I get confused about what items i have for which quest. I pretty much have to remember them in my head.
Also, HANAR INDOCTRINATION QUEST IS DRIVING ME NUTS. It wont work, and it's the one i want to do the most.
I wish the quest log would update

I got stuck on the hanar mission myself. As for your first point, yea, the mission log in this game is way inferior to the first two games. I really have no idea why BioWare did that..

That quest requires you to go to terminals on the embassy level and the docks level iirc.

The Hannar Indoctrination quest requires you to go to the level with the refugees in order to access 3 more terminals before going back the to Embassy for the final confrontation.

The Hanar quest is seemingly bugged, plenty of us who never get any of the terminals available for use.

yeah i guess bioware decided it would be a better idea to not have quests update as you go, but a better idea for people to need a pen and paper handy at all times while playing... or have a photographic memory

Or do what I do ... stumble around until you accidently solve another side quest.
Okay, a log that updates would be nice.

It is pretty bad. It has to be a bug. I just don't see why they would implement that kind of system.

I used The map function during that quest (press "v" on PC), just switched it from floor to floor until the blue word "terminal" appears on one of the screens, then went there. I don't know if the quest is bugged though.
An updating quest log would be nice, since it is pretty easy to forget whether you picked up a quest item somewhere or not. I would like to be able to see a quest item inventory actually, since I could easily piece together where I am in a quest based on that.

I don't like it either. Wonder if such a feature can be patched...

Just want to throw in my support to the OP. I definitely think the quest system in ME2 was better organized - both by how it separated out missions and in particular how it broke them down into components to keep track of.

Ugh, the journal in this game is one of the worst ever. It's right up there with Skyrim. What is wrong with developers these days? Journals should be written quest logs, complete with a list of all the portions of a given quest you have already completed. Not being able to see the history of a given quest is nearly as bad as not updating.
Please, Bioware, give us USEFUL JOURNAL ENTRIES!!! I only completed the Hanar quest through sheer stubbornness and traveling to every area of the Citadel multiple times. What is this, some throwback to 1980s games that I have to have a notebook and write down everything everyone tells me so I won't miss an important clue?

i highly doubt this will ever change.. This is not something they can just "patch." They would literally have to write triple the amount of text the quest log has.. If they were too lazy to do that in the first place... I just do not see them going back and doing it now.
If you are going to play Mass Effect 3.. Have a pen and paper handy... yur gonna need it

I just want to know how to finish hanar diplomacy! It might be too late now, but before it was so bugged. I had the terminal marked on my map and It did not let me select it.
