night, but you apparently have to wait 24 hours after making an account before posting (which is unfathomably stupid on a tech support forum, for the record), so I just said whatever, I'll deal  with it, and went back to playing.

Now it's happened twice. I even specifically turned on cloud sync after the first time, hopeing that it'd backup multiplayer along with singleplayer. Nope. I've now lost almost a million credits to this game being stupid. I get that bugs happen, and it sucks, so here's what you do:

You make a post and say "Hey guys, we know this is really frustrating (especially since our unlock system is random for god-knows what reason), and we're really sorry about it. We're working really hard to get this fixed soon, but we can't make any promises when we'll fix it, but we will. If you've had this happen, please PM a bioware rep with the info (what system, when it happened, etc) and we'll look into it. In the meantime, here's a generous gift of credits (because it costs us nothing to give to you, and helps make up for us screwing up) that's a bit of an overestimate of what you'd lost. Thanks for understanding. -Bioware"

I'd love my ~8-900k credits back now. Thanks.

P.S.: People have already figured out for you what causes the issues: being in the store when the game starts. It's not like it's incredibly difficult to find the issue from there.

THANK YOU FOR THE CAUSE OF THE BUG

Now I can avoid being caught in it again and save my friends. Second, can you conact someone and who for the equips you loss? I didn't have this much stuff so I don't mind only having the worth of credits I had use. (Didn't buy anything with real money.)

They're apparently working on returning all the unlocks. The person I talked to on the phone told me that was the plan but was unable to give a time-frame of when it would happen.
