Now...the first two look like the same character to me, maybe with some updated graphics.  The third...well, I think the images speak for themselves.

I could understand that it might be a challenge to keep the characters looking the same if the graphics had taken another big leap forward.  But actually, ME2 looks visually superior to 3 to me.  I don't know what it is exactly...shaders? Something?

I think I made some tweaks between 1 and 2, because I was able to import the appearance from ME2 with no error.  Point being, maybe it's not a fair comparison and I need to tweak the ME3 one.  But I made an initial attempt at that, and I only got slight improvements so far.  Stuff just looked better in 2 overall, it seems like.

For anyone else who is having this issue, here's a poll someone made:

http://social.biowar...20/polls/29029/

It's for both people who are getting the face import error, and people who can import "but the face looks drastically different."

There are quite a few people in the same boat as me: they can't get something that looks like their old appearance no matter how many times they try, and they don't even want to play with a character who just looks like a different person than their Shepard from 1 and 2.

Yeah, it would help if I knew how to post images...but apparently I don't.  I tried " alt="">"<url>", but no luck with that...

Yeah, I had to click the links for the las 2 as well.
I agree with the OP, the ME3 one looks way different from the first 2.
However, I also think the ME3 definitely looks best :).

That's just my opinion though, no need spreading it around.

EDIT: post inages: [ img ]Image URL[ /img ] without the spaces inside the brckets.

I don't like what they did to her mouth. A lot of the choices turned really frowny.

No sweat. Yeah, its crap. The new face textures look so weird/plastic and hearstyles and completely different. Imported charakters will almost never look the same. Add to that, that they now lip-sync differenly, and you'll never feel its your Shep. I plan to recreate most faces, as old one's just dont look right.

Looks like a completely different charakter. At least we have more options, but say bye to the old Sheps.

ME3 cheekbones/jaw width/hair colour look completely off. Have you tried playing around with it in the CC?

Like I said, my Shep used to look like Stone Cold. Now he looks like a bald Michael Jackson.

I'm shelving this game and logging off until I get news of a patch. Halo Wars and Uncharted 3? Here I come!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having to do a little work to re-create something that looked more like the ME2 version, but at this point I wonder if it will even be possible.  I started from scratch and got a slightly better result, but really it was pretty close to the imported version.  In other words, not very good...

I've tried some, but no significant improvements so far. Maybe I'll give it another shot tomorrow...

Same here, at least with this character. Maybe some of my others will look more like themselves...though the evidence doesn't point that way.

The main character types (Anderson, etc.) I've seen in-game so far don't look so bad. But that only makes my Shepard look even worse by comparison.

Granted, the faces didn't import well and are obviously a bit different...

I have to say the Me3 faces look much better anyway. No offense, but your shep ws kinda ugly before, third is an improvement. That's just my opinion, of course.

You could... You know, just re-work your Shepard a bit.

Maybe its because while playing, I always find some sort of flaw in mine. My "canon" character's nose look like Cerberus broke it and it didn't set right while my secondary sort of looked like a rapist after I imported him.

EDIT: To clarify, I was refering to when I imported them into ME2 from the first game.

I've tried.  In fact, I did also re-do her between 1 and 2, like you said you did.  And I remember it was a LOT easier in 2 to get something closer to her original look.  Anyway, not much luck re-working her so far.  I mean, the import from 1 to 2 wasn't perfect, which was why I re-did it then.  But it was way closer than this.

For one thing, that hairstyle used to be a really tight bun, fitting for a miltary type, and now it's all lumpy and bulgy.

The only real annoyance with me is that facial hair goes from an extreme light color making it look there is no facial hair to an almost black. The "blond" hair doesn't match with the blond facial hair. They really need to fix the coloring in character creation as well as the other annoyances people are having.

I never leave the import face because it gets lost in the translation i always make a new face and ME3 is by far the best of the three for making an attractive female Shepard. All three of those builds is aweful . I can make an really beautiful character in all three games.

Same with mine. ME1 and ME2 looked great. He looks retarded in ME3. Cross-eyed, messed up mouth, protruding teeth. For some reason the hair also changed even though the same hair is available in ME3. I tried tweaking him a bit but he still looks awful.

I'm going to start a new game and mess around withe the CC more.

For some of us its about continuity/immersion rather than attractiveness.

First off - I love your shepards face - she looks a bit chubby, and that's not a common view.
In your ME3 shots it looks like she dyed her hair darker and lost some weight.

But yeah, I know what you're meaning - she does look different. Maybe they weren't as accurate with the ME3 conversion as before.

ME3's CC is miles better than the previous instalations. Put in some work and you'll be rewarded.

I'm 10 hours in w/ my "Approx Shep." And in that time I've noticed that his cheek bones are ridiculously huge, and it is starting to annoy me, lol. I went back and re-imported and toned down his cheek bones and it looks much better and closer to my ME1/ME2 Shep. But, I don't feel like making up 10 hours of gameplay right now =) I guess he'll have to use his enormous cheekbones to smash some Reapers, or something, lol.

*sigh* ... the import from ME1-ME2 was so perfect, IDK why Bioware didn't put some time into making sure it worked just as well from ME1-ME2-ME3.
