 I'm a bit confused over the timeline.      Liara states that she hasn't seen me for a couple years (after LOTSB?) chakwas says something about 6 months.................      

Any thoughts?

I think it's simply a misunderstanding. If you romanced Liara in ME1, she asks if you want to continue the relationship, even though it has been a few years. She doesn't say she hasn't seen you "in years."

This is a known bug. If you reunite with Liara as your LI in LotSB... ME3 doesn't recognize the crossover and she says she hasn't seen you in years. She also acts much more cool towards you in the beginning of ME3... like sh eis still trying to determine what you feel.

I found this to be totally unacceptable along with the fact I couldn't import my face from ME1. Don't know about plans to fix it. Doesn't matter either... with the endings the way they are... I probably won't play this game again.

Actually my helping her become the SB was totally forgotten by Shep. Shep asked about how she became the new SB but  Shep helped Liara become the SB. It seems like LotSB didn't import flags didn't work or didn't exist.

And even if you didn't do LotSB, you still met Liara in ME2 when you were recruiting Samara. So it's just a bug they need to fix and get the voice actress back in there to redo those lines if necessary.

I didn't encounter the question that you did. Shepard seemed to already know how.

I didn't romance Liara and it happened. I was pointing out that romancing her isn't the only thing that causes Liara dialog bugs.

Now Liara got close but at the point were you have to choose one, I didn't pick Liara in ME1. So when we met in ME2, it was as close friends not romances.

The game seems to acknowledge my shadow broker actions in many other areas... friend of mine did LOTSB before the relay in ME2 and he has the same liara 2 years thing ME3 at the start.

Well Liara says "We haven't been together in years", which is still inaccurate since I definitely continued my romance with her at the end of Lair of the Shadow Broker. It's a bit strange they missed this detail when several plot details are already tied to DLC...
