I hate film grain... ugh, but it should be there regardless. I mean it's not like it costs an arm and a leg.

I would support this, because it makes sense, but I didn't even notice it was gone to be honest.

I loved the film grain. There are a bunch of people who are graphics ****s, who want to see every detail, every pixel of every texture, who think that film grain is useless because it messes with the graphical fidelity.

Hey, I know people who take cream and sugar with their coffee, others who just add milk, and others (like me) who prefer it black. It's a matter of taste, and the same goes for the film grain. If you let people mess with the volume sliders, or give them the option to limit their experience by opting to have dialogue chosen for them, then fine. More power to Bioware for giving players more choice in how they play. What I don't get is the arbitrary removal of a graphical option, for all platforms, that's been featured in previous games and whose use has actually enhanced the experience for many players.

I mean, it's not a popular feature, but Bioware brought back motion blur and we (PS3 and 360 players) don't even have the option of turning that off (the opposite was true for ME1). So why has film grain gotten the shaft this time?

The grain looked kinda ugly at native res so I played at 1280x800 instead, now with the grain gone I can play native.

If the grain is to return they better make it look better.

I personally have played every ME game with film grain turned off. I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to keep it on. I mean, if this was a fantasy or sometime in the past, then sure, film grain all the way...but Mass Effect is supposed to be science fiction so everything, in an artistic sense, should look sleek and vibrant...so I think it actually IS more fitting to not have a film grain.

Science fiction films are still *films*. They've always gone for a very film like look. Including the more natural colours that entails and the grain. So to leave it out is puzzling.

Digital still has grain, don't be fooled by george lucas marketing machine. And digital grain is a million times worse because it has colour drift and mosaicing artifacts.

film grain could hide the horrible low-poly textures

You mean low resolution. Otherise I agree, that's what film grain does. It simply makes the video seem more detailed than it actually is. Personally it's the first thing I turn off because I just see it for what it is: random noise added to a perfectly clean source. HD textures would make the game look better than film grain ever could, but I can understand that some people really want the option of turning it on anyway..

It's there to make it look more like real footage, just like the lens flares and all that. It's not to hide anything.

Not having the film grain effect has been nothing short of dissappointing. I love Mass Effect. I'm a huge fan. The plotline and characters are incredible. The balance of action and rpg elements is untouchable. The film grain effect though, it's trademark. If you feel the way I do please just post VOTE. Hopefully BioWare will take notice. I understand it's supposed to eat at your systems budget, but at least give us PC players the option. I know I'm not alone on this. It has literally made me want to stop playing (won't, but kinda want to). Other than that, bang up job BioWare!

I actually wasnt a fan of the film grain option. So im good without it.

The source may be clean, but the scene itself is horrible quality. Resulting in a bad source. Ideally we want material depicting a photorealistic scene. These are not only textures but also polycount and lightning. Both far away from being realistic in the game. -> grain needed. HD textures being actually the least of the problems. Even Quake 1 had these, with modpacks.

Filmgrain is actually still in the game--not for the main content but for "effects", such as during Diana interviews and with Miranda on the monitors in the Sanctuary mission.

No reason for this not to be an option. It's a small thing but for me a big part of what Mass Effect what it is (I think characters especially look plastic-y without it). It looks like it's in the game anyway, so it shouldn't be an issue to make it an ON/OFF option as it was in ME1 and ME2.

what sucks is, i just played the first 2 games (always use film grain) then go into the third game and couldn't find the option. Quit skimping on stupid things Bioware!
I also noticed that every race on mp has the same artwork, reguardless of class. I mean really with all the millions you're making you can't even put in different artwork for each of the characters?

EDIT: /signed, please add filmgrain like the other 2 games

I support this one.
Still, as PS3 owner, I fear that film grain could make the frame-rate even worse.

I vote for film grain. It definitely a good thing. They could add (fix) it in the first patch (along with the holstering for PC)
