The film grain is ME's LOOK. It's a big part of the art and direction style, to cut it out is to ruin the game.

I was so busy being frustrated with the continuity errors and the felgercarb of the endings , I didn't even notice the lack of film grain .

Maybe it's just because I play at 1080p with Morphological anti-aliasing, but I never noticed film gain in prior games, or ME2 anyway (haven't played ME1 in a long time).

It was an optional feature Bryson.
There is no problems with having that same optional feature in ME3 I think.

... Seriously? I personally hated it. Felt like it was a way for BW to hide its graphical errors.

Just today I realized that the thing that was really bothering me about ME3's aesthetic was the lack of my beloved film grain. I say they should add it as part of a future DLC. Or patch it. I would actually feel fine dropping a few $$$ just to have it back.

I don't use film grain(hate it) but would not mind the option being added.

I really don't see the point of artificial film grain. It makes the image look worse and defeats the purpose of using a digital cable like HDMI.

Well, it objectively makes the quality of the image worse.
Subjectively, though, it can make the image look better. Depends on whether you enjoy the retro film look. It's like the difference between typing on weathered parchment or printing paper... one is clearly better, the other has personality.
Seriously, what's so hard to understand about that? It's not like everyone's a graphics ****; heck, there are people who really like Minecraft for its look.

The film grain was one of the things i LOVED about Mass Effect as it gave it that feeling like i was watching a movie.

The Mass Effect games have flawed visuals, especially when it comes to texture quality. The film grain obscures the bad texture quality.EpicBoot2daFace wrote...

Film grain is okay.
The absence of film grain really isn't one of the big issues with the game.

Film grain was the literally single worst feature in the entirety of ME1 and ME2.

I loathed film grain and turned it off at every opportunity. It didn't enhance, it only subtracted quality.
There are a lot of high res textures I don't use because they remind me of film grain with their excessive bumpiness.

I tried film grain in ME1 and didn't like it, immediately turned it off again but there's no reason why it couldn't be an option to those who like it.

Your answer to the problem is to make the overall image worse? Brilliant.Fredvdp wrote...
