So when it's not charged it's not too strong right? Hold that puppy down for about 3-5 seconds and watch it melt anything down in 2 seconds. What's even better is that it auto recharges so never have to worry about ammo. You get this gun with Prothean DLC.

I would speculate that when the beam goes super power.... it does at least 5 times normal damage because I wiped out Cerberus heavy that usually takes me about 10 shots in like 1 second or less.

Heh, I just finished my DLC mission, I'll have to check it out! I like the Mattock, but not having to wrry about ammo is nice.

Yea... damage isn't too much worse than Valkrie V either. When charged up it's like 5-10 times better.

The Particle Rifle is awesome! It has a cooldown system just like the weapons of the original Mass Effect, and its accuracy is good as well. Its design is also one of the best I've seen for the weapons of this game.

The Atlas in Mordin/Wrex's mission on Sur'Kesh?

Yeah, it lasted about eight seconds.

I prefer to stick with reckless spamming of Charge/Nova.

It's become my weapon of choice. Yes, it doesn't do much damage until it ramps up...plus there's a weird glitchiness in how the game handles picking up ammo when you have the particle gun equipped (you can fill up on ammo... then a few seconds later, it keeps letting you pick up more ammo... then the ammo respawns as if you never touched it).

I'm playing a Sentinel, and it's essentially the only weapon I use. Stuck a scope on it (scopes + firing + biotic/tech attacks = awesome death from a distance) and the ammo bonus mod, to increase the dwell time I can use before the gun runs out. I, too, have taken out mechs with a sudden barrage of Warp and full-auto particle gun blasting in no time flat. The only downside is it really pays to note just how much time you have before reheat. Even if you only have a few shots left, it'll recharge pretty quickly, whereas in overheat mode it takes a very long time to recover. Long enough, it's a good idea to have a backup weapon of some kind available.

Any ideas?

You have to redo the DLC mission which will let you re-acquire the Particle Rifle. It will then automatically level up from 7 to 10.

Another aspect of it that I love is stacking ammo powers on it. With incendiary ammo on it causes burning which can take out most unshielded enemies in no time. Plus equipping it to your teammates makes it easy to pinpoint where enemies are when shrouded in smoke.
