I think people are making this a bigger deal than it actually is. Last I checked, no romanced Tali just to see her face. We have the internet for that if that's all you're curious about. Seeing her true face in ME3 was a bonus. Not a great bonus, but nothing that hurts the romance.

I'm in no way a Talimancer but I can understand why some of them feel insulted. It does reek of cheap, last minute, bone throwing.

I didn't mind the picture by itself all that much, but I had seen this picture on this forum before actually getting to it in the game. I was really hoping that this was a hoax but no, there it was.

I need to stop coming onto the spoilers section of this site.

As a college student, I can vouch for what happened here. "The games done, good job team" "I dunno something is missi-...OH GOD TALI'S FACE" "Holy **** I totally forgot! Quick, someone google something. Tim you get on photoshop, this project is due in the morning oh gawd"

Has anyone thought of the possibility that BioWare needed a starting face, looked in depth for one that would work for the situation, and actually asked permission from the person and she accepted? Maybe this whole thing was organized?

Even if it wasn't all organized, PseudoEthnic is right...it's not like we romanced Tali JUST to see her face. I don't think they intended to put much effort into that right there.

"It was only part of why we are interested so it's okay they put in literally zero effort"

No. As a consumer we have a right to expect more than five minutes in photoshop; the poster for the Blasto movie in the Presidium took more effort than the Tali photo.

Edit: I'm mad and I didn't even romance Tali.

This is so lame. Seriously.

Man, 90% of this game is so great... but that other 10%, which is so important, just... just... I have no words.

The problem isn't what she looks like. The problem is that the image looks totally out of place in regards to the rest of the game which is all clearly rendered models rather then live action actors.

Same story as most of you. Such a disappointment !

The whole Quarian homeworld arc as a Talimancer was one that brought tears to my eyes. I never got so emotional about a game although I was puzzled when I didn't get to see her face on Rannoch, but I immediately concluded that it was the best way to treat the matter : leave me in charge of the imagination. Until that point, it was perfection!

But I was left in shock when I got that little present. I landed here as a result. It is such an horrible let down. And it is a 5 minute photoshop job, I can tell you.

But instead of complaining and being unproductive about this nonetheless outrageous material
I'd propose to try and come with a solution for it. I suppose that this image would be something relatively easy to change with a patch. So let's make a deal Bioware. Go do your homework and patch this!

I must be one of the few not to have an issue with this. Clearly they decided to go human-ish looking, then used a stock photo as a base. No big deal.

So far down the list of issues I have with the game that it doesn't appear on the list at all.

Don't complain about spoilers, the title mentions them and this is a spoiler forum.

This has popped up several times elsewhere, but I wanted to put it in the sub-forum it belongs in.

Not only that, but I personally think it's fake.

Look at the fingers. They're way too close together to be a Quarian.

Its the spacing of fingers thats bothering you?.

OMG if this is real then this cheap 'n' lazy art asset addition makes me feel pretty disappointed.
Bioware Tali has three fingers on each hand! - THREE thicker than human digits!Keelah!, what a cheap lazy bosh'tet job!.  Photoshopping out the other two and pretending thats her wrist?... pfft!

Lazy, lazy lazy Bioware! - Naughty! - Lazy!.

This is Tali - and you all know it too!. - even Bioware developers re-tweeted it as inspiration, how the holy hell did (if this is true) Tali end up a cut 'n' paste stock photo job.

Also that winter on mars rip-off bit.  Lazy.
I honestly thought Bioware were better than that creatively.  Utterly busted.

Someone posted a modified image of the model in that photo - as Tali. So I did some editing and makeshifting of said image...It's not perfect...but I think it looks better then Biowares. Someone who has more experience with PS would do a lot better.

I'm not even a big fan of Tali and I found this offensive. Diana Allers gets a full character model, but Tali gets a stock photo? UGH!

The WORST part of it all is how offensive the image is, because it makes absolutely no sense. Why is Tali in a field? Why is her mask off? When in the world did she have time to take this picture? Wouldn't that have made her sick? What in the world is she wearing?

I can't even with this!

My friend got inspired by this and is now trying to insert either a photo of a nude woman, a troll face, or a Tali fan art :innocent:

For PC users it shouldn't be too hard to find a way to replace that monstrosity with anything they'd prefer to see in it's place. But POOR console players are DOOMED to have that insult of a picture on their Shepard's bedside table for eternity! UGH!

I want to throw Tali out of the nearest airlock. I'm starting to get Quarianophobe.

This is satisfactory.
Would I have witnessed this image instead, Tali's arc would have remained perfect.

If I wasn't so lazy and more skilled in Photoshop, I would have simply recolored Mirandas head and rendered it instead of using the photograph. But alas...I am indeed lazy.

Look at this.

Actually, aside from the hand, the face does look a lot less human in this image - so I'm not as disappointed in that regard.  Not sure if I like the humanlike hair, but what can you do?

It is unfortunate, though, that if they gave you a picture in your room they didn't show you her face in the game itself, on her home planet when she takes the mask off, at least.

I'm....okay with it. I think this was more of a back and forth that they didn't make a final decision on until almost the end and when they did, this was the only thing they had time to do. Could it have been done better, probably. But as it is, I'm more satisfied than if they won't have shown it at all.

I guess I'm a Talimancer, as from the very first Mass Effect, I've loved Tali more then Ashley or Liara (though Liara is my second love). She was so fun to talk to and I was a little annoyed we weren't given the chance to romance her. Then we were able to romance her in ME2, we got to know her better and learned about her little ticks (her rambling when extremely nervous).

I was sad in ME2 when she removed her cover on screen but we never got to see her face. Then we get two scenes (if you romanced her, one if you didn't) where she takes off her helmet cover in Mass Effect 3, and neither shows her face.

Then instead, we get a stock picture... a STOCK picture as her face. Why couldn't they have used Liz Sroka (who voiced Tali) as her model? Perhaps Sroka said no, or perhaps they didn't even bother to ask her. We won't know unless Bioware comes out and says this, and I wouldn't blame Sroka for refusing, her image is hers and she has the right to choose whether or not someone can use it or not. But they could've done better then a bloody stock photo.

And I suck at photoshop, but I could probably do the same job as Bioware did with that photo in an hour. My brother, who's pretty darn good with photoshop, can do a better job then they did in five minutes. He used to enter into Something Awful's photoshop contest, and though he's never won (as far as I know of), he got ranked pretty high often, and one of the contests he photoshopped a guy into looking like one of the aliens in the movie "Signs". Got in the top 5 (I think) with that photo.

My point is, is that they could have done a lot better. We the fans know it, it's been one of the major things that has been requested since ME1. And in ME2, we had a lot of people who wanted to see what a Quarian in general looks like under their suits. This was sort of a slap to our face as we don't see a vision of what Qurians look like, we see a fast slapped together photoshopped picture.

It's possible that in the future, Bioware will change that photo. They changed the Batarians looks from what it was originally seen in the ME1 codex. So it's possible that we might see something better then what is shown.

Well, photoshopped or not, stock photo or not, Tali still looks amazing.
