When I found out they just photoshopped a picture instead of just modeling her face in her helmet I was so mad. I mean seriously how lazy. Bioware really knows how to disappoint their fans nowadays don't they? I mean if you are going to do something on this end, at least let it have the quality of this beautiful artwork, and not something I could do in literally 5 minutes.

Wow... If it's real, it's truly lazy. I have zero interest in Tali, but still, it is incredibly lazy. If it was Photoshopped nicely, to change the background, skin color (come on, how is her complexion that nice when she's 24/7 in a suit?), and make more believable fingers, I'd be okay with the idea.

So will the model get payed for using her pic? She can sue them if they don't pay her.

She already got paid for the image at the time it was taken and signed a release. The image is royalty-free, so after BW paid for the image they are free to use it as they wished within the terms at Getty.

They did photoshop it, but from generic stockfootage.

Who says? You don't have to pay for the photo. You can just printscreen it, and take it. Will she ever know? Probably not.

...that would leave you with a picture that has watermarks all over. Will she ever know ? No, probably not -what is your point ?

Still, a 10 minute shop of a stock photo is really an unbelievable lazy way to reveal one of the greatest mysteries in the ME universe. Tali's character deserved more.

Maybe. But at least it isn't a bad looking model. I wouldn't mind it if they found and hired that model to do a better job of actually creating Tali's face with her. I don't hear anyone complaining really about 'space elf' so much as 'shop job from stock photo'.

Then again, didn't Chris tell us plainly that they did not intend for Tali to become a full squadmate until the uproar was loud enough? This was probably done as a rush to fill in all the expectations of a full squad mate romance.

In the end my opinion is:
Model and appearance = ok
Using a Stock Photo and absolutely no in game model = not ok.

I'll forgive them if they come out with an in game model appearance of her with her face visible.

You can render Mark Vanderloo, but you can't find and model this gal?

It's strange because you just know that someone on the concept art team like Matt Rhodes probably had a legitimate design for the Quarians in a notebook somewhere.

This must have been outsourced. Why would they not actually put some effort into the ONE thing this crazy fanbase cares about more than anything else.

They didn't even photoshop the bones connecting the fingers they chopped off. Take a close look...

I don't know. Pre-ME3 I was heavy in favor of revealing Tali's face -regardless of how she would look like (because I generally don't like being teased. The ME2 "unmasking" pissed me off a bit)...however, had I known that BW would just half-ass it, I really would have prefered her face to remain a mystery.

She's not "looking away". They just painted her eyes a solid white (you know, since they are the only thing glowing through the mask in the game) -they also cut her hand in half and added a lens-flare effect = 10 min photoshop of the stock photo.

Well...this is Bioware trying to appease the people who didn't want to see her face and the people who did.

I'm really curious as to who discovered this first. I'm picturing some kid playing ME3, doing a Talimance, and going "WAIT A MINUTE. I KNOW THAT STOCK PHOTO!"

lol that was what I was thinking.

The thing is, after my playthrough, I sat through the credits and there was something saying thy used a photo from Getty Images. I had no idea what that meant until I saw this comparison a couple days ago.

This just confuses things even more.

You'd have to actively work harder to not use one of these designs. It must have been a late addition. Someone somewhere said 'ok, put in the face' and everyone else was like 'wait, we thought we weren't going to, we didn't prepare'.

As bad as the end to the game is, and it is quite spectacularly bad, at least it has production values. At least it's polished. This is lazy or stupid or rushed. It's so unlike BioWare to do something so slapdash.

Transformers 3 is one of the worst movies on the planet. You realize you are comparing one of the BEST games to one of the WORST movies?

Wait, do you get to see her face in game? How? I didn't. I got punked and she went to take her mask off after getting her homeworld back but the god damn camera cut to her back and I didn't get to see what she looked like. :(
